inbreeding in grasscutter farming is very wrong and it would affect the offspring of your stock on the long run.
I try as much as possible to source my rat from different sources to avoid the possibilities of inbreeding

even in smaller animals inbreeding is not good, yet some human idiots choose to go down with their cousins.

It doesn't require much capital.

I have been in the business for 3 years now,trained lots of farmers,delivered colonies worth Millions and I use concrete cages for my grasscutters which is the best,it makes them comfortable in it like their normal habitat.

The most common challenge to a grasscutter farm is snakes,ants and cold.

so sad I lost one of the grasscutter to snake attack, but I average amended the cage and blocked every hole snakes can pass through.
grasscutter is a choice meat with low cholesterol, try are very easy to breed and the most important thing is there going.
they reached sexual maturity around the 7-8month and start reproducing.
one interesting thing about the meat is you spent virtually almost nothing to feed them which makes it very profitable.

Try making sure there are lots of light around their cages. You ca n also have a pen built insted of cage..... I hear snakes hate tobacco plants ( Dont know how true that is) . Maybe you can plant some around.

I'm seeing African Giant Pouched rats.

Rat that can eat iron, wood, concrete floor.

So nah this rat my trap catch, I come throway am. Ok.

I bought a colony (2males and 3females) on the 24/02/2021 for 80k, due to to their small sizes I used bokoharam net to cover the cage round so they won't escape.
grasscutter has a very sharp teeth, that was why I choose such net to prevent them from biting it and escaping.

You can buy rabbit cage net if you are a bit boxed up. Saves you all the hassles of those cane rats eating that boko net (that net is like chewing stick to them )

may God bless the works of your hand. But a colony is 1 male 4 females, one day you will wake up to meet empty cage because that boko haram net or what you call it can't hold a matured grasscutter. Talking from experience.

Is there a market for this after rearing them. Like poultry and others in the open market cos I'm not sure I've seen it being sold in the market
