With p4 off, hold on button, it comes on, keep holding the button till u gear another beep, 7-10 secs, the ur in safe mode, rebuild database, the ish happenened cos there's been a lot of sudden power cuts, use ups or inverter, your hard drive might not be able to take it any longer, as for people shouting cd, una 20k disk never scratch b4? Each media has its own ups and downs.

Also several things can have one symptom, i only advice on the most likely case due to experience which i have more than any one in Nigeria with exception of a few engineers...
