Nepotism Over Setting A Good Standard And Merit. by Dammyraph(op): 8:55pm On Feb 27, 2021
So many things are really going wrong in all sectors in our country. Corruption, Nepotism and Tribalism are taking over moralities, professionalism, and ethics. The just concluded Kwara State Teaching recruitment examination amazed me seeing the level of which nepotism and tribalism will keep making us lose the right standard we ought to set in our education sector. Going by the analysis of the cut off mark which is 50% for the indigene and 65% for non-indigene for TESCOM, and 40% for indigene and 60% for non-indigene for SUBEB is questionable and ridiculous, I felt so terrified. After much enquiries, either true or rumors, it was said that the board decided to place the cut off bench mark as such, having found out that the percentage of non indigene that passed the exam was higher than that of the indigene. So in a way to favour their indigene, they increased the cut off mark of the non-indigene applicants without considering the place of good standard, qualified and brilliant applicants who will impact positively and change the standard of the state education.
No one is against a state favouring their indigene, but in a situation like this, I felt fairness has lost it place. God help our country.
