Former Governor of Benue State and serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, George Akume, has informed President Muhammadu Buhari that his people are not happy with him for his cold reaction over the killing of his kinsmen in the state.
Akume recalled that Benue people overwhelmingly voted for Buhari in 2015 despite the fact the then Senate President, David Mark, who is a member of the PDP hailed from the state.
He called on the president to help end the killings of citizens in the state.
He said, “Your Excellency, you could recall that Senator David Mark was Senate President while Suswam was the Chief Security of the State, yet the Tiv people voted for you in 2015.
“We have no federal project in Benue State, Ortom does not make law, Benue People made the law, JS Tarka fought for the unity of our country Nigeria, Mr. President the Tiv people are not happy about your reaction towards the killing of Tiv farmers by Fulani herdsman.”

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has decried the low participation of women in the country’s governance.
She called on more women to participate in politics so as to make it easy to actualize the 35% affirmative action under her husband’s administration.
According to her, the role of women is one of the important determinants of development in any administration.
Mrs Buhari said this when she had audience with All Progressives Congress (APC) state women leaders who paid her a courtesy visit Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“I urge you all as women leaders to rally members and also encourage candidates with capacity for leadership and integrity to contest for elective positions in order to achieve the 35% affirmative action under my husband’s administration,” she said.
Mrs Buhari commended the women leaders over the unity they have exhibited, saying it has given her courage.
“It is this unity that has led you to come up with a forum to speak with one voice and I hope that this unity will endure, even among women at the state level and at the grassroots,” she said.
The wife of the President also called on the women to continue to support the activities of the party, saying all the empowerment and medical outreach programmes she undertakes through Future Assured programme are not only to complement party manifesto but to ensure more inclusion and economic empowerment among women.
Also speaking at the event, wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo commended the unity among the women leaders and urged them to continue to show good example by managing the affairs of women in their states well.
Speaking earlier, The APC Women leader FCT, Mrs. Hailmary Aipoh recognized the motherly role of Mrs. Buhari, saying they are proud to have her as mother of the nation.
She said as mobilizers of women at the grassroots, they are witnesses to the good things she is doing especially to empower women.
Aipoh expressed optimism that the party will succeed in executing its programmes and “very soon there will be testimonies from Nigerians”, adding that the leaders have resolved to continue to work together and support the good works of the ruling party.
Mrs. Aipoh led a team made up of women leaders from the 36 states.
At the event were women leaders including the Deputy National Women Leader of the APC, Chief Tina Adike and wife of the Governor of Sokoto state, Mrs. Maryam Mairo Tambuwal.

Fiorentia captain, Davide Astori, died of a “cardiac arrest by natural causes”.
The 31-year-old was found dead at the La di Moret hotel in Udine , ahead of his side’s meeting with Udinese on Sunday.
The match and all Serie A fixtures on Sunday, were subsequently cancelled.
Astori was found on his bed by a club masseuse, before being taken to a local hospital for an autopsy.
“The idea we have of the situation is that the player died of cardiac arrest by natural causes.
“It is strange that such a thing should happen to a professional who is so closely monitored and showed no warning signs,” Udine prosecutor, Antonio De Nicolo, said.
Astori leaves behind his partner, Francesca Fioretti, and a two-year-old daughter, Vittoria. He had been due to sign a new contract with the Viola on Monday.

In a bid to celebrate the 47th anniversary of China-Nigeria diplomatic ties, the Government of the Peoples Republic of China has offered scholarships to 47 students of the University of Calabar.
The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjiang, while presenting the award to the school management, said that Nigeria and China had many things in common.
PingJiang said, ”while China has the largest population in Asia, Nigeria has the largest population in Africa.
“Also, we are the largest economy in Asia and the second largest in the World while Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa”.
Pingjiang also praised the management of the University of Calabar for its strides in academic and infrastructural development within four decades of its existences.
Thanking the Chines Government for choosing the institution for the scholarship award, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu said the gesture was a testimony that UNICAL was receiving international recognition.
Akpagu, therefore, announced that the institution had initiated a move to set up an Institute of African and Asian Studies.
The 47 beneficiaries of the scholarship according to the News Agency of Nigeria were drawn from various departments of the university.

