Neuville was a very short average striker who they used to play wide but were forced to play him through the centre because their erstwhile starting striker Carsten Jancker was a donkey. Bierhoff was long finished and Klose was a nobody. Jens Jeremies in DM, Metzelder, Ramelow and co in defence. It's the worst Germany squad I've ever seen. England even trashed them 5-1 in Germany before the tournament.

The only good players there were Ballack and Kahn, with Didi Hamman, Bernd Schneider and Torsten Frings the others I would consider decent. The other big names there like Linke, Bode and Bierhoff were way past their prime and should not have been still playing for Germany if not for lack of talent coming through.

On paper it was an average team...
But they were extremely solid, a well drilled side with a touch of the German efficiency...

Barcelona(No striker) Madrid(Benzema) City(Aguero) Bayern(Lewandoski), PSG(Icardi) all have relatively old strikers and they are looking, they are all very rich and some of them have a better chance of winning the CL than coming to drag with Werner, Grade B Kovacic, Foolishic, Giroud etc

Klose scored a hat trick vs Saudi Klose left the field to be substituted with Neuville, So how was Neuville who didnt meet Klose on the field helping him?
Klose scored 1 vs Ireland, Neuville did not play a single minute. So how did he help Klose?
Klose scored 1 vs Cameroun. Neuville was once again brought in as a sub for Klose. So they didnt meet on the field

Bottom line Klose never scored a goal when Neuville was on the field
So how did infact his (Neuvilles)presence was what allowed Klose to score as much as he did.

Most of Klose goals came against Saudi. He was a nobody then. Infact he was never great but did well for Germany at World Cups.

My memory on that World Cup aligns more with Raumdeuters own. I'm sure you watched that World Cup nice and well, but if your moniker of 1993 matches your birth year, then you may be lacking some context of the quality of those players that comes with knowing the players from club football before the World Cup. As a child, when a player shines in World Cup I automatically assumed he is one of the better players in the World eg Martin Dahlin in 1994 World Cup
