Now, the name of this event is "The Event". As funny as it may seem, that's what the name is. Right now you may be wondering, "What is this "Event" about." Well, this is a Music, Dance, Comedy and Live drama Event. It's kind of like an Art Event. All forms of art. So get your Creative minds on because this Review will artify your life and if you didn't attend, God you would wish you did. I'm going to tell you everything that happened at every step of the Way. The show started with The DJ, (DJ Bazz) doing his job really well, taking us to the past and jamming popping Nigerian Oldies, thereby maintaining a stable and lively environment. By the way, I feel this show is very special. Firstly, we saw the name: "The Event", Now instead of it to be a Red Carpet as everyone does, they're calling it the "Black Carpet, with an actual Black carpet. Very creative right? The first event of the day was by Kunbi Black and it was a short movie titled "The Housekeeper" which was shown on the Projector. Involving a creepy house and a creepy man taking guard of the house. It shows a man who was bent on killing all his siblings... Or rather, Step siblings because he wanted all the riches and wealth his father had. Anyways, he killed two of his step-sisters friends and when it was just the step sister remaining, an unexpected twist occurred and she killed him instead. Great plot. Then we moved on to looking at a stage play/drama with a very catchy background tune. Oh and it's more of a mime. It involves a boy trying to impress a girl. When he finally does, as they walk out, he sees a waste bin that reads "Do not open". Apparently the whole short mimmical play is just to welcome us to the event, Titled "The Event". Again, Very Creative! Then we watched a comical play, With a pretty funny plot. About a boy that couldn't laugh. His mother tried everything, from Baba Fakunle (a native Doctor Who gave her outrageous materials to bring), to The greatest Alfa in the town of Mogborogboro. The both of them couldn't do anything about the woman's plight. She went to everyone, nothing happened.... Until she took him to "THE EVENT!" lmao!! Then, he finally laughed. All still talks about how epic this show is! Then a Saxophonist came on stage to do what he does best. He does something different by playing current songs on his saxophone. Some of the songs include, Mad over you (Runtown), If (Davido) and others... Then we saw a short Comedy show on the projector, about a man that did make up like a girl, and guys liked her(Him) but when they tried to touch her (Him) she would lash out and go from like 0-100 in a very comical way. Moving on, we had "Another one" (In DJ Khaled's voice), this one involves a Malta Guinness Hawker that is trying to sing but can't seem to get it right. I think they were trying to Do a short joke session. Cool concept. Then we went into a full joke session with a great Comedian named, "Provison" and Another spectacular Comedian called "G-Jokes" A performance from MAGIC occurred and at this point I thought to myself that there is no way this event, "THE EVENT", can flop again. Everyone was really enjoying it. There was another Comedy skit. Followed closely by a kind Of remix of "Love yourself" by Waheed. Then a dance performance. An electrifying Dance performance!!! With the DJ mixing songs. Then probably the best performance the day from an already blown Star, "CHIGURL". She came on stage to kill us with a rib-cracking joke/music session. So lit! And may I mention that Chigurl has a wonderful voice!! There was another stage play, featuring Unilag students in a protest scene saying that no student from the faculty of art has performed.. So they got what they wanted and even double as an explosive performance from both "Brainee" and "Yung Ace" successfully held. Then we had "Ken Grammar" who came on stage to draw a portrait of Our president in 3 minutes... With the DJ Once again giving us hits as he does it. Then we had a Spoken word performance, a crazy spoken word performance. That made the crowd go mad! Please it was the bomb!!! And Onome Was the Artist. On to the next one, we had a comedy session by "Long John" and also "BIG MICKY". Another session by the You Tube star, instagram star and every social media video streaming network star "Segun Waya", Made his way to the stage giving a breathtaking performance with various artistes. Then we had the most flexible humans in the world "The Uncrushables" perform on stage also blowing our minds. As you can see this show has obviously been the absolute BOMB!! We then had a video clip.. A comedy skit that was shown on the projector. Followed closely by a Music performance Showcasing great choreography from the hot background female dancers. DJ Switch, the female phenomenal rapper sets the stage on fire with her two new music tracks, including one she dedicated to the ladies calling it the "Workout