70% of all the shipped cargoes that arrive at the Lagos ports, head straight to Onitsha.

That alone is a tell-tale sign of the hugeness of the Onitsha market.
While all the factories, markets, projects and population (purchasing power) in Lagos, Ogun and the rest of the country share the remaining 30% abi? Are you not embarrassed with the quality of this liehuh

Politics › Re: Lagos Stopped Being A Yoruba Land In 1861; How It Became No - Man's - Land by Raf4: 3:44pm On Jul 11, 2024
Sarcastic101:
Lagos which was once known as Eko ceased from being a Yoruba land in 1861.
The name Lagos was given to the land by the Portuguese in the 15th century and it means lakes,or lagoons the name seemed fit for the place because Lagos is surrounded by water.

When the British came to Lagos in the 1800s there was some problems in the land one of which was that the ruler then,Oba Oluwole had died and his vacant throne was battled for by two powerful men, akintoye and kosoko.

Akintoye won this battle and became the Oba of Lagos but after a short time he was overthrowned by Kosoko, akintoye went into exile in badagry where he met British missionaries who were new in the land,he told them his story and pleaded for assistance from them so they called on the British consul,Beecroft to help akintoye with the British military to take back his throne.

Beecroft invaded Lagos with the British navy and subdued the land forcing Oba Kosoko to run away into exile, stating reasons that the Lagos King was still participating in the abolished slave trade.

When they defeated Oba Kosoko, they reinstalled Akintoye as the new Oba and signed a treaty with him to allow them (the British) to be free and protected in the land as they went about their buisness.

Oba Akintoye unlike Oba Kosoko was weak and agreeable to the British and this made them so powerful in Lagos.

In 1853,Oba Akintoye died and the British installed his son Dosunmu as the new Oba.

Oba Dosunmu was as weak as his father Akintoye and wasn't able to completely stop slave trade among the people and so many problems erupted in the land which he couldn't control, the British realized that he was too weak and when they Heard that the french had made contact with the Oba of Lagos they decided to take over Lagos out of fear of the french.

Then, they made Oba Dosunmu to sign a treaty that Britain now owned Lagos and the British crown be recognized as the supreme one in Lagos displacing the Obas crown.

Dosunmu signed the treaty in 1861 and from then onwards Lagos became a colony of Britain and ceased to be Yoruba land but a British land.

Before the British left in 1960, so many Nigerians had migrated to Lagos from other states that Yoruba couldn't even be understood by all lagosians anymore.

There were too many Igbos, Hausa, and calabars living in Lagos and doing buisness freely that the Yorubas lost dominance over Lagos and the issue has worsened for them since then till this day.

A walk in any street of Lagos today lets you know that it's now a multicultural state and not more a Yoruba land anymore.

They've lost so much power and are still losing power over the land that all have realized that they can't regain the land anymore and that is why we call it no man's land today.

Because no tribe owns it anymore.
When you have an inordinate craving for another man's property, it always leads you into bipolar disorder like this

Diligence:
Lagos State is Lagos Colony. At best, it's a product of multi-ethnic...cultural, social & even national society as former Federal Capital Territory.

Trying to relegate such Status to a Yoruba State is mischievous, primitive & counterproductive; it doesn't help its status at all.

Even the North HV not tried to even suggest Abuja as a Northern enclave.

Allow Lagos State to evolve into a systematic global Status with efficient infrastructure & systems like Dubai, etc (HV U ever seen the Arabs (with regard to Dubai) with loud speakers forcing everything & anything Arab down the throats of the world?)! Stop dragging it down & back with Yorubaness; it doesn't help at all. Is there no reason why it's called Lagos and not Ogbomosho State.

Perhaps, we could suggest to dem dem to consider & change the name from Lagos State to ... Stupid & primitive thinkers! The real Lagos Indigenes don't appreciate what these "encroachers & invaders" from neighbouring SW States are doing to Lagos State. They abandoned South West States & are looting Lagos State to death! Recall, how these invaders go declare Oro on an (gubernatorial) election day!

Caution: The above except is for reasonable thinkers & not for stupid folks!
You're drunk!
Lagos has always been a Yoruba sprawling community for centuries, even when your forebears were still living in da 'caves' in your enclave.

This is a very bad idea and dead on arrival. This is just another way to loot people's money.

A lot of people already understand English on basic level and even conversing or speaking. Yoruba is very hard for to read and write for Yoruba pikin. Most market women and agberos do well with English or pseudo English called pigdin.
Whether you understand English, French, German and Swahilli is inconsequential, Yoruba language is a must in Lagos. Using billions to preserve our Yoruba language and culture is not our problem.
Remember if your children must school in Lagos, Yoruba language is compulsory for them.

Some people don't even know the meaning of livestock. All they is cow 🐄 .
Livestock involves cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, chicken, fish etc rearing and the integrated value chain.
If this is properly managed, with adoption of modernity and tech, it will resolve the persistent herders-farmers clashes.

Awolowo might be less corrupt than tinubu but he is no different

Awolowo is a believer of feel good projects
The useless cocoahouse is prime example
A project to brag about but has zero economic benefits

Cocoa house till take has generated enough money to break even

Buying hillux as a police car makes little sense to me especially now we are broke as a nation

Toyota Sienna is cheaper.. One hillux can get u 3 to 4 2014 Toyota Sienna

So that's 150 to 200 operational cars for police

We really need to make good use of our money this period
You can as well advise your home state governor to buy tricycles or keke Raleigh for the police and other security bodies as their official /operational vehicles.

Are you still unaware that propaganda has long been a weapon in warfare?
During the civil war, there were numerous accounts of federal troops disguising themselves in Biafran colors to commit heinous crimes against communities loyal to the Biafran struggle, aiming to sow discord and mistrust in those communities. This was a deliberate strategy used in the Biafran war.
Probably you think you're talking to a set fools. Are you trying to rewrite history all in the name of looking for who to forcefully convert to your kinsmen?
