Another important advantage of watermelon is that the price only crashes by mid june to early july thats the time when northerners do flood the markets with their produce as a smart southerner you can always harvest before them and sell without competition cause rains normally starts falling by march in the south while in the north rains usually resumes by either ending of april or at times may

Also note that watermelon don't ripe at once its harvested batch by batch the best way to identify a watermelon is by turning the part sitting on the ground if it turns yellow then it means the fruit is ripe

Going for the 50cm emitter spacing will be fine if you're using it for watermelon farm.

that's a wrong mindset don't just focus on capital and turn over rather focus on the learning process and at the end you will be clear on everything

cracking of water melon is caused by irregular application of water and/or calcium deficiency with enough water they absorb and become turgid with the lack of water they turn flaccid. The process of of becoming turgid and flaccid is the reason why they burst lack of soil calcium is another reason for bursting

also note that insects likes eating watermelon leaves when it germinates but at this stage applying insecticide directly on the leaves can kill the plant so the best way to do it is to apply pesticides around the planted areas this will keep insects away from the plant applying insecticide directly on the leaves should be done when the melon is 2 weeks old cause at this point the plant is matured

Thanks, but will glyphosate not be injurious to the plants?

I think glyphosate drifts and the droplets can be injurious to the plant more so when watermelon is a crawling plant. How do you navigate the constraint?

Thanks

Lol @feeling special..

The only time you can assume 70% organic is if u grow what u eat....

Otherwise, it is the other way...But conventional method is the only way to guarantee self sufficiency in food production for any country...

Beef and other foods are excess in countries like USA, Canada etc...It's because the grow more conventional than organic.

Naija beef is to a certain percentage more natural than elsewhere.
But it is not that affordable compared to how cheap and easy u can get beef in USA and Canada.

What about Nigerian oranges? Are they at least organic?

Some Nigerians in the diaspora have attested to how almost tasteless those foods are. Especially meats and poultry.

Yes oranges can be organic to a certain percentage... Na mostly from villagers them the buy am from...Person web never see money chop , na to use fertilizer plant orange..grin

Yes the meat can be tasteless regarding how they were just fed on synthetic feeds...And fast growth boost.

And u know light is 24/7 over there......most times they feed them 24/7...To get the taste of meat from the domestic animals, allow them follow the natural way...waking 6am and sleeping 7pm..Its a secret most poultry farmers aren't aware..

Oto a m nor, I can't eat fast food chicken o..Their was a year I had a getaway with babe, ya si m zuta roasted chicken, I just buy for am..I no taste o..cheesy my best poultry meat is turkey, followed by spent layers.

I prefer fish to anyother protein.