Song". Then All of a sudden, the show that was going smoothly at first, comes to a premature end. Rumours from the show turns out that Woli Arole, a Nigerian comedian set to perform on this event was forcefully stopped at the entrance of the Unilag gate due to the comedy skit he posted recently talking about 300 level law students in Unilag being "Cheap". We don't quite know why he said that or what prompted him to say that but all we know is that Arole probably unintentionally just ended one of the most amazing Shows Unilag could ever produce. Everyone was sent out of the Auditorium and the show came to an unfortunate end. Tonto Dikeh attracted some attacks of her fans on her instagram page when she dishes out marriage and relationship advice supposedly to shade her estranged husband whom she broke up with allegedly for domestic violence and other sundry issues few months ago. The long write up seem not to go well with some of her followers who felt a lot of people looked up to her marriage as a role model. Some of them were of the opinion that the sustenance of marriage was dependant on her largely. Tonto Dikeh fans wondered what was her justification to advice them when she went all out to talk down on her estranged husband publicly and ridiculously. Nollywood actress, Funke Adesiyan speaks out against “social media mourner” celebrities who did not support the efforts to raise funds for Moji Olaiya after her untimely passing. See her post below:- “Life is funny. People are really not worth the trouble. The essence of being part of an association, group et al is so you can be there for one another in matters related to you all. Its really a shame that many artistes came on social media, flooded Moji Olaiya’s house shedding tears and when it boils down to extending a helping hand, many chickened out. Artistes were billed 100k each to bring Moji’s body down. If 50 of us contributes 100k, we have 5million which is about $15k (medical rate) Many didn’t contribute a penny. A Kenyan Lawyer met with the shock of his life after he discovered a “used” condom inside a beer he was about to Drink. For this, He is suing the East African Breweries, makers of Tusker beer to court recently over what he found in the bottle. He accused the company of negligence and recklessness and then claimed that he was subject to an “everlasting shock” as a result of the disturbing experience he had encountered. He said: “There was a party and I had bought five crates of the same brand of beer, several people in attendance were consuming their drinks. After serving them, I picked a bottle, opened it and began drinking. After the first sip, I realised the taste was extremely strange and the following encounter was nauseating because the bottle contained an unwrapped condom.” “I suffered psychological torture, trauma, mental anguish, excessive sweating, severe headache, abdominal pains, abdominal rumbling and vomiting due to shock and anxiety after taking the beverage containing condom.” I now claim damages and special damages for the injury, despite the demand and notice of intention to sue having been given, EABL ignored.” READ MORE AND SEE PICTURES: http://spicenaijablog.com/wtf-see-man-finds-used-condom-beer-bottle-sues-brewery-company/ |

Dremo Dear Dremo, I know you probably hear this every day, but I’m your biggest fan, I haven’t heard a thing or two from you. Guess the richer, the poorer. Account fat now, you poor on content. Thought you were the truth, was hoping you would change up the game as OBO said you would, guess he told a lie on you. I saw you made the top 10 NotjustOk, MTV Base and other lists. Top 10 list my ass I can relate to what you’re saying in your songs. So when I have a shitty day, I drift away anticipating the making of the best Afro-Trap MC. But It’s kind of bleeped up you’re letting the fame get to your head. What is stopping you from dropping a single? Heard your freestyle on ‘Dat way’ and ‘Bigger meat’. We want the real deal. It’s pretty bleeped up man. You are like the guy who could save another talented guy from the streets. But didn’t. Indulging the complacency mindset, knowing that you’re good but being lazy. It’s crazy how creative you are. What happened to the fire burning on your inside just after the signing of your contract with songs like ‘back to back’, ‘ole’. ‘ojere’ and even ‘Normal level’? What happened to your creative posts on Snapchat? What happened to the songs we hear on snap chat? What happened to Yakiru, Mr Talented? What happened to the YAK merchandise? What happened to Dremo? You have had more than enough time to settle into the industry given the scarce opportunity to be under a huge platform. I hope you can’t sleep and you dream about where and how it all started. Only advise is, drop a hit song and that just might be your great come back. Anyways, I hope you get this, hit me back, just a chat. Your Biggest Fan! source: http://spicenaijablog.com/?p=4069

