Maybe I am thinking differently, but the state of a civilization is evident in how they treat their animals. Maybe the reason why Nigerian society is full of cruelty on so many levels is because we cannot regard other humans talkless of animals with which we share this world with. We overhunt the wild animals in the forests for eran'gbe that most of us have not seen wildlife with our two korokoro eyes, or we see cute cats and call them witches and kill them. Heck my brother said a monitor lizard was walking jejely across the street at UI and crowds ganged up to kill it, what warranted such behavior?
The main point about animal rights is being in touch with nature from which we derive all our sustenance, and in no way do I disregard human rights but they are both part of the general problem. Nigerians we have lost our touch with nature, that is why it seems our quality of life is hectic.
