ITA, International Agriculture Research Centre with Headquarters at Ibadan seeks to increase agricultural production in a sustainable way, in order to improve the nutritional status and wellbeing of people in tropical Sub-Saharan Africa.

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidates for the following positions at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

POSITION
MEDICAL LABORATORY SERVICES OFFICER (a Management position) (2 year renewable contract)

Successful candidate will manage the IITA Clinical Laboratory to ensure provision of high standard health laboratory services to the physicians, thus ensuring optimum healthcare for the community. As this is a Management position, the incumbent would mostly be expected to be resourceful and able to maintain satisfactory productivity under pressure.

MSc in any of the Medical Laboratory Sciences or Fellowship of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences (FIMLS) with specialization in Clinical Chemistry or Microbiology with a minimum of eight ( years post qualification experience in a relevant setting. Candidates must be registered with the IMLT of Nigeria and must be proficient in all aspects of Laboratory Medicine.

Candidate must:
Be honest, be able to generate accurate biomedical data and interpret same; be computer literate and possess ability to manage laboratory with little or no supervision.


Position
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT OFFICER (a Management position) (2 year renewable contract)

The successful candidate (who will report to the Director, Project Development and Management) will: Work with scientists and Finance Office to ensure prompt receipt of funds and other resours from donors.
Work with Supply Chain and Finance Office in the procurement and disposal of assets.
Monitor and assist with partners financial reporting obligations.
Monitor burn rates of project Cost centres and advise Principal Investigator accordingly.
Assist Technical Writer and Project Administrator by providing specialist resource input into the development of projects
Work with PI & FO to facilitate the timely submission of accurate financial reports that are in line with IITA standards.
Advise Project Administrator when financial and technical reports are finalised and submitted in order to release the subsequent tranche of the agreed budget.
Retrieve information from both hard files and ProMIS to resolve queries.
Such other duties, properly assigned, as may be occasioned by the exigencies of the service.

MSC/MBA Economics/Business Management with strong accounting background.
A minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in a complex and multi-cultural environment is desired

Candidates must:

Be able to read and interpret MoUs/Contract Agreements correctly; have good analytical ability; be articulate in report preparation / presentation; possess strong operating knowledge of MS packages / Oracle financial Applications, excellent inter-personal and strong communication skills.


Position
MECHANIC III (2 year renewable contract)

Candidate will maintain household appliances like gas cookers, electric stoves, water heater etc. and carry out other assignments as may be directed by the Supervisor.

ND/ City & Guild Intermediate or Trade Test in related discipline plus minimum of 2 years relevant working experience.

Candidate must be honest physically fit, have good interpersonal relations and ready to work on weekends when necessary,
Position
DRIVER III (2 year renewable contract)

Candidate will convey students to school and back, drive shuttle vehicle; keep records; clean vehicles and perform other duties as may be assigned.

WASC, Trade test II with valid Professional Drivers' Licence (Class E) with minimum of 8 years corporate driving experience.

He must be honest, physically fit, good interpersonal relations, hardworking and trustworthy.
