The picture below speaks largely of how Nigeria works, when they need to divide the Igbos they throw in the Anioma context but, when they contest for a position they refer to all of them as Igbos.

I think the present day people do not really know their roots.
The people of onitsha, atani and those across the Niger river claim they are not Igbos but are of igbo ancestry. This idea of distinction gained prominence after the civil war.

When I am free I will talk about the history of the Aniomas and their relationship to the Igbos. I saw an article on it today, and I find it worthy for all to read.

don't say what you don't know . which atani man told you he be is not igbo? the term ndi igbo that they use for upland igbos is not to say they aren't igbos. they are " olu igbo " which simply means riverine igbos. in igbo language it's a term used to define location. so when u hear terms like " olu na igbo nine" it means the complete igbo race. our people say " ife obuna igbo na eme ma olu igbo adiro , imara na igbo ezuro oke. meaning that when ever igbo assemble and the olu people are not there then that assembly is incomplete. the olu igbos also believe that "nri ji ofor igbo nine" once a general gathering of igbos. it's an nri man that is eldest . no matter how small or young he is . the area you mentioned is a conglomerate of upland igbos, returnee igbos from igala and Benin.

Feb 10 2021 and this is your achievement.

What is is Anioma and what is Igbo

What is Keshi and what is kala.

Losing sleep over something that won't bring food to your table.

Humans are distinct in nature and you should be more concerned about yourself and your immediate community.

You can't force someone to identify as an Igbo if they feel uncomfortable with the idea. The minority tribes in the Niger Delta have said time and time again that they are not Igbos but yet you continue to cry about it,.Na by force?
The Ibibios,Annangs and Efik people speak almost the same language and are obviously related but you will never hear the Ibibios claiming that the Efiks and Annangs are Ibibios, what is wrong with you Igbo people?
You go around claiming everyone is Igbo, the Ikweres are Igbos, the Ijaws are Igbos, the Aniomas are Igbos .
Leave other autonomous tribes alone ,they don't want to be igbos.

Show who exactly?

The audience are not here.

Take your message to their respective Facebook groups or rather chose a famous paper and write about it.

And not a gossip centre where even the audience aren't available.

meanwhile I still Insist you should be more concerned of yourself and let others be.

You guys have masturbated over this topic for long .

Nobody said the Ijaws were Igbos, they are a distinct ethnic group. The Aniomas share a relationship with the Onichas of Anambra, I will talk of it later on. Dennis Osadebe (he is from Anioma) made this very clear in his works.

Pele, if you are interested move along nobody forced you to comment. Besides, I am from Etche in Rivers, and this should be only the second time I am talking about this probably because it trended on Twitter today, and new insights from historians and record keepers were shared.

To the best of my knowledge and experience/interactions with Anioma people, the only part of Anioma (and correct me if I'm wrong) that deny been Igbos are predominantly from the Ika/Kwale axis down to Ukwuani. Then the Enuani parts where the likes of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, JJ Okocha, Ned Nwoko etc and the rest come from have never denied their Igboness which would suggest because large parts of Enuani people were migrants from mostly Anambra that settled there.

Clown, check my original account Privaldo and see me even demonizing Igbos as far back as 2018 before someone talked sense into me on this forum. I am a full blooded son of Umeto, Ubukwu, Ozuzu, Etche and a proud descendant of Amadioha Ozuzu, and there is nothing you or any other person can do about it. I even learnt this week from my mother that Ikwerre are not Igbos and are of bini descent that's why I didnt talk of them. In my place we say "Kanka" as thank you while Igbos from SE say "Da'alu", so stop being foolish some of us just want to learn.

This was part of the argument on Twitter, on why some Aniomas identify as Igbos and others don't. From the responses by the Anioma people (all clans included), they blamed Igbos from South East. Some said that Igbos from SE called them Delta Igbos or second class Igbos even after being corrected. Some others said they called them "fake Igbos" or accused them of twisting the language or borrowing the language.

Are they not fake if that is the case?

So they are more interested in knowing what we call them than who they are?

What's the exact definition of fake if not that.

Who are you to tell people what to discuss about?

Oga we share the same culture, we even share our border with Imo and Abia. Also in Etche/Omuma nobody denies being Igbo. It's called dialects, this a dialect of Igbo spoken by Etche and Omuma people. My people have a saying but the English translation is as follows; "Though tongue may culture/tradition remains the same".

You are not well exposed. How can you be comparing the entire SE of 90 plus LGA with Etche of just 2 LGAs( Etche and Omuma) ?

SE isn't a homogeneous zone. We are made of different Igbo clans and each clan have their own way of greeting.

Ngwa people greet " Maazi", Bende people greet "Jokwa", Okigwe and environment greet " Awuna/Awulaa", Nkanu greet "Deeyo", Anambra central use " Daalu", Ezza use " Tokwehu", Aro say "Mma mma" etc.

There are like tens of other specific greetings depending on part of SE one comes from.

So when an Etche man from 2 LGA ethnic group suffering from identity crises decides to group all Igbo groups in SE together and start comparing us with his new 2 LGA ethnic group, it can get annoying.

This superiority complex been displayed by the SE Igbos if true is totally uncalled for, who you dey form superior for... your fellow Igbo brethren? even though I've come to understand there are much more deeper dynamics that are responsible for all these denialism complexes. But I'm glad we're at least having these conversations so we can identify and resolve where the problems come from...I've e seen lots and lots of Igbos across the East coming on board proudly with their Igbo identity and it's been very encouraging! but more work definitely needs to be done.

What nonsense...

We are proud people, proud of our Identity and must show superiority over such.

Anyone not comfortable with it should cry in secret and wipe his/her tears.

But if it pains them , then let the person also be proud of his/her Identity.

Simple logic.

Have you heard the ogbaru or onitsha person call the igbo man "onye igbo"?
The way hausa will call the igbos nyamiri or yoruba will igbos "omo ibo"? You need to be around them more if you haven't.
I started by saying any any anioma person that does not see himself as an igbo needs to understand his ancestry.
