Nsibidi is actually just the only writing system in eastern Nigeria recorded by the colonists that was partially decoded.

There were several scripts that colonists recorded, but no one was willing to translate for them or pretended they didn't know what they were talking. There was also talks of the remains of extinct scripts hidden in caves, stones and the like dating back millenia.

I believe that Igboland extending to parts of Central Africa was the birthplace of several Ancient African writing systems that haven't been discovered yet.
