I just spoke with a recruiter few minutes ago. It's one of those jobs I applied to and sincerely, I've forgotten about the job. I don't even remember the name of the company.

They were of course going to offer me a job as a Laravel developer but the company is in Lagos and I'm presently not in Lagos that's how the conversation ended.

They work is remote but they expect their developers to come to work once a week.

So guys, this thing works.

Funny thing is, I've not really started putting myself out there and I am getting this result(s).


Anyways, Lagos here I come.

They are offering 200k for a lead web developer position. I told them 350k last. They said they will call me back

Normally, it should be between 100 - 200k.

If you don't live in Lagos, remote work pays you a lot, rent is costly here, over there you can easily pay rent and setup other business.

I was basically raised where I am. I even schooled here. I'm tired, I need a change of environment. Besides I have relatives that are ready to accommodate me. So no excuse.

To hit the market running, well study what your environment needs. there are not too many ruby vacancy out there compared to PHP, nodejs and Django there except u are targeting foreign market.

You are on the right track. Ruby will help you understand liquid and theme kit very well. Don't spend too much time learning things deeply. Just learn the basic syntax, how to declare variables, loops, how to connect ruby to a database et al before properly jumping into Shopify. But cover your HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React. Shopify is very hot and underrated niche. Very good for remote jobs with good pay for junior Devs.

You need a backend language to work with shopify. With Shopify it's liquid which is just ruby on rails. It's the main language to do core customisations and integrations.
