Dalohad: Ah.. Galadima. Very proud man that year.
I remember when he was told to resign for failing to qualify Nigeria for 2006 world cup after Angola beat us in Kano. He refused to resign and said 'World cup is not Nigeria's birth right.'
Fans didn't support playing that match in Kano, because it was hot and our Euro-based players would struggle against the Angolan team players who were largely based in Africa, but Galadima was adamant. It was either his way or the highway.
That game was like a home match for the Angolans and truly Akwa (the Angolan dangerman) struck, kicking Nigeria out of the FIFA qualifiers.
2006 word cup would have been a great one for Obafemi Martins who was our hottest striker that year, regrettably. do you remember figuredo that white guy for angola |

Saturnalia: I watched two movies recently that I enjoyed.
1.) District 9 - 2009.
I have always enjoyed Sci-Fi movies. This one stands out. One would think this movie was filmed in Nigeria with the way they kept on mentioning “Nigeria”.
I rate this movie 8/10.
2.) Mr. Brooks - 2007.
Kevin Costner is one my favorite actors. This thriller really got me deeply entertained.
I rate this movie 9/10. i watched district 9 on gotv |

Ishilove: Noomi's character roles in that movie were not dramatic. Some of the characters didn't even have up to one minute screen time. Before Noomi, there was James McAvoy who played 23 characters in Split in 2016 and the man was not nominated for the Oscars. That man must be the most underrated actor in Hollywood. Now you ask me about Noomi, and I am asking you about James.Till date I am still asking why he was totally snubbed. The simple answer is "politics" and star power. Michael Jordan has star power and if you put him side by side with Timothee, Michael is the bigger and more experienced actor. Of course Ethan Hawke, Moura and Leonardo Di Caprio are also more experienced than Timothee, but Micheal is the rave of the moment and has a great PR team who lobbied massively for him.
Experience alone is not the only determining factor for winning the Oscar. If it was by experience Adrien Brody wouldn't have won for his performance in The Pianist at the young age of 29 back in 2002. There are so many factors involved. what was the criteria used in awarding lupita nyongo in 12 years a slave |

abduleez1: Was craving for Nollywood content over a week ago, and the noise and rave I was hearing about was Behind The Scenes. Downloaded it, yet to watch but I had the hunger for more serious fare and went on a deep search for some of the best Nollywood content released in the last few years and saw a few like The Herd, Gwoza etc. Yet to watch tho.
Hopefully would take time to.
Pertaining to this movie, suicide is a serious topic over here. And it's good Nollywood are thinking about this kind of stories recently without all the sensationalism but the problem still remains. Top shelf films like these hardly gets widespread acclaim and publicity asides the slops we've come to expect. Which is sad to see.
Cos I've seen similar comments on social media and came across something like this few months ago with a commentator saying films like My Father's Shadow was what should be getting the limelight not the likes of Everybody Loves Jenifa or Return of Arinzo. 🙄🙄
Or maybe we should start rethinking our distribution model. Cos the really good ones somehow shrinks in anonymity. try and watch Ada omo daddy by mercy aigbe. Its superb |

CharleyBright: Yes. The book - Oil, Politics and Violence did vividly described what played out in the Dimka Coup and the actors in the whole incidence. Buhari (who is a staunch protégé of Murtala Mohammed) was a key actor in foiling that coup. Anyone that read those books before 2015 elections would have known who Buhari truly is and would not vote for him. Before i read Oil, POlitics and Violence, i had always perceived Murtala Mohammed as a gentle soldier. But the book depicted that he was a hard and stubborn soldier who had at many times openly threatened to deal with General Gowon, and he eventually overthrew Gowon and became the Head of state after ousting Gowon with the help of his staunch loyalists. Infact, the book narrated that Murtala was killed by those Loyal to Gowon as a revenge 6 months after Murtala ousted Gowon. the book further indicated that those times were very deadly times in the Military when there was distrusts and bad blood in the Military so much that everyone was scared of being assassinated, and after Murtala was killed, there was vacuum in the Military Headship for over 2 weeks and everyone ( Obasanjo and co who were highest officers then) refused to become Head of State. However, Obasanjo was almost forced to be Head of State so as to change Leadership to the Southern Nigeria to doused the Bad that had brewed between the Northern Military Christians camp ( The Langtan block and loyalist to Gowon) on one hand, and the Northern Military Muslims ( The Murtala Mohammed loyalist) on the other hand. Anyone who wants to know why Nigeria is the way it is today should go and read 'Oil, Politics and violence" by Max Siolliun, And also the sequel of that book called - "Soldiers of Fortune" by same Author. But Books are Masterpieces that gives detailed accounts of every Top Nigerian Military officer since independence and their different roles in the Military to bastardized and destroyed Nigeria.

FreeSpirited: No be steps in the shoes of an earlier minister or prophet, it's only by divine will and permission that such does happen. . Jesus made Peter the first leader of the church after his own demise, and Peter spoke and represented Christ on the day of Pentecost. Peter dint make himself . . Elijah gave Elisha a condition, if he would have a chance to be his successor, otherwise he would have been ordinary . Moses, take out of his spirit to come upon 7o elders, they dint force the spirit on themselves. Moses did. Moses also commissioned Joshua to step in his shoe. In fact it was God who told Moses to commission Joshua to step in his shoe .. .. Discover the divine will of God for your life and continue to walk in that direction. If you remain faithful enough and heaven smiles on you by mercy, heaven would commission you into an assignment or send someone to lift or help you into an office. You can't by your own wishvaccomplish these things and step into shoes or mantle of predecessor. Only heaven can make men how will God judge Muslims |

nedekid: My late paddy a medical doctor in Lagos state health ministry employ back in the day said it was a regular occurrence then to beat or use force on some women. We argued that day but he tried to explain that sometimes it has to to with saving lives. He said some women will be so lazy to push, some will be so pampered and spoiled they will be doing baby baby, meanwhile the child's head is stuck and time is a matter of life or death. He said in that situation will you be begging the woman? He said some women will be slapped and that adrenalin rush will make them push! He said to take injection nko, to get stitched some women will refuse, meanwhile life is at stake. Have you seen women weight lifters? Before they carry weight, their coach will come from the back and give them heavy slap, the rush of adrenaline will give them power boost and they carry the weight. I hear that in za oza room when nacking some guys will slap that ass, it will ginger the woman more, infact some will tell you slap my ass (I don't know ohh that is what I heard). Anyway, I had my first child at saint Ives Ikeja back then, they had a nurse who's job was to hold the woman's hand and pet her, infact it was as if the nurses job is to be constantly begging the woman, set her hand for the woman to squeeze, bite, pinch etc lol. On the other hand my guys wife had theirs at crystal akowonjo road few months later. Omo after she gave birth she sent for the midwife abi nurse and landed her heavy dose of slaps, why? She said the lady dealt with her while giving birth, say na so so slap she de receive from the nurse say e remain make nurse bring koboko enter labour room, lol. you dey slap during room activities? |
