You should have rebuffed that separately and not insuanate that South Africans speak bad because some of our people come from villages and therefore Kenyans speak better English, when the are villages all over Africa. Carol Manana hosted the Balon'd Or awards with that same bad English.

The variety of English you speak is British, since they colonised you, same to kenya...as opposed to Filipinos who speak the American variety. Dont confuse that with accent. The accent is always south african or Filipino. We were saying that your accent is very heavy , too heavy infact that you need foreigners, Kenyans especially, to broadcast internationally on your proud behalves

Kenyans speak upper class British English. This due to settlement of mostly upper class Brits in Kenya. South Africans speak lower/middle/common class British English because Brits of all classes settled there in large numbers - so common English accent is more common in South Africa.

The reason is historical...
In fact, the East African Protectorate(Kenya) is claimed to have attracted more peers and members of the upper classes than other colonies (Nicholls 2005:57).

The difference - btw Southern Africa English and Kenya English - I'd say is heavy British accent in Southern Africa - while Kenyans try to remove all accents and pronounce words "right".
