What your gov propaganda choose to call it is not what it really was. Yours was communism..the worst kind..like China and North Korea. Kenya practised capitalism but baptized it Africa Socialism. USSR was a communist state that call itself social state. North Korea call it's self the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea...yet we know it's hardly democratic or people centered.

Tanzania was a socialist, with a very small private sector.There was no time when we had no private ownership like those communist state.
Mining companies like williamson diamond in mwadui TZ have been in existence forever,so why are u saying we nationalized everything? Tell me Mr kibera.
Why have we had private hospitals like aga khan for all the time?
Even some farms have been in private ownership for ages!

Yeah SA is well-planned, we prefer small, compact and technologically advanced to massive, chaotic and dusty . We also know that runaway property investment can cause a painful economic bubble hence it's very hard to get approvals for skyscrapers willy-nilly.

We see some cities putting up skyscrapers anywhere without any thought given to the adequacy of utilities. That is why skyscrapers are sprouting next to small tiny 2-lane roads. One can only imagine the traffic congestion after a few years.

After -8% in 2020 that 4% growth is -4% from 2019 -1%. JZ is perfect excuse but South Africa problems stems from poor HCI (for country to move from mineral dependency to manufacturing), electricity troubles (ESKOM) and labour unions that are in bed with ANC. That is what is killing investment. Countries like Kenya and Ethiopia are going to fill that void.

In the 2018 report, Kenya had an HDI of 0.578, in 2019 that jumped to 0.601. Kenya, also in a pandemic, has raised its GDP from 95 billion (2019) to 101 billion in 2020. Kenya has a future.

Tanzanian communist state failed in 1985 when country became broke..Nyerere apologized for the failed experiment and retired owning only his bicycle. Ethiopia went through many famines until Meles zenawi in 90s took power and adopted some capitalism.Ghana became broke in 1962 and went through many famines until they dumped their communism.Kenya continue to do well despite being largely arid because we refused to go communist way.Kenya is more food secure than Tanzania and is well known food exporter...not just to regional markets but worldwide..all from 11% of it arable land