A Herdsman
The Nigeria Police Force has said it cannot arrest herdsmen who allow their cattle to stray onto and graze on airport runways in the country, according to Punch.
Speaking on Friday in an interview, the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, Mustapha Dandaura, stated that the herdsmen could only be arrested in states where the anti-open grazing law was effective.
However, Dandaura said that all policemen and other security officials at the airports had been instructed to stay on high alert to prevent a situation whereby cows would take over airport runways.
He said, “It’s only in states where the anti-open grazing law is in place that herdsmen can be arrested for allowing their cattle to graze on airport runways. Apart from those states, we have not been told to start arresting herdsmen.
“But we have already alerted our men at the airports to ensure such incident does not occur again. The state police commands have also been carried along and everyone is on the alert.
“We can’t have a situation whereby cows would be straying onto and grazing on airport runways because it is embarrassing. Everyone is now on the alert and it’s going to be prevented.”
Last Saturday, an Air Peace flight from Lagos had been prevented from landing at the Akure Airport, Ondo State as cows took over the runway.
It had taken the efforts of airport security and other aviation workers to clear the runway before the airplane landed.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria had apologised to the airline affected and suspended the head of aviation security at the airport following the bizarre incident.
A similar incident had occurred in November 2016 when a fully-loaded plane belonging to Air Peace had to abort landing at the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, Imo State when the pilot discovered that the runway had been invaded by cows.
Before the Owerri episode, an Air France plane was reported to have collided with cows at the runway of the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Workers in Kogi State have begged Governor Yahaya Bello to pay them their salaries before they all die of hunger in the state.
Speaking on behalf of Kogi workers in the state, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Onu Edoka, on Friday at an event to mark the 40th anniversary of the union in the country said that the government should pay its workers who have diligently served the state.
According to Punch, workers in Kogi were paid 60 per cent of five months’ salary arrears last December and had yet to be paid January salaries.
Edoka, in a keynote address said, “Your Excellency, workers said I should ask you where our salaries are. As obedient servants, we are dying. As people who have contributed their quota in the development of the state and have left service, we are dying.
“To this end, we wish to compassionately appeal to you. We are aware that allocation came to Kogi State last month and by the statement of the Commissioner for Finance, what came as allocation to the state was put at N4.3bn while local governments got N3.8bn. But up until this moment, no salary has been paid in Kogi. Let our own not drop into River Niger again (sic).”
Edoka equally used the forum to speak on the alleged premature retirement of some workers, proscription of labour unions and the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by medical doctors in the state.
He said, “You will agree with me that appointment in this government has been upside down in the sense that junior workers are placed above seniors.
“Medical doctors in Kogi have been on strike for over one month. Mothers, children are dying at home. For this obvious fact, we appeal to the state government to call our doctors to a meeting and bring this mater to an end.
“Why the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have not joined the strike is because we have come to the realisation that strike may not be the solution to our problems any more. It is all about the person who is the chief executive and his state of mind on the development and welfare of workers.
“The proscription of unions in Kogi is completely detrimental to the progress of democracy, unacceptable to the Nigeria Labour Congress and completely illegal, and we shall not stand by it.
“We will speak for the voiceless and the same voice will still speak again. We shall resist it with the last drop of our blood to see that we will not be tamed in any form or turned beggars in our state.”
In his response, Bello said that the ongoing fight against corruption across the country would achieve greater success if organised labour strengthened itself and worked with the government to fish out corrupt officials.
Bello urged the NLC to fight for the welfare of Nigerian workers and play the role of whistle-blower to assist government in bringing corrupt officials to justice.
The governor, who was represented at the occasion by his deputy, Simon Achuba, congratulated labour on its 40th anniversary and enjoined its leadership to always stand for what is good for workers and the country.

Ultimately, it'll even let you decide to never see them pop up in your newsfeed.
Although not all relationships are such that you'd be inclined to completely "take a break," as the feature is called, but if you're dealing with an especially painful divorce, the end of a serious long-term relationship, or are otherwise really struggling with the demise of your relationship, it definitely could help ease some of that pain.
Beyond blocking your ex completely or never seeing them in your newsfeed at all, the social media network will also let you archive your message thread with them or turn off the site's "scrapbook sharing" feature. If you want to be able to hold on to your conversation or make sure that you won't see those "on this day" posts of photos of the two of you from the past, Facebook's got you covered there too.
According to a 2013 study, spending more time on Facebook is associated with "negative relationship outcomes" like cheating, breakups, or divorces. This was only the case for those who'd been in their relationship for three years or fewer, not those in longer-term relationships. Although this was only one study, there are others that also show that the more time you spend on Facebook, the greater your chance of experiencing jealousy, relationship dissatisfaction, or the likelihood of a breakup.
Whether spending time browsing Facebook potentially contributed to your breakup or not, it's at least nice that it might be able to help you get over it.
Regardless of how you answer the questions in the "breakup flow," unless either of you unfriends or blocks the other, you'll still be able to go directly to their page and see whatever you'd like if you want to, as CNN reported.
And although limiting what you see of your former partner won't make the breakup a total breeze, it just might help you feel a little bit better until you're at a point where you're ready to see them occasionally pop up in your newsfeed again, should that day ever come.

