Yeah, you read that right. The family considered to be the smartest in the whole of England is from Nigeria and that should make you pause for a while and smile. Shouldn’t it? Imafidon’s five children have done the family proud and we will now talk about their achievements. Paula and Peter Imafidon Paula and Peter Imafidon are twins and they are perhaps the most popular members of the Imafidon family. The reason is because of their incredible smartness and the record-breaking streaks they have had in England. In fact, these two kids are considered to be the highest young achievers in Great Britain. At one point, they were even given the nickname “The Wonder Twins”. Nairaland forum took its chance in 2005 when Oluwaseun Temitope Osewa (Seun Osewa) took to internet business. Since its launch in 2005, Nairaland has become one of the most accepted internet forums in Nigeria and the largest in Africa. It is without a doubt that many find its services very appealing as it ranges from fashion to lifestyle, and news amongst others. As the forum continues to grow, many wonder who founded it and how the platform works. Seun Osewa is one of the very few Nigerians, who have successfully made millions of dollars at an early stage. He didn’t allow his love for internet and entrepreneurship die, but nurture these dreams to become a reality even beyond his own imagination. Here are some of the things you need to know about the webmaster, site owner, and entrepreneur. BIOGRAPHY AND PROFILE OF SEUN OSEWA Born on the 17th of July, 1982 in Sango Ota of Ogun State in Nigeria, Seun Osewa didn’t allow where he hails from to define who he wanted to be. At the time of his birth, what would come to be Africa’s biggest online forum of another generation was birthed as well. Business became one of his likes ever since he discovered the internet and some ways to use it. Internet and technology have always been part of what Seun was attracted to and wanted to build. Like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, Seun dropped out of school (the prestigious University of Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) to pursue his dream of programming. Lucky enough for Mr. Osewa, his dream, hard work and the huge decision of dropping out of school has been able to yield him a big name, a big brand and a fat account. CAREER Following his dropping out of the university where he was studying electrical engineering, Seun started his journey of web hosting in 2003 but ruefully like many businesses, it didn’t live to see the light of half a year as it lasted only three months. The business did not only crumble be he ran out of capital to manage other hosting requests. Upon the death of his first online business of hosting, Seun didn’t let the light of his candle go off. He believed in his dream and continued to pursue it. Many advised him to get a certificate and start a normal job as many, but he knew exactly what he wanted and was bent on getting it. Like many successful entrepreneurs, he started making research about business ideas. The business ideas didn’t stop in his mind but he allowed his mouth to table them to family and friends. Since a dream alive can be made a reality, Seun kept his dream of becoming a webmaster. Fortunately, a family friend paid a $15 per month VPS for him to start an online forum which will one day turn the young dreamer into a multi-million dollar rich. In November 2003, he created 3 forums which covered different areas of the higher institution (mainly for students); IT discussions and another to cover the area of the fast-rising GSM industry (the Mobile Nigeria Forum at MobileNigeria.com). With the contributions and assistance of Mr. John Sagai Adam and Mr. Yomi Adegboye and the hard work of young Seun, the mobile forum became a success and was launched to Nairaland in 2005. In about the span of a month, the site could boast of 300 members but Mr. Osewa wanted more. Read more here: https://wiredbugs.com/seun-osewa-everything-nairaland-founder/

Efritin, an online classifieds marketplace, owned by Salside Technologies, penetrated the Nigerian market in 2015 and debuted with a bang! The word ‘bang’ has been carefully chosen here. This is because Efritin meant businesses when it began operations in Nigeria and was determined to make things work. Massive Work Begins Efritin began very serious campaign to overtake giant e-commerce sites like Jumia and Konga immediately it launched in Nigeria. The company began mass hiring of persons and flashed its many advertorial contents across newspapers and TV screens right in the faces of Nigerians. The company made sure it took advantage of some factors such as Nigeria’s large population, the country’s promising, emerging economy as well as its rapidly increasing internet usage to solidify it’s place in the country’s e-commerce market. Knowing how some Nigerians can easily fall for persuasions, the company put itself up for everyone to see via their commercials and adverts. The company released several videos on YouTube announcing it’s presence. In a bid to grab even more attention, its promoters made many hilarious videos that told of how to use the platform. This worked, apparently. Efritin was on virtually every lip around Nigeria. In no time the staff strength had risen to 100 and then 200. Massive Progress Efritin debuted at a time when consumerism was really becoming increasingly pronounced in the Nigeria. Since there was serious need for more people trying to exchange goods and services to connect with each other, the business took off with serious intensity especially because of the fiery promotions it carried out on different platforms. The plan worked well. Just 3 weeks after launching in Nigeria, the company announced that it had hit as many as 128,000 listings. That was incredible. However at the time, skeptical Nigerians didn’t know if they should believe the announcement or just consider it an unnecessary hype by the company. That notwithstanding, Nigerians thronged Efritin. This was mainly because of the image of