HIGH WAISTED STYLE LINES;

they make the upper body appear shorter while broadening and emphasizing waist area.
- It would also make leg line appear longer especially for clients that are not particularly tall ..

-Camouflages the tummy.
please note that for style lines that are between the empire waistline and the navel, do not add tucks, especially for clientss withbbig tummy because it would form a bilge right there and make their tummy appear bigger...

LET'S START WITH A WAISTLESS STYLE LINE;

This basically means that the dress would have no waistline at all....
It has d advantage of making the client appear taller and thinner by hidding the waistline and minimizing a broad figure. ..

Many times as sewing professionals, clients want us to design and make dresses for them or sometimes they ask to see sketches of dresses we have so that they can pick styles from there or sometimes they just come with their fabric and ask us what we think would be best for them2use d fabric for..

If its a client you have worked with for a while, you would somehow already kno their dos and don'ts so it might be slightly easier to figure out a style for them. But for first time clients it might pose a bit of a challenge especially clients who have body frames that are different from those of your regular clients or people you have designed outfits for....

However, knowledge on the various styles lines can make the process of designing or figuring out what to do with the client's fabric to be much easier. ....

A few months ago my sister stumbled on youtube cideos uploaded by shingo sato and we have voth been in awe of his approach to designning patterns which he calls transformational reconstruction..
Basically it involves manipulating darts and adding stylelines to a basic pattern in 3D..
He has a couple of youtube videos you can learn from..
Just type in "T R cutting school" into the google search box or the youtube search box and it shall direct you accordingly. ..
One of his most amazing pieces in my opinion is this dress with 8 invisible zippers sewn in wavy lines...you should check it out, try it out n drop your comments....
Have fun and keep an open mind and learn..
