The stories of innocent lives lost and communities shattered are heart-wrenching, and we cannot stand by and watch as our homeland crumbles under this siege of terror.

Hunger and malnutrition plague our nation despite our fertile lands. Our farmers, who should be the backbone of our food security, are besieged by inadequate infrastructure, lack of modern farming techniques, and the ever-looming threat of violence. It is a travesty that in a land of such bounty, so many go to bed hungry.

Our education system, once a beacon of hope, is now struggling. Schools lack basic resources; teachers are unmotivated and underpaid, and our children are deprived of the quality education they deserve. Have you ever felt lost, unsure of your path, or overwhelmed by life's choices? You're not alone. Many of us struggle to find clarity and direction in our spiritual journeys. In Part 1 of this series, we explored the foundations of divine guidance, unveiling the transformative power it can have in our lives. Now, in Part 2, we will dive deeper into the common obstacles that hinder us from fully experiencing this divine direction, the consequences of ignoring it, the blessings that come with it, and the critical decision of whom to follow: your own desires, satanic influences, or divine guidance.

Imagine for a moment that your life is a ship navigating through the vast ocean. Without a compass or map, you'd drift aimlessly, vulnerable to storms and uncertainties. Divine guidance serves as that essential compass, leading you toward peace, purpose, and fulfillment. But what happens when we neglect this guidance? And more importantly, how can we overcome the barriers that prevent us from embracing it fully?

Overcoming Hindrances to Divine Guidance:

• Doubt and Unbelief:

One of the most significant barriers to experiencing divine guidance is doubt. We often question whether God truly speaks to us or if we are worthy of His direction. James 1:6-7 reminds us, "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord."

Solution: Cultivate a heart of faith. Surround yourself with scriptures and testimonies of God's faithfulness. Regularly remind yourself that God desires to guide you (Jeremiah 29:11).

• Distractions and Noise

In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, leaving little room for quiet reflection and prayer. The constant noise can drown out God's still, small voice (1 Kings 19:12).

Solution: Prioritize quiet time with God. Create a daily routine that includes moments of silence and solitude, allowing you to hear His voice more clearly.

• Sin and Disobedience

Sin creates a barrier between us and God, making it challenging to hear His guidance. Isaiah 59:2 says, "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear."

Solution: Confess and repent of your sins. Seek God's forgiveness and strive to live a life of obedience. Psalm 51:10 encourages us, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."

• Fear and Anxiety

Fear can paralyze us and prevent us from stepping out in faith. We worry about the unknown and potential failures. Yet, 2 Timothy 1:7 reassures us, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Solution: Replace fear with trust in God's promises. Meditate on scriptures that emphasize His protection and provision, such as Psalm 23:4 and Isaiah 41:10.

The Cost of Ignoring Divine Guidance:

Ignoring divine guidance can lead to significant consequences in our lives. Here are some of the costs we might face:

• Missed Opportunities

When we fail to heed God's direction, we miss out on the blessings and opportunities He has prepared for us. Proverbs 3:6 says, "In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Ignoring His guidance can lead to detours and delays in fulfilling our purpose.

• Increased Struggles and Hardships

Going against God's guidance often results in unnecessary struggles and hardships. Jonah's story is a prime example. When he ran from God's command, he faced a violent storm and ended up in the belly of a great fish (Jonah 1:1-17). Obedience to divine direction can spare us from many avoidable difficulties.

• Spiritual Stagnation

Without divine guidance, our spiritual growth can become stagnant. We may find ourselves going through the motions without experiencing true transformation. John 15:5 reminds us, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

The Blessings of Divine Direction

Conversely, embracing divine guidance brings about incredible blessings:

• Peace and Assurance

Following God's direction fills us with peace and assurance, knowing we are on the right path. Isaiah 26:3 promises, "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."

• Divine Provision and Favor

When we align ourselves with God's will, we experience His provision and favor. Psalm 23:1-2 beautifully illustrates this: "The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters."

• Fulfillment of Purpose

Divine guidance leads us to fulfill our God-given purpose. Ephesians 2:10 declares, "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Walking in His direction ensures that we live out our true calling.