My dear Compatriots, https://spicenaijablog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/th-1-300x161.jpg I am happy to welcome you to the beginning of a New Year in our beloved country Nigeria. I felicitate with you today at a time when our nation is witnessing a new and impressive turnaround in our security and socio-economic situation. I know you will join me to, once again, congratulate the heroic and gallant efforts of our military and other security agencies on their remarkable successes to rid the nation of terrorism. Following the successful capture of Sambisa Forest, spearheaded by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, we have entered a new phase in our battle against our common enemy, Boko Haram. When we see our beloved 21 Chibok girls reuniting with their families and community for Christmas, it gives us the hope that those who are still in captivity will one day return to the loving arms of family, friends and well-wishers. Following the successful capture of Sambisa Forest, spearheaded by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, we have entered a new phase in our battle against our common enemy, Boko Haram I urge all Nigerians to be on the alert and watch out for strange figures settling in their communities, and report to the nearest security agencies, as our armed forces intensify the pursuit of fleeing terrorists from the captured Sambisa Forest. Misguided elements who decided to take up arms against constituted authorities must be brought to face the full weight of the law. The support of all Nigerians to security agencies to enable them successfully execute their mandate is crucial in our bid to effectively secure our country. Seeing the joyful return of thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to Damasak town in Borno State, following the reopening of Maiduguri/Gubio/Damasak road in Northern Borno on December 25, 2016, reassured us that the voluntary return of IDPs in other parts of the country is imminent. The Federal Government will spare no effort in seeing to the resettlement and rehabilitation of the unfortunate victims of terrorism and insurgency. I urge state governments, privileged Nigerians, donor agencies and countries to redouble their contributions towards this goal. Government is aware of some mistakes and wrongdoings in handling the affairs of IDPs. We are taking measures to correct those mistakes and punish the culprits. In this New Year, I want to reassure all Nigerians that our defence and security forces are more than ever before ready to perform their constitutional role of protecting lives and property in the country; and we will surely overcome all other forms of security challenges. The lingering security issues in several states will be frontally addressed. These ugly crises cannot be allowed to fester as they strain the unifying bonds of brotherhood and neighbourliness. Some sections of the press and some politicians should avoid provocative and inflammatory statements, while the government is painstakingly trying to find solutions to our challenges. I want to remind you on the first day of this New Year of an African proverb that says “it is easy to break a broomstick but not a bunch”. Nigeria is a bunch and is more than equal to troublemakers. I have interacted with a broad spectrum of Nigerians, the old and the young, and they have told me unequivocally that they believe in the unity and stability of Nigeria. The year 2017 provides an opportunity for us to build on those aspects of our national life that unite us. We are courageous, hardworking, hospitable, steadfast and resilient people, even in the face of difficulties. These are the attributes that define us and have for years confounded the pessimists who do not believe in our continued existence as a united and indivisible nation. We are a remarkable nation that has succeeded in harnessing our multiple diversities for national development. We must continue to support and tolerate one another and live together as one. We will continue to pursue peace initiatives in the Niger Delta as I again, call on our brothers in that region who have taken to violent disruptions of economic infrastructure to come to the negotiating table. As for our brothers and sisters of the Shia Community, we urge them, too, to embrace peace. They must accept the laws of the country they live in. They cannot be islands by themselves. At the same time, the law enforcement agencies must treat them humanely and according to the rule of law. On our part, in the past 20 months since our inauguration on May 29, 2015, we have focused our energies to turn around the economy, create jobs, fight corruption, and transform agriculture to replace oil and gas as a major revenue earner for the nation. I am encouraged that we are getting things right. The agricultural