authority2006:I think its from imported powder concentrate. They just add water and co. The whole business is to save on cost of transporting liquid milk from overseas. Ok let me share this true story There is this Alhaja in Lagos Island Market (Oke Arin) where they sell provisions, she is the biggest distributor for almost all popular milk companies in Nigeria. For years she refused to sell WAMCO products (Nigeria peak and three crowns milk). I don't know what the issue was. But everyday then, you would see WAMCO company sending representatives to her store to beg her to change her mind, but she would send them away frantically. She said she wanted to sell only imported Holland Peak. To make matters worst, she was selling the imported milk at almost the same price other were selling the Nigeria Peak. Major stores all over Nigeria were patronizing her, sometimes distributors who stocked Nigeria Peak would not be able to sell and the milk would eventually go bad. If someone like that is left unchecked, how will the companies in Nigeria survive? The only option for those companies is to use their influence and political connections to approach policymakers to introduce policies that would restrict importation of milk. Ordinary consumers are just puns in the whole game. The Alhaja in our story has been eventually arm twisted to start selling WAMCO products. |

ejanla077:I have seen Alhaja physically pushing one representative away from her store. This is not hear say. People come to Alhaja's store with ghana must go load of money and she tells them she doesn't have the time to count the money, that they should come back or go to bank. The nearby bank, anytime Alhaja's customers from the north (not even Alhaja herself) arrives, they close most other services. |

Right but milk is on average 1 EUR which is N550 per liquid so it can't be anyway cheaper. No body picks 1 EUR. South Nigeria is at fault here for over looking food productions even having more fertile land Chioma1989: |

Do not be deceived. These are all part of the agenda to keep Nigeria together because it is eminent that Nigeria is at the verge of splitting due to the Fulani herdsmen issues. What they want to do is to get a higher authority (EU) to support cattle grazing and subsequent dairy farming in order to give reasons for the Fulani herdsmen. Ngozi is even talking about “looking inwards”. Can’t you all see the plan? It was same Ngozi that visited Buhari 4 days ago and appreciated him and his cabal for influencing her recent appointment as WTO DG. |

sonnie10:What diary product from north do we have.....the Fulani nunu?? That is trash. There are good hybrid cows that are efficient in producing milk. In fact FG is just using politics to help few people there. The market should be open and regulated. This our local content development is a big deception, because, many are just hiking and inflating prices of small commodities. Ban on agricultural products with no strong investment into local mechanised production is just business as normal for many. |
| Re: EU Reports Nigeria To World Trade Organisation Over Dairy Restrictions by tonyson010(m): 2:28am On Mar 17, 2021 |
sonnie10:Too bad, because the policy that is introduced closes the market from open competition. Now the price of peak milk and co are rising higher. Govt should be truthful, supply funds to manufacturers, supply electricity and low taxation on local manufacturers......then give them slight edge in open competition. You can't close importation entirely, lest few hijack the process and inflate things the way they want. |

Which Nigeria get excess milk? You na no they those foreign mammary gland cows like Aberdeen can produce 15litres of milk dairy where as fulani can do more than 3-5litres a day |

Ellasure:People like this person here are the problem of Nigeria. How many of your products does the EU buy? Do you think killing your own industries to make theirs better will make them love you? Everything progresses with time. Before this government came to power, local rice was almost inedible but with time, after the policies of the FG, it suddenly got better. Today, there are some brands of local rice that can't even be differentiated from their foreign counterparts. If you don't support your own, no one will do it for you. At this stage we should be talking about exporting milk and meat to other countries and not importing. |

Jaqenhghar:I have to disagree with you here. Maybe you need to visit other parts of the north. The problem is the Archaic system of our Fulani brothers but the cows themselves are okay. And yes, they DO PROPDUCE KINDIRMO. Ko wancan satin naga ana siyarwa a hayin Danbushiya |

Crayfish09:.you are free to disagree but you cant argue with facts. A Holstein cow popular in Europe will produce anything from 20- 60 litres of milk in a day. The obes you are hyping here produce a few litres ( I doubt if its up to a gallon sef) because you got a few calabashes of the real thing doesnt mean the cows produce in commercial quantities Besides are you sure it is the real thing? |

BigBashiru:I read that few companies were exempted. “Accordingly, all authorised dealers are to note that all Forms ‘M’ for the importation of milk and its derivatives shall only be allowed for the following: Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria, Chi Limited, TG Arla Dairy Products Limited, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Nestle Nigeria Plc (MSK only) and Integrated Dairies Limited.”Why? Because..... The apex bank stated that the exempted companies have started investments in local milk production as part of the central bank’s backward integration plan. |
