One of Nigeria’s controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, with the stage name Portable has referred to himself as a mad man undergoing psychiatric treatment.

The singer while appealing to Nigerians and the Ogun State government said he is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.

Portable’s decision to refer to himself as someone undergoing some psychiatric challenges comes barely 12 hours after the Nigeria Police Force declared him wanted.

Trouble started for the singer after he got involved in a fight with Town Planner (TPL) Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi who are all staff of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office.

The town planners who were on monitoring assignment visited a supposed building belonging to Portable. They, however, met the singer’s father who informed them that his son was not available and that he could not provide the documents the planners were requesting.


Despite identifying themselves at the building which houses Odogwu Bar, owned by Portable, things went awry when the singer accompanied by a gang of nine armed thugs attacked the officials.


The police said that the nine armed thugs were arrested but the singer fled the scene of the incident and has since gone into hiding. This led to the Police declaring Portable wanted in the early hours of Tuesday.

Reacting via his Instagram page, Portable said, “I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients.

“I am from Abeokuta and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief, I help people around me without even looking at their background.”

Two months ago, my landlord fixed metre for everyone in the compound and we using BandA

Firstly that practice of looking for the house in the street that always has its bulb on to alert neighbours that there is light doesn't happen to me, cos most times my compound has light even if the entire street doesn't have light, this made me believe there is always 24hrs electricity on high tensions wires, na u no just deh get light.

Secondly It saves me the stress of always cooking cos I can now cook 25k worth of soup and stew, put it in fridge and eat it for more than 2weeks, thanks to this, I do not have the urge to eat outside and my cost of living was drastically reduced, I can survive on 80k a month even with all the inflation.

Thirdly, I do not have the need to put on my generator, 5k worth of fuel can't keep my gen on till morning if I had to put on AC too.
But now 25k to 30k worth of electricity can cover me for the entire month, I only have a big tv, 1hp AC, a fridge and a fan.

I can easily be sure of 17hrs light everyday and no night sweating anymore.