revolution has begun. Farmers in different parts of the country are experiencing bumper harvests; states are getting into strategic partnership towards attaining self-sufficiency in rice, and the era of over-dependence on oil for foreign exchange revenues is gradually waning. I am optimistic that the CHANGE we all yearned for in voting this administration to power in 2015 will manifest more and be sustained in different sectors, particularly agriculture, in 2017. As you may be aware, our economic recovery and growth plan in 2017 is anchored on optimising the use of local content and empowering local businesses. In pursuit of this administration’s philosophy, we will continue to appeal that we buy “Made In Nigeria” goods. Like I said during the 2017 Budget presentation to the National Assembly, farmers, small and medium-sized manufacturers, agro-allied businesses, dressmakers, entertainers and technology start-ups, will remain the true drivers of our economic future. They are the engine of our economic recovery and their needs underpin our Economic Recovery and Growth Plan. On job creation, this administration will sustain existing programmes aimed at lifting a vast number of our youth out of poverty, while at the same time creating the opportunities for people to fend for themselves. Our determination to wrestle corruption to the ground remains unshaken. This fight, which will be guided by respect for the rule of law and due process, will not spare anybody or organ of government. It is a collective undertaking and resolve that must be seen to its logical conclusion in spite of certain distractions. The fate of our country lies partly in the success of this campaign. It will be unthinkable on my part to allow the boat of this crucial campaign promise capsize mid-stream. I thank you for the public support for our administration’s efforts to transform Nigeria. I assure you again that the current pains are temporary and will ease when the economic seeds in gestation begin to bloom to fruition. I urge you to continue to support this administration in its effort to transform Nigeria for the good of all. I wish you a Happy New Year, 2017. Harrison Ford said she was ”one-of-a-kind” who lived her life “bravely”, adding: “My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her mother Debbie, her brother Todd and her many friends. We will all miss her.” The creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, said: “Carrie and I have been friends most of our adult lives. She was extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colourful personality that everyone loved. “In Star Wars she was our great and powerful princess – feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think. My heart and prayers are with Billie, Debbie and all Carrie’s family, friends and fans. She will be missed by all. George Lucas.” English actress Daisy Ridley, who played Rey in The Force Awakens, says she was “devastated at this monumental loss”. And director of the same film, J J Abrams, posted a handwritten note to Twitter which read: “You didn’t need to meet Carrie Fisher to understand her power. She was just as brilliant and beautiful, tough and wonderful, incisive and funny as you could imagine. What an unfair thing to lose her. How lucky to have been blessed with her at all.” SOURCE; http://spicenaijablog.com/?p=3755 |
2016 was an eventful year filled with a lot of dramas and controversies as our artistes couldn’t but let out their anger and frustration which led to a lot of fights between artistes, record labels, managers and even blogs. The year started on a high note of dramas and it continued to the end of the year. This year is going to go down in history as one with the most dramas and controversies in the music and entertainment industry. There was never a dull moment this year as almost every month there is one fight, scuffle or beef that engulfed the industry. Below is our Top 10 Controversies of 2016 that rock the music industry. 1 Olamide Vs Don Jazzy Headies Scuffle As we ushered in the New Year, 2016, a very big drama unfolded at the Headies Awards which held on the 1st of January to the early hours of next day. Two of Nigerian music heavyweights, Olamide and Don Jazzy threw shades at each other after the much converted price “Next Rated Award” was given to Reekado Banks of Mavin Records. This didn’t go down well with Olamide who took to the stage to blast the organizers of the awards and also the entire Mavin crew. In return Don Jazzy also mounted the stage and ridiculed Olamide by rhetorically asking him if it’s the car he wants, he can come and have it. The beef between the two music bigwigs came to an end with the influence of top personalities that mediated and pacified them. One of them is Nigeria’s and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote. 2 Tiwa Savage & Tee Billz Marriage Scandal One of the biggest