Buying weapons doesn't mean only the equipment it also means stockpile for future defense. For the the weapons system you already have example Missiles defense, artillery shells, etc.

US will not sell the most advanced weapons to them and that's why Russia is far ahead of them. Those nato countries were naive by thinking they matter to US and can continue their freeloading.
