What are you saying no governor did what ambode did in 4 years till date Sanwo olu hasn't done any single project and has been commissioning ambodes projects. Lets look at it from this perspective, if Sanwo Olu abandoned this project and other projects left behind by their predecessors, what do you think will be the lots of the project and the millions of people living in that axis, the artisans, that worked at the site of the projects that earn little daily. What do you think people of Orile, Mile 2, Ijanikin will feel that the project that should have given them a sense of belonging and development in that axis was left to wroth for years after the people had lost their properties to the project, meaning they lost their properties in vain. How do you want them to feel? How do you want the mamas who earn little from sweeping of roads and packing of refuse feel when Ambode unceremoniously sacked them? Through the little they earn they feed their family and send their children to school to be a better person in the society so that they won't end up like them. Obasanjo knocks Ambode for abandoning Lagos rail project


Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has criticised former Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode for abandoning the Lagos light rail project while he was the governor of the state between 2015 and 2019.

“We borrowed to build a light rail in Lagos, embarked on the project and a succeeding governor abandoned the project for his full term of four years at 65 per cent completion when he should have started paying down on the loan,” Obasanjo said on Friday in Lagos as a keynote speaker at the “Why I am Alive” campaign.

Obasanjo also criticised Ambode of prioritising the construction of Oshodi bus interchange. The terminus was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari days before Ambode left office even though the project was not completed.

The formal construction of the rail lines began under Babatunde Raji Fashola, who is now Nigeria’s works and housing minister. He was succeeded by Ambode, who Obasanjo said abandoned the rail project that was almost completed.

State officials said, at different times, that the rail lines were a part of the blueprint for the development of the state. Ambode, who was kicked out by his own part after first term, was accused of abandoning the blueprint by his party.

On July 16, 2015, about two months after he came into office, Ambode assured that he would deliver the project to Lagos residents in 12 months.

That deadline fell on July 2016. However, five months after he promised to deliver the project in 12 months, he shifted the completion date to December 2016. But in November 2016, the governor made another volte-face, saying it would now be completed before the end of 2019.

Nigerians have expressed their disappointments over the continuous abandonment of the multi-billion naira ultra-modern Cardiac and Renal Centre at Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos.

Commissioned by the then governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola on March 18, 2015, the centre was established to address all critical non communicable diseases across the country.

However, a visit by Saturday INDEPENDENT last Wednesday, to the Renal Centre, showed how weeds, reptiles and other animals have encroached upon the property.

Funded by tax payers’ money, the apparent abandonment of the facility by the Lagos State Government has become a thorn in the flesh of Nigerians.

Work Resumes At The Abandoned Agege Pen Cinema Bridge


Pen Cinema road has been a pain for all road users either you trek or you are driving, this spot will likely make you have some discomfort. The project which was kick-started by former governor, Akinwunmi Ambode was to link Pen Cinema to other places like Iju, Fagba and other roads that are close by, ordinarily, this project ought to have been completed as it is at its 70% completion stage but we are surprised to see it abandoned.
