Skit maker Oga Sabinus has allegedly sued Peak Milk for using his trademark phrase “Something hooge.”

In a pre-suit notice dated May 27 2022, and signed by his lead counsel Mr Stanley Alieke, the content creator demanded a payment of N500m for the alleged unauthorised use of his intellectual property and another 500m for damages for the “emotional, physical, psychological and mental trauma our client has suffered for the trademark theft and the infringement of his intellectual rights property”.



In the notice, the comedian pointed out that a company belonging to Peak Milk, Friesland Food Wamco Nigerian PLC, used his trademarked slogan “Something Hooge” to advertise and promote their product, Peak Milk.

He noted that the advert made on Peak Milk Nigeria’s verified Instagram @peak_milk on May 24 2020, used his slogan, which had been trademarked on November 26 2021, with the FILE NUMBER: NG/TM/O/2021/48316.



“Our client briefed us and we believe the same to be true that your Company, Friesland Foods Wamco Nigeria Plc, used a trademarked slogan ‘Something Hooge’ for the promotion of your Peak Milk product,” the legal notice read.

It continued, “The advert which was made on the Peak Milk Nigeria verified Instagram page (peak_milk) was posted on May 24 2022 which was used to promote the Peak National Breakfast Week.”

“It will interest you to know that the phrase ‘something hooge’, which was popularised by our client, has been trademarked and legally reserved as his intellectual property by the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment.”

“The post gathered massive traffic, and engagements and attracted huge followership to your page which only happened because the picture of our client was used for the promotion and advert.”

The content creator also threatened legal action against UAC Food Ltd, the company that produces gala sausage, for using his likeness and other intellectual products to advertise their product.

Sabinus revealed that UAC Food @galasausage_roll on Instagram posted on May 23 2022 with his “picture”. He further noted that the post, which was his cartoon likeness, was captioned, “the way I calculate everything in my life”.



The notice to UAC Foods read dated May 25 read, “Your company UAC Food Ltd. has been using the brand picture and other intellectual properties of Sabinus to make adverts for your Gala sausage roll without the consent or authorisation of our clients.”

He gave both companies 14 working days to meet his demands or meet him in court.

In the last few weeks, Sabinus has remained in the limelight after winning the 2022 AMVCA for “Best Online Social Content Creator”.

Funmilayo Adebayo, the popular Nigerian internet sensation alleged as an evangelist, has partly taken social media spaces to influence the minds of some young growing Nigerian teens, mostly from average backgrounds and the non-elites. Well, a good number of Nigerians would take her as a joke and to some extent she is, but what about the younger generations, the ones who barely know their left from right?



Mummy G.O as she’s fondly called by her growing fans, with her teachings which could be referred to as caricature or whims to most Nigerians, however, there is a bunch out there who could let that darkness sip into their lives, not because of anything else but because they don’t have the light enough.

I could remember naturally being served a good amount of such wrongfully orchestrated information while growing up in society. As an average Nigerian, in schools, I had access to a lot of the wrong set of information and all that. The painful truth is that I don’t understand how I got this informations and how it sank on in my inside, I grew with a bunch of these ideas, however, if I carefully trace back to how I got hold of this informations as a saying goes that, “rumours are spread by fools and on..”

The fact is that people like Mummy G.O also existed while I was growing up as a teenager. They ploughed their role as to influence and blind a fold to this set of wrongfully orchestrated knowledge that our generations could live with and get influenced by. I could remember being told that Beyonce and Micheal Jackson are hellfire candidates, I was even cultured through sets of wrong information to hate Secular music, whereas there is a lot of good we can capture from all these and more.



The truth is that these things didn’t start now, I remember vividly when I was younger I experienced more of such kind of information spread like wildfire while I was in Primary and Secondary school, it also affected my decision at the time. I was told Breakdance is from hell and that it was the devil’s dance, that’s ridiculous, and most teenagers were influenced by those thoughts. Indeed. I grew and have spent more time to understand how this world operates and have gained clearer knowledge about these things and also how such amazing creators can positively influence us and guide us through making greater careers for ourselves and generations.

Today, the alleged evangelist Funimlayo Adebayo fondly referred to as Mummy G.O stands very comfortably on a podium in some chaotic church pulpit to preach this wrongful gospel to the bunch and tell me, how would this sit well with the young and growing ones who might not get the opportunity to change this mentality? She alleged that “Master card users are on their way to hell”, we laugh out loud with it and call it some joke, how would those lads perceive all this wrong information?

Think deep. We even help her spread this false gospel and forget that it’d have a side effect on our own, think again, about those who don’t know they’re left from their right yet. Those growing up, how would they sit with this information and perceive society, generally?

Although one can’t compare the internet users rate as at then to now, it is over two decades, when I started hearing information that popular celebrities dine with the devil even as some people have seen God as he unveiled to them secrets which they claimed to tell us and more of such rumours which could be likened to what Mummy G.O is taking after currently, can’t you see this is a conspiracy from wherever coming to attack the minds of the younger ones negatively, it is more about the non-elites now, don’t you see that Nigeria is crashing down on us? Wake up!

The long-awaited APC national congress, which will elect the party’s presidential candidate, is right around the corner, and the intrigues and high-wired politics are about to surface once more. Who among the heavyweights who have expressed interest in the campaign will ultimately choose the APC presidential ticket?

Due to President Muhammadu Buhari’s unwillingness to sign the Electoral Act 2022 Amendment Bill, only 2,340 ad-hoc delegates will attend the ruling All Progressives Congress’s (APC) upcoming convention to nominate the party’s presidential candidate for next year’s election.

Based on the political maneuverings and presidential body language, it appears that just two candidates are in the running for the presidency. Former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu stand out as show favorites.