Guiding Yourself, Submitting to Satanic Guidance, or Divine Guidance:

Every day, we make choices about whom to follow: our own desires, satanic influences, or God's divine guidance. The stakes are high, and the consequences are eternal.

1. Self-Guidance

Relying solely on our wisdom can lead to pride and missteps. Proverbs 14:12 warns, "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death." Self-guidance often lacks the foresight and wisdom that come from God.

2. Satanic Guidance

Submitting to satanic guidance is dangerous and destructive. Satan's aim is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). His guidance may appear appealing, but it ultimately leads to ruin and separation from God.

3. Divine Guidance

Choosing to follow divine guidance is the wisest and most fulfilling choice. Psalm 32:8 assures us, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." God's guidance leads to life, peace, and eternal rewards.

Conclusion

Embracing divine guidance is not always easy, but it is essential for living a life of purpose and fulfillment. By overcoming the hindrances of doubt, distractions, sin, and fear, we can open ourselves up to the incredible blessings that come with following God's direction. Ignoring His guidance comes at a great cost, leading to missed opportunities, increased struggles, and spiritual stagnation.

Ultimately, the choice is ours: to guide ourselves, submit to satanic influences, or follow the divine guidance of our loving Father. As we choose to seek His direction, we can rest assured that He will lead us on the path of righteousness, filling our lives with peace, provision, and purpose. Remember the words of Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

So, let us commit today to seeking and embracing the wonders of divine guidance, allowing God's wisdom and love to illuminate our path and lead us into a future filled with His blessings and glory.

Has it ever happened to you that a message you really liked has been delivered to you during Sunday sermon, only to fade away with the start of the following Monday? Maybe you’ve chosen to read a scripture verse each day for your devotions, then events interfere with your plans, and you fall off. You're not alone. In today’s teaching, we shall be exploring the benefits of self-motivation as a Christian: a Christian's guide to thriving spiritually and personally.

This teaching aims to examine some of the primary challenges and difficulties faced by Christians, particularly at self-motivation in their Christian as well as personal lives. However, I will like to inform you that self-motivation, based on Christianity can get you excited even in your relationship with God and other aspects of your life.

Understanding Stagnation and Spiritual Drought

Please understand that the amazing benefits of self-motivation is not limited to Christians, everyone that is alive needs it. It's a common scenario: You go to church Sunday after Sunday, you pray, you have your Bible study time— but this feeling of spiritual progress is missing. The passion, the zeal you used to have may not be as intense as before it is likely to be a blur.

Life can take over, goals and obligations can discourage you, problems can set in and steal your focus and sometimes, even your dreams. When a Christian feels this way, what strategies can he/she put in place to bring back the passion, the zeal to walk with His Maker?

Finding Joy and Purpose

It is one thing to get up in the morning, but it is an even better feeling to get up every day with purpose, a jump for joy, and the drive to succeed. Imagine a life in which religion is not only part of you but the guiding force in all recognized activities.

This, as I have pointed out, is entirely plausible and realistic as long as one is self-motivated and geared towards achieving those goals. Supposing we dwell a little more on the effects of self-motivation as informed by the teachings of the Cross on making life more fulfilling and dynamic?

The Benefits of Self-Motivation as a Christian
1. Becoming a Better Lover of God

The benefits of self-motivation are numerous. While self-drive produces a steady flow of communion with God, it is something that people need to propel themselves. If you’re self-motivated, then you can easily be disciplined to pray, study the Bible and participate in worship. This consistency helps you to:

• Hear God's Voice More Clearly: Reading the Bible and praying daily or occasionally makes it easier spotting the way forward provided by the Lord. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105). Than to compare the respective topics of the first and second historical plays being utilized in the contemporary production as becoming more instinctive.

• Experience His Presence: As an aspect of self-motivation you get to properly manage your time and schedule to ensure that there exists ample time to spend with Him, to be still and know that He is God. “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10).

• Grow Spiritually: Thus the importance of repeatedly practicing spirituality means the other will be enabled to gain more Spiritual knowledge thus the act enable him or her to develop spiritually. “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18).
