The South Can Also Withdraw Our Oil From Being Taken To The North - Afenifere by bolaayenimo(op): 7:30pm On Feb 26, 2021
Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Friday said Northerners cannot threaten the South with the withdrawal of cattle and other food produce as there are other alternatives where the items can be purchased.

There have been fears that an acute shortage of beef, vegetables, tomatoes and onions, among other essential edibles from the North may soon hit Southern Nigeria as foodstuff and cattle breeders, under the aegis of Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN) had four days ago threatened to withdraw their services.

However, Yinka Odumakin, the organisation’s National Publicity Secretary who spoke in a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT listed countries such as Togo, Benin Republic as friendly countries where the South can purchase cattle and other items withdrawn by the North.

He also said the withdrawal of foodstuffs by the North will benefit the South as it will make the people do more in the area of agriculture.

Odumakin who said there are other sources of protein that the South can consume aside from cows however said the Northerners shouldn’t also forget that the oil from the country flows from the North to the South.

“If they withdraw their cows from the South, no problem about that. Before cows, we had what we are eating. Cows are not the only source of protein, there are several other sources. It will encourage our people to do more in the area of agriculture.

“We have neighbours who are peaceful in Benin Republic, Togo and other places that we can buy things from. They can’t threaten us with anything such as withdrawal of item.

“They should also not forget that petroleum goes from south to the north. So, they should be careful. When you are throwing stones at your neighbours, you should be careful what he throws back at you,” he said.

You cannot do it, oil is northern assets, that's why we insist on taking the lion share of all oil resources.

Is crude oil refined in Nigeria or petroleum products imported through Lagos port?

I am asking for a friend

You think you have sense!

Meanwhile, Crude oil in Ondo is found offshore which is the state is not paid much by the federal government

So how will Ijaws in Ondo that are not sea dwellers become the owners of the Oil?

If only the South West has control over the Seme border and Lagos Port, this threat would have been meaningless.

But as it is, a simple border closure again coupled with years of neglect of agriculture in that region will make them vulnerable to this threat from the North

I've always wanted this. The lazy ass educated Youths who prefers working for someone for a token of less than a hundred thousand would have been motivated to venture into Agriculture.

Also those who have the mentality of "ONLY POOR PEOPLE FARM" would have been left with no other option. Even some uneducated youths have this mentality.

Invest in Agriculture, help yourself and help our economy.

He also said the withdrawal of foodstuffs by the North will benefit the South as it will make the people do more in the area of agriculture

They don't have, Mr ipoo that inferiority complex will not allow to answer wahwah name. All the tankers leaving for north depart your village in abakaliki so no Yoruba can burn them. The imported fuel is being offloaded in Ezza tanks farms. I also hear Dangote is building a refinary in your Isialangwa.