Presidency.

For obvious reasons, Goodluck Jonathan is holding his cards close to his chests. As the former President under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it would be suicidal for GEJ to enter the contest without the President’s explicit assent.

If we must go by the politics at hand, it appears that prominent sources close to President Buhari are vehemently pushing for Goodluck Jonathan’s candidacy to emerge. The idea calls for the previous President to be screened in secret while a high-powered conference of party presidential hopefuls is summoned to canvass the former President’s consensus candidacy.

How it all started.

A while ago some influential northern APC leaders adopted the concept that the president should be retained in the North by any means necessary, they started campaigns and declared they would get their way. They ultimately met with President Buhari to deliver their message after a series of stakeholder meetings.

The Northern Oligarchies’ meeting did not go as anticipated when Buhari informed them of his choice for a Southern candidate, as stipulated in the gentleman agreement signed in 2015. Buhari said they should go back and work for a Sourthern presidency.



The cabal returned to work in response to the president’s demand that power be returned to the South. After some scouting, Goodluck Jonathan became a desirable choice for their narrative.

According to additional sources, President Buhari even informed them of his choice of Adams Oshiomhole to succeed him, but how this panned out is a story for another day.

As things stand, the president has yet to engage in a consensus discourse, assuming that he has one up his sleeve. Time is of the essence, especially when it comes at a critical moment delegates are GOLD MINES. It is imperative a consensus arrangement takes place before the delegates are settled for their consultation fees.

It would be unethical on the president’s part to have a consensus arrangement after the delegates meeting with aspirants.

Party Primaries.

Tinubu is expected to score ahead of every aspirant in at least 16 APC controlled states, if not more, if a primary is held without agreement on a consensus plan. If all aspirants get to the field, the permutations aren’t in question.

In the next 24 hrs things would be clearer as for the now let us grab our Ice Creams and Pop Corns and see what plays out.

The Osinbajo Consolidation Organization (OCO) has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to give Vice President Yemi Osinbajo its presidential ticket to continue the development strides of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement yesterday, the chairman of the group, Oyenihan Akanbi Oyebamidele, said Osinbajo’s presidency would continue all the projects and programmes established or initiated by the present administration.

The APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, confirmed the withdrawal of some presidential aspirants from the race.

He added that 28 aspirants are vying for the party’s presidential ticket at this month’s primary slated for Abuja.



Although the APC National Secretary was silent on the identities of the aspirants that had withdrawn from the race, the major protagonists – Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the party’s National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, are expected to scale the hurdle posed by the screening committee and lead others In the battle for the party’s ticket for the 2023 election.

The statement read: “The screening for the presidential aspirants, we have so far 28 presidential aspirants.

“As you are all aware, some aspirants have started withdrawing their aspirations. By God’s grace, on 23rd of this month, those who are left will be screened properly.”

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the gruesome murder of a Christian student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, Deborah Samuel by religious zealots.

Samuel was lynched and set ablaze by her Muslim colleagues for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.

The angry mob stormed her hostel, dragged the deceased out before beating her to death and setting her body ablaze.

CAN’s General Secretary, Joseph Daramola, in a statement, said the unlawful and dastardly action of the perpetrators must not only be condemned by all right- thinking people.

He said security operatives must fish them out, prosecute them as it is expected of them.

CAN said it is the failure of the security agencies and the government to rise up to such criminalities in the past that gave birth to terrorists and bandits.

CAN hailed the swift reaction of the Sultan of Sokoto, MuhammDu Sa’ad Abubakar 111, who not only condemned the criminal and religious intolerant action but called on the security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

CAN urged Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal to ensure the matter is not swept under the carpet like previous incident.

CAN said: “We also call on all teachers and preachers of religious intolerance, extremism and terrorism to repent before the wrath of God descends on them if the State failed to bring them to book. They are agents of death amidst us.

“We recall the provocative and demeaning advertisement of the Sterling Bank where the bank compared the Resurrection of Jesus Christ to “Agege bread”, up till now, nobody was attacked and even the CAN leadership has accepted the apology tendered by its Chief Executive, Abubakar Suleiman. Killing for any God in the name of blasphemy is ungodly, satanic, foolish, reprehensible and totally unacceptable. This is not a Stone Age and Nigeria is not a Banana Republic. Nigeria remains a non-religious State where no religion is supreme to the other.

“We acknowledge and commend the restraint of the Christian students of the College who refused to embrace self-help and reprisal attacks on those who murdered their colleague. It is our prayers that those vampires in religious garments will not push the country to a religious war.

“This is why both the government and the security agencies must stop treating them with kid gloves. Enough is enough”.

An alleged fraudster, Titus Joshua who claimed to be Chief Security Officer to President Muhammadu Buhari was on Thursday arraigned by the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, before Justice S.M.Shuaibu of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City.

A statement by the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said the suspect was arraigned on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence.

The statement added that the suspect is alleged to have defrauded his victims of over N200 million under the pretence of helping them secure top management positions at the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

One of the counts read: “that you, Titus Joshua sometime between 10th August, 2018 and 30th September, 2021 at Orhionmwon Local Government, Benin City within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did fraudulently obtain the total sum of(N12,216,000) Twelve Million Two Hundred and Sixteen Thousand Naira only from one Engineer James Igbinosun which you claimed was money to facilitate the application of the said Engineer James Igbinosun into the position of Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC which you instructed the said Engineer James Igbinosun to pay into various accounts, the pretence you knew is false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act”.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Mohammed, prayed the Court to fix a date for trial and remand the defendant.

Justice Shuauibu adjourned the matter till May 30, 2022 for hearing on the bail application and ordered the defendant remanded at the Correctional Service.
