In terms of gdp Nigeria carries the day in Africa. Kenya will need another 20 years to catch uup with Nigeria in GDP.
Here comes the other side. In logistics kenya beats nigeria hands down. In fact it was in 2018 when Kenya became the secind largest logistics hub in sub saharan africa after south africa.
It goes without saying that logistics goes hand in hand with roads, rail etc. That means kenya has better infrastructure only second to south africa in sub Sahara Africa.
Mombasa port is currently the second largest port in sub saharan Africa and the fourth largest in Africa.
Kenya has now grown economically to become the second largest exporter in comesa after Egypt. In fact the IMF noted that Kenya stands to be the second largest beneficiary of the afta after Egypt.
Over 5 years Kenya has overtaken Angola to become the third largest economy in sub saharan Africa. In the process Kenya has more than doubled the per capita income and pulled millions out of poverty.
In terms of actual numbers and percentage Kenya has less people in extreme poverty than Nigeria.
Kenyan investment in technology has attracted the top tech companies to make Nairobi their hub in africa.
At the moment Kenya is actually pulling companies from south africa like general electric which moved their african hq from joburg to Nairobi.
Toyota is also planning to move their HQ from south africa to dongo kundu special economic zone in mombasa once construction is completed. Same goes for Nissan.
I can say despite having a lower Gdp than Nigeria and south africa, Kenya has also done alot for itself in agriculture. It is now the 6 th largest producer and exporter of avocados in the world, tje second largest dairy producer and exporter in africa, the largest exporter of tea in africa and the largest exporter of flowers in africa. In fact the eu estimates that 40% of all flowers in the eu come from kenya alone.

Yes only mass rail will fix Nairobi traffic woes.Phase I will take ridership to 30k...but we need serious investment in proper light rail or metro.BRT is lipstick on a pig.

KQ in 2012 was the most profitable airline in the world. IT MADE A BIG BLUNDER IN OIL FUTURES OR HEDGE WHEN OIL WAS 100 DOLLARS PER BARREL. KQ will eventually get out of problem ..COVID has allowed it to do mass retrenchment without union or court's objections..Airline is fuel plus labour. The oil futures contracts are ending.So soon it will be out..of trouble ..especially if we give it jkia airport to manage

Kenyans speak upper class British English. This due to settlement of mostly upper class Brits in Kenya. South Africans speak lower/middle/common class British English because Brits of all classes settled there in large numbers - so common English accent is more common in South Africa.

The reason is historical...
In fact, the East African Protectorate(Kenya) is claimed to have attracted more peers and members of the upper classes than other colonies (Nicholls 2005:57).

The difference - btw Southern Africa English and Kenya English - I'd say is heavy British accent in Southern Africa - while Kenyans try to remove all accents and pronounce words "right".