Since 1990, there has risen a crop of preachers that has raised up a celebrity church in our nation and continent. Before then, most of our churches follow the pattern of Jesus in the Bible, but since then, there had been a gradual shift from the core of Jesus church to a church of celebrity. Sadly, most young preachers of today know next to nothing about the Church Jesus promised to build in Mathew 16:18, almost everyone wants to raise a church of celebrity.
Marks of Celebrity Church
Celebrity church is a church where the preacher is a celebrity, wants to be a celebrity, thinks he is a celebrity and desires to attract worldly celebrities; is a church built by man’s educational, social and class considerations; is a church where there is no difference between the world in fashion, class, status and social standing and the church; is a church where selected truth of God’s word is spo-ken in a mild, non-offending, so-cially acceptable ways; is a church that does everything to attract the creme de la creme of society and bless them with positions, seats and titles; is a church that pursues excellence, success and achieve-ments in every area; is a church where your fashion sense, finan-cial strength and business connect-ions are crucial and celebrated; is a church where the physical structure, buildings and facilities are of top notch; is a church where your private, personal and moral lives are your private affairs; is a church that makes God to work for you even if you don’t know Him in a personal way; is a church where the pulpit is entertaining, celebrating and compromised; is a church where talking about sin is a big taboo and genuine repent-ance is lost word; is a church where people come to pray, besiege God with their self-inflicted problems only and do prophetic acts of seeds upon seeds sowing, and is a church that copies the pattern of other preachers, without checking their bibles, simply because they too want to belong.
This is a very popular mode of church today. Everyone wants to raise a celebrity church here and there. I have found myself in trouble a few occasions because I was invited to a celebrity church and am preaching the message of Jesus there, I was blacklisted since then from their pulpits!
Marks of Jesus Church
Jesus is the Founder, Foundation and Head of His church. Being used by Him to build His church here means that we must align with His revealed will in the scriptures and obey the leanings of His Holy Spirit to raise a church that will be holy, spotless and glorious. Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 5:26-27.
The church of Jesus is comprised of those who have been called out of sin, serving Satan and idols; is a church of saved, sanctified, sep-arate and distinct people unto the Lord; is a congregation of disci-ples, devotees and dedicated foll-owers of Jesus, irrespective of tri-be, class, status and tongue; is an assembly of people that lives to please God, obey His word in every area of their lives and, diff-erent from sinners around them; is a church that loves the truth, live the truth, walk in the truth, stand in the truth of God Word in their daily lives; is a fellowship of believers that are in the world, but the world is not in them because they are not of the world; is a church that is a true salt, light that dispel, rebuke and drives away the darkness around them; is a church that lives for Jesus unashamedly, proclaim Jesus by deeds, actions and seeks to bring others to Jesus on a regular basis; is a church that fights sin, disciplines sin, speak and stand against corruptions of every kind; is a church that is a shinning examples of Christlike-ness in every area, by both preach-ers, pastors and people; is a church that is careful not to bring reproach and derision to the name of Christ by controversial doct-rines, practices and lifestyles.
This mode of church is very rare today. We build our own churches, not the church of Jesus. Converse-ly, we have become a ridicule to the world and hatred against the church is rising in our nation. That is why the Church in our na-tion has little or no influence to affect things positively for God, even when we have so-called Christians in power and sensitive positions in government. So, which church are you building? Celebrity church or Jesus church? You will have to answer now, or later. But make no mistake, you will answer this question one day.

Nigerian sprinter Divine Oduduru a.k.a ‘Mr. I never expered it’, who was a gold medalist in both the 100m and 200m events at the 2013 African Youth Athletics championships, has been named athlete of the week by the Big 12 Conference over his performance at the Texas Tech Open where he broke records and shone brightly.
Oduduru who cleared out his previous 20.49 seconds school record with a new world-leading 20.18 mark which also ranks as third NCAA all-time record, broke the university’s 20-year old school record in the 200m indoors meet on Saturday.
With a new record of 6.64 seconds to top his previous time of 6.66 at the Texas Tech Open 60m dash, Divine helped the Texas Tech men’s track & field program reach second-place in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association indoor rankings.
Oduduru clocked three top-two all-time Texas Tech marks, two of which were school records. In the 60-meter preliminaries, Oduduru topped his previous No. 2 ranked 6.66 time with a new mark of 6.64. He then went on to claim the new school record title with a 6.58 final mark, also serving as the third-ranked 60m time in the nation.

Andrew Hudson ran alongside Divine Oduduru, also outpacing Oduduru’s former school record time of 20.49 with his new lifetime-best run of 20.42. Hudson’s mark sits second in the world 200-meter rankings.
