The Hip TV boss is seen beginning his journey on the electric scooter from his office in Ikeja all the way to Eko Hotel in Victoria Island.

He said he made the journey on just one charge of the scooter.

He called it the "best way to navigate the city."

He’s a bloody liar. Just take note of the black G Wagon in both pictures and you guys can conclude. Except if he wants to tell me that there both arrived VIA at the same time.

God bless you for educating the clueless, my brother. When you break it down like this, and try to get them to understand that the infrastructure in our city is unsuitable for things like this, the cretins start to make noise. Some even insult you.

I pray that God enlightens their minds.....

The first thing is to fix our infrastructure first, before bringing in all these stuff. I know people who brought in hybrid cars about 5 years ago.

Many of them were later abandoned, after the large electric batteries developed problems, and needed to be replaced. Each of those specialised batteries, cost almost one million naira back then.

Today, whenever people talk about EV, I just laugh. When we still have areas that cannot boast of 8 hours of light each day?

There is even a greater environmental problem caused by mining for uranium and lithium, that has started rearing its' ugly head. But EV makers are suppressing the stories, because they don't want controversy. Also, those sites are in Africa so who cares??
Actually, EVs are way cheaper than petrol usage.
I recently took a closer look and was shocked by how cheaper it was to charge compared to fueling.
A single full charge can go for weeks of regular daily commute.
Even a couple of hours charge could last for a week in some models.

Ehen, and you get the power from where?
---
Average cars use Lead Acid 12 Volt batteries. The battery turns the kick starter (a small electric motor) to start the engine and then does nothing.
The alternator provides the rest of the electrical power for any electronics in the car and the sparkplugs.
The petrol engine does all the work.
-
Any Electric vehicle, having no petrol engine, have just the battery and a big electric motor.
Lead Acid battery will be too big and too heavy. So they use same type that is used in your phone, Lithiuim-ion.
Lithium ion is lighter and smaller and can discharge to the electric motor longer.

But it is extremely expensive.
And you still have to charge it IN YOUR HOUSE, with NEPA and Generator, for 8 hours, because there is no electric charging filling stations in this country.

You didn't make the car, you didn't make the battery, you didn't make the charging station.
You just imported another expensive gadget into the country.

So what have you gained?
I must acknowledge the fact that you're pretty much knowledgeable in this field, I gained something from your write up. Back to the subject matter, I own a BadBike 48V with motor 350W and I've been using it for almost a year, never a time have I regretted it. Its fast, quiet and smart, tho expensive. As for the battery they can be quite expensive, I did a battery replacement on my bike few weeks ago which cost me 300€( we all know the cost in naira). So yeah, in order to efficiently use these vehicles, you need steady power supply and good roads.

Nobody is oblivious of the messy state of electricity in Nigeria, I wasn't referring to Nigeria when I made my previous statement. So read well next time.

It's actually a progressive post.

E scooters can help with development.

Gaining traction in big cities in the west, but largely unregulated for now.

A single full charge can go for weeks of regular daily commute.
Even a couple of hours charge could last for a week in some models.
And the uranium which is used for the EV batteries which is already causing degradation of the environment in many countries, where uranium is mined? How is that going to be fixed?

Even the cost of charging EVs in Nigeria is unlikely to be cheaper than cost of petrol, as electricity supply is very erratic and not constant.

So people will rely on generators to charge EV. Isn't petrol or diesel going to b used to fuel those generators that will be used to charge the EVs? What is the cost of such petrol per litre, and how many kilowatts of electricity will be delivered by such generators to charge the EV?

Not only that, EVs are far more expensive than ordinary petrol vehicles.