scandals/ controversies of 2016 is the separation between the biggest celebrity couple Tiwa Savage and Teebillz. Earlier this year Teebillz took to instagram to complain about his “thought-to-be perfect” marriage and his wife cheating on him with other celebrities (Dr Sid, Don Jazzy and 2face). The music promoter was later reported missing by his family and friends before he was found later that same day attempting suicide on the Lekki-ikoyi Bridge, and was rescued by Banky W, one of the P-square brothers and some well-meaning Nigerians. Tiwa Savage later revealed the reason behind her failed marriage in an interview with Pulse tv. With tears in her eyes she complained about Teebillz being an irresponsible husband and father. In the interview she spoke about her husband and his cocaine addiction, his affair with another woman known as Edible Catering, his reckless spending; popping bottles in the club in her name( without paying), neglecting her when she had a miscarriage in Jamaica amidst others. Teebillz has since then been out of rehabilitation and back on instagram, there are rumours that the couple are working on their marriage and are currently seeing a counsellor. 3 P-square Breakup The Okoye brothers of P-Square shocked their fans when they broke up and went solo. The two brothers disagreed about their elder brother Jude Okoye, handling of their music business affairs and it led to fallout of the group. They both went their separate ways with both establishing individual record labels. Paul signed two artistes to his label while Peter is yet to sign any artiste yet to his label. They eventually settled their differences and got back together to making good music like they are known for. To convince their fans of their reconciliation and that P-Square is truly back, they released a brand new track titled “Bank Alert” under the name P-Square and also bought a multimillion mansion in Banana Island for them and their family. 4 Wizkid Vs Linda Ikeji The drama between Wizkid and controversial blogger Linda Ikeji started when Linda released a post saying that Wizkid had been given an eviction notice by the landlord, from the house Wizkid claimed to have bought years ago, his Porsche car was bought on hire purchase and he lied about his age. The singer then took to instagram to blast linda, calling her all sorts of names, and making derogatory statements about her. To cut the long story short, they both ended their social media fight in the office of the Commissioner of Police after Linda Ikeji reported the matter to the police. 5 Davido vs The Momodu’s Early this year Davido and his Babymama had a social media fight which later turned messy when ace publisher Dele Momodu got involved to protect the image of his niece, Sophia Momodu. The fight got serious when Davido accused his Babymama of taking hard drugs which is harming his daughter. He took his daughter away from her and refused her from seeing her daughter. Davido revealed a doctor’s report on social media accusing Sophia of harming their baby through breastfeeding because of the hard drugs she has been taking. Sophia refuted this claim with her uncle in support of her. In other to treat his daughter of her illness he planned to fly her out with his family to Dubai but he was stopped at the airport from leaving the country by immigration officers on the direction of Dele Momodu. This action led to exchange of words on social media with both families attacking each other. Davido on the other hand used the opportunity to make music out of it. (‘’No be by force to go Dubai… “Mr Dele Na my boy, Dele Na my boy’’ You know the rest guyz… The fight was later settled and Davido was allowed to travel out with his daughter to Dubai for treatment. 6 Wizkid Vs DammyKrane Once again Wizkid makes it to our list and this time it’s a fight with another fellow artiste, DammyKrane. DammyKrane had earlier posted on Twitter accusing Wizkid of stealing something from him, which he later revealed on instagram two days later that Wizkid stole his content without due permission. Wizkid never responded to his allegation on social media but when they both met in a party at club Quilox hosted by Nigerian football star, Obafemi Martins. Wizkid walked up to DammyKrane and threw a glass cup at his face which injure him on his lips and led to the bleeding. The fight was settled by the club owner, ShinaPeller in his office and they both reconciled and later went back to the club like nothing had happened. That was the last we heard of the beef as the two parties have moved on. [ 7 Skales & Manager, Osagie Feud with Baseline Records Nigerians woke up to the news on the first of June, 2016 that singer, Skales and manager, Teresa Osagioduwa Osarenkhoe popularly known as Osagie were detained by the Nigerian police in Onikan Zone II Police station. The two were arrested of an allegation levelled against them by