@emboldened, Samuel L Jackson has acted over 30 movies in his lifetime, only a handful of them were with Tarantino. If being recycled by Taratino in his movies may be the reason he hasn't gotten that plaque, what about other movies with other directors as well? There have been great actors that haven't and still won't win the Oscar till they quit acting, not because they weren't great in acting. That's what I'm trying to let you know, it has nothing to do with Erica. I'm strictly focusing on the post you made about Samuel L Jackson which I initially thought was for Tarantino.

Biggie, Tupac, at the time didn't receive any award because their music were considered too vague for the audience. I remember some parents didn't even like their wards listening to their songs because of the vague lyrics. So their songs at the time weren't considered good enough for awards.. Now, Bob marley and Dianna ross were subsequently given a Lifetime achievement awards at the grammys..

Back to the post about tarantino, I gave that reply based on the idiot implying that Samuel jackson had most of his movie roles from one producer; that is tarantino. If that is the case like he implied, it may be the cause of his lack of an oscar. It means the roles he's been getting by the recycled producer may not be showcasing his talent enough to earn him an oscars till now...I remember him complaining some years back about his boycott based on his race. Well Denzel got two oscars and he's black..So...

I wouldn't blame Samuel for the complaints because it's generally believed that blacks have been sidelined in the Oscars especially back in the day. It was like an open secret, he was just too bold to point the fingers. Everybody knows this. Even when Denzel won it in Training Day, it was widely regarded as a consolation price for being denied an Oscar award for his role as Malcom X. That was the magnum opus of his acting, but the organizers robbed him in broad daylight. So, I can't blame Samuel for his accusations but I get your point.

Anyway, good debate. Back to the fan wars

Diana ross is still alive. Possibly the reason why Diana ross didn't get an award earlier in her career maybe because of the Calibre of talents she was up against.
In her time, She stood against the likes of MJ, Lionel Richie, Prince and co... Now that was a tough competition..

I agree black artiste are mostly sidelined at most of these white organized awards. But no matter what, some still shine through. Especially those who couldn't be ignored because they are too good.
Personally, Samuel L Jackson is a safe actor to me. He hasn't acted anything spectacular in my view.

I like to watch actors who are unassuming. Almost like you are trying to get into their heads. Samuel L Jackson doesn't do that for me..Denzel does that for me..I don't blink watching Denzel solve a crime..

When you're good, you're good. Now I'm not discrediting Samuel L Jackson. He's a seasoned actor. But I have seen better actors..
