The BIP is open to ALL sugar refiners in Nigeria, to incentivize them to replace imported raw sugar by growing sugar locally.

Land tenancy is a big problem in Nigeria, not only for agriculture, but also to industries.

I once witnessed a wealthy investor stressed beyond measure on land dispute after he has erected his factory building and commenced production, despite having procured his land through legitimate means.

At the end, he was held to ransom by some of the community leaders with enough local thugs. He had no option than to bow down to their will by paying double the initial land fee, imagine he isn't as wealthy to get more cash settlement... Land tenancy is a menace to industrialization

The fact this is the only site out of the FOUR Dangote Sugar sites means the issue is PECULIAR to this site.

Meanwhile, while admittedly I cannot claim to have all of the intimate details of the Zimbabwean farmers debacle, the core of their business remains active and viable in Kwara State, and is in fact the state’s biggest and most visible agricultural venture. Nonetheless, the parts of the initial land grant that was reportedly taken back from them, is currently underutilized and mostly fallow (I guess the political farmers are gone).
