So this wonderful morning, I finally made it through the mild traffic and got to our tyre shop.

As I walked in and looked around at how the tyres were all lined up, I couldn’t help but think.

With all the political movement happening right now, going from a party to another, everyone trying to position themselves ahead of 2027, i just paused and said to myself:

If Nigerian presidents were tyres… what tyre brands would they be?

Let’s think about it:

The long-lasting but noisy tyre;
This one served long, maybe even tried to hold things together… but the noise? Too loud to ignore. Think of plenty mileage, strong grip, but always making headlines, even after office. 😂

The smooth ride that caught a puncture halfway;
Started off like a dream, gave us hope, but somewhere along the road, it just couldn’t hold air again. It gives calm presence, structured thinking, but the journey ended too soon.

The aggressive tyre with bold patterns but poor grip in the rain; This one looked like it would change everything. Came with tough talk and anti-this, anti-that but once the storms came, it started slipping. Feels like a rugged promise, but rough handling.

The flashy imported tyre everyone hyped, but turns out to be China spec; Looked premium on arrival and sweet marketing. But in reality, not built for our kind of roads. It gives soft ride, but couldn’t withstand Naija potholes (or power struggles).
