Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has appointed Malam Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba as the Mai Tangale.

The vacant stool was occasioned by the death of Dr. Abdu Buba Mausharu, the 15th Mai Tangale and only Christian monarch in the North-East, last month.

The selection process turned violent with three persons killed and property worth millions of naira destroyed in Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State as the crisis over the appointment of a new Mai Tangale deepened.

The residents and indigenes several times insisted on the choice of Dr. Musa Idris Maiyamba, a position the State Government isn't very comfortable with, instead preferring a Muslim, as alleged.

To forestall further crisis, the Gombe State Government had declared a curfew and suspended the appointment of a new Mai Tangale until today.

The Tangale are predominantly Christian with a small percentage of Islam and traditional religion as well.

Gombe Governor Appoints New Mai Tangle

In Excercise of the powers vested in him under the Gombe state Chieftaincy Law, 2020 and based on the recommendation of the Kingmakers of the Tangale Chiefdom, the Gombe state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of Malam Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba as the Mai Tangle.

The Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo who conveyed the Governor's approval and presented the appointment later to the new Mai Tangle in Poshiya, Billiri, said the the appointment of Malam Danladi Maiyamba was informed by his personal qualities and suitability.

The presentation ceremony was witnessed by the Chairperson of Billiri Local Government Council, 9 Kingmakers of the Billiri Chiefdom, members of the traditional council and other functionaries.

Presentation of Staff of Office will be done in due course.

The Gombe State Government was also petitioned in November last year, after the most Senior Judge, Justice Beatrice Iliya was excluded from the Chief Judge Nominees List, for being Christian; an act that drew widespread condemnation.

I've been to Billiri in Gombe State. The Tangaleze are Christians and peaceful people, well educated and hold high positions outside the state.

Now all that peaceful coexistence will be lost because of the Fulanization of the entire North and Nigeria championed by a very violent Jihadist called Buhari.

Tunder will not fail to fire and destroy all those that foisted this calamitous president on Nigerians especially the drug barron and bullion thief.

This is one of the results of a flawed Constitution.

Placing traditional institutions under the governors was a terrible mistake, they would always politicize such appointments.
