A wonderful director not winning an Oscar doesn't depreciate his or her greatness. Some actors, great actors whose talents have been surreal, have been denied top awards, and it will never stop. It doesn't diminish their ingenuity, it's sometimes down to bad luck or wrong timing or being placed in very tough group.

Tupac, Notorious BIG, Brian McKnight, Queen, Guns N Roses and even Bob Marley etc., never got the Grammy, does it mean they are wack or that CardiB who has won a Grammy is a better rapper than Tupac or Biggie? Brazilian Ronaldo, one of the deadliest strikers of all-time, never won the UCL. Things like that happen sometimes.

@emboldened, Samuel L Jackson has acted over 30 movies in his lifetime, only a handful of them were with Tarantino. If being recycled by Taratino in his movies may be the reason he hasn't gotten that plaque, what about other movies with other directors as well? There have been great actors that haven't and still won't win the Oscar till they quit acting, not because they weren't great in acting.
