MUSIC IS HARAM IN ISLAM
but arabs play music. They play traditional music in saudi arabia, egypt, iraq, iran algeria, libya, Morocco and other arab lands but reject it in kano, katsina and zamfara. Very funny

Of course they are the last Igbo Minstrels. Nobody I mean nobody has been able to follow the path these Men both in music and it's rhythm..

If there exist any, maybe people should let us know?

The more reasons their musics are still been played and admired years after Joining the mother earth because no one has been able to come up with something of such marvelous pattern..

Op, u are talking of highlife.
What about the late traditional prime minister, Mezuo Pericoma Okoye from Arondizuogu?
I'm from Arondizuogu and Pericoma's kind of music was definitely not high-life.

igbos have varities of music. And i love good igbo music anytime anyday.
I can play osadebe from today till 2moro, and then play oliver decoque all through. And Morocco and those owerri, highlife, kabaka and the rest.
But when i want to go spritual, as an Aro man, i play pericomo okoye all the way.
He is a legend, not a native doctor. He is late.
That's why he is a native doctor.

Highlife died when this Legends died
I disagree to that.

Highlife will forever live; courtesy of osadebe and Oliver de coque.

There are some of his songs you will listen to, that would make you wonder, if they just released it from the other side.

... Nothing wey man do for this life wey people no go talk. y
ou chop, them go talk.
You no chop, them go talk.

Great son of ozubulu, may your soul rest in peace.

That man who always wear glasses while playing guitar, may God bless you with long life. You always mandate many of us to think about life with your rhythmical flow.

Osadebe and Oliver de coque = Lucky Dube and Bob Marley.

Osadebe and lucky dube are my top choices. If the songs on my phone are 1000, these two own 900+

This thread is timely, I have been listening to Chief Stephen Osadebe's Kedu American album on repeat since I downloaded Spotify a week ago.

Despite the fact I am a Yoruba man!
I don't even understand most of what he says but the I feel so good listening to it.

Music is truly a universal language!

Ah, this reminds me of my dad, I'm not really mad about highlife but still appreciate how much these guys gave to Nigerian music, unlike the bullshit of today. If we had carried on with highlife it would have been what the blues was to America but no,we just went ahead and copied rubbish.

Those days we had no larger choices than these 2 and they were highly promoted, hyped up and there was a rivalry between them which I believe they cultivated that made fans of one hate the music of the other and vice versa.

Today, there are a plethora of equally gifted or better artists but the environment is different.
Remember there was no internet /Instagram during their prime , all these new artist do is shout and have a good producer .. shikena
