I have been here a while and probably ignorant but does the share button do anything?.

I understand the like button to mean your support of a particular post or comment but the share, who are you sharing it to/with?. Like if you're done typing a document you want to share options like WhatsApp, Cloud, Fb, come up but here in nairaland nothing. I want to know please.

And if in the process it does nothing except used for voting like I see some people do on a given topic. I propose we now take share to mean downvote or dislike button.

Another traditional like button with the only difference of you seeing who shared your post, unlike the normal like button where you don't know who liked.

When you hit the share button, those who follow you will see that particular post and will know you were the one that shared it. They will have to hit the shared with me tab to see it. Likewise, if you press "Shared with me", you will see the posts that have been shared by the people you follow if any.

when I share a post here, it means I find the post educating and will wish to save it for future reference. because I can easily find the post I shared on my profile.

The share button allows your followers to see your post quickly once it's clicked