their record label, Baseline Records. Skales’ manager Osagie was accused of diverting proceeds worth over 13million naira from Skales music dealings to her personal account that was meant to go to the record label’s account. They were detained for over 36 hours before the police would let them go by making her to write an undertaking that she would no longer represent Skales and Aramide and that she would refund all the money she was accused of. After coming out of detention she released a press release to clear all misconception levelled against her, saying she did not steal a dime but instead said “what we have done is to keep our work and lives going on, following inaction from them.” She is no more managing Skales and Aramide who are both under Baseline Records. Skales on the other hand has been given a new management company by his record label. 8 Davido And Kaffy Fight Popular Nigerian dancer, Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, better known by her stage name, Kaffy, called out music star, Davido, describing him as arrogant. This happened on the 26th of October, 2016 in an instagram video where she also wrote a piece of her mind to Davido and other artistes that disrespect dancers. In the video she called Davido a Motherfu*ker and said what he did was very disrespectful to every dancer in the country. According to her she said Daido hired some dancers for a show and after all their rehearsals for week he had to cancel their performance with him right before he climbed the stage. Kaffy said it was unethical and unprofessional for the artiste to just take that sort of decision before show time. Davido later responded to Kaffy’s rant in a short interview and said he has no problem with Kaffy that he was shocked when he saw the video. 9 Runtown And Eric Manny Records Legal Dispute Runtown a recording artiste signed to Eric Manny Entertainment has had a very bad run with his label which led to a messy legal battle between the two parties. Eric Manny Entertainment filed a court injunction against Runtown seeking to stop Runtown from performing or recording and other musical activities in the country pending the determination of the suit. Eric Manny Records accuses Runtown and his manager, Bugwu Anetowho also doubles as the General Manager of the record label for side-lining the label from money collected for shows. Runtown also filed a court injunction against his label for threat of life andbreach of contract, claiming that the label has been cheating him of his money collected from shows, callertune, MTN Musicplus and other mobile digital sales. He also tried terminating his contract with the label. They fight even got more intense when Eric Manny Entertainment got a USA court injunction barring Runtown from performing or conducting any music activities in the United State until he sorts his suite with his label in Nigeria. Runtown was organising a US Tour tagged “Ghetto University USA Tour”. To cut the long stories short the two parties were able to settle their difference out of court with a new agreement reached which entails that Runtown would remain with the Eric Manny Entertainment for one more year but this time it’s more of a partnership deal, giving Runtown more control unlike before. They also sacked his manager and hired Isaac Egere to manage the entire affairs of the artiste and the label. 10 2face Idibia and Blackface Beef The beef between the two former members of the defunct music group, PlantashunBoiz dates back far back when 2face released his multi-award winning song “African Queen” that Blackface has been attacking him of song theft. Earlier this year Blackface came for Wizkid accusing him of stealing his lines in his mega hit song “Ojuelegba”. In an interview with Punch he said “If you check properly, you would realise that Wizkid’s hit, Ojuelegba, sounds exactly the same as the track 13 on my dancehall album released as far back as of stealing his lines for his mega hit song “Ojuelegba”. After lashing out at Wizkid the singer posted series of tweets accusing 2face of stealing his song for his song with Bridget Kelly titled “Let Somebody Love You”. He threatened to sue 2face and his manager EfeOmorogbe for not acknowledging him in the song. In one of the tweet he said “y not ask dat u wana record my song?I was out in d wilderness n u never called becos u wish me dead so my properties be urs? @official2baba”. 2face later responded to Blackface accusations in an interview and stated that he had nothing but love and respect for Blackface. “We will trash the whole matter but I got nothing but love and respect for him and it is just so unfortunate that he is coming at me like that” he said. The two were later seen dancing and singing together at a party hosted by former militant, High chief Ateke Tom in Rivers State. It is alleged that Ateke was the one who brokered peace between the two artistes.