trust and believably the company tried to put before the people. For instance, Efritin made its many users believe they cannot be scammed on the site. The company took verification of ads very seriously. According to Zakari Hersi, the Head of Efritin.com in Nigeria, the company does “the verification of the ads in 48 hours before it goes live”. Every ad posted is strongly verified by a technical team working at the back-end. In fact, a team is sure to call first time sellers within those 48 hours to verify certain information before they can be allowed to function. This went a long way in scaring away scammers posing as real customers to cheat people out of their money. However, it should be noted that major classified sites in Nigeria also went through the same process of moderating their listings before they went live. What made Efritin a little different was the intense rigour it applied to the process. Efritin also went on to arguably become the first Nigerian free classified ad platform to offer delivery service, sparking a renewed interest on the platform. Despite all these, the company could not hold out for too long. Efritin Bows Out Only 16 months after it stormed Nigeria, stunning the citizens and ‘laying claim to everything,’ Efritin packed out of the country leaving many employees behind. Business transactions have become increasingly dominant on the internet these days. It is no wonder then at all, that online payments systems have become very popular in the past few years. There are many such systems right now, but one of the most popular of them all is PayPal. PayPal PayPal Holdings, Inc. is an American company which effectively operates a worldwide online payments system. The company’s payment system is known to be one of the most trusted supporters of global online money transfers. It also serves as an electronic alternative to the age-long, traditional paper methods such as money orders and cheques. PayPal is widely renowned for operating as a payment processor for many people and companies including auction sites, online vendors, and other commercial users. The service, of course, is not free to use – the company charges a fee in exchange for the benefits users enjoy. PayPal was founded in 1998 as Confinity. After having their initial public offering in 2002, the company finally became a subsidiary which was wholly owned by eBay. This happened later that same year. Many years later in 2014, eBay revealed that it had begun plans to spin-off PayPal into an independent company. This grand plan of eBay was finally completed the next year, on July 18, 2015. PayPal has since grown to become one of the world’s most used online payment system and it services many countries around the planet. The service is even multilingual and many countries can both receive and make payments through it. PayPal Nigeria Even though PayPal had become very famous around the world as a payment system, the company refused to extend their services to Nigeria for a long time. This was quite frustrating because many Nigerians were doing businesses online and needed to use an online payment system as safe and reliable as PayPal. This restriction on Nigeria by PayPal was partly because of the country’s bad reputation of harbouring many scammers. Over the years, dubious Nigerians have succeeded in scamming foreigners of thousand of dollars. PayPal was only threading carefully on delicate ground. However, when the cry became really loud, PayPal finally allowed Nigerians to own and use their accounts in Nigeria. The announcement was made in 2014. This was good news to all who received it. Nigerians were ecstatic. They could now safely make transactions online without being scared of losing money. How To Open PayPal Accounts In Nigeria You can now open an account. Below are steps on how to do it. Read more here: https://wiredbugs.com/paypal-nigeria-how-to-make-transactions/

Over the years, many Nigerians have felt that DStv is charging just too much from them because the company has always enjoyed the advantage of monopoly. This is considering the fact that the company is the only one of its kind in Africa. Enter The Saviour – TStv In the heat of the huge complains about DStv, entered TStv. Just like a saviour, this satellite TV came up with promises to end the monopoly of DStv and help Nigerians fully utilize the more what they pay to watch on TV. If you have not heard of the name TStv, let us let you in on it. TStv is an indigenous Nigerian satellite TV service which was announced in September 2017. The owners of company revealed that they were out to offer Nigerians affordable direct-to-home (DTH) pay-TV services like they have never seen before. Of course, this sparked serious euphoria among the TV-loving Nigerian populace. TStv promised a lot of goodies. The Goodies TStv came with a lot of goodies which sparked euphoric feelings around Nigeria. Below are some of those goodies. – It only costs N5,000 to set up. Nigerians could not believe this! It was unbelievable. Unlike DStv which gulps between 19,900 to N44,900, just to set up, TStv was only asking for only N5,000. As expected, people could not wait to purchase theirs. – It Is On A “Pay As You Watch” Basis This was what really excited Nigerians. TStv was offering them a chance to only pay for what they watch and how long they watch them. With TStv you don’t have to pay for a whole month but for how long you watch. Unlike DStv that made them pay for an entire month whether or not they watched what they have paid for, TStv was offering Nigerians the chance to pay as they watched for as low as as ₦200 per day. TStv even offered to let their subscribers pause their subscription. You could pause your subscription when you are not around to watch TV and continue playing when you return. Heavenly! – It Comes With Data When you make the first time purchase of TStv with N5,000, you will also get a free 20GB data. Did you read that? 20GB data free of charge, and for only N5,000. And to add to this, TStv will also give users 10GB data with subsequent subscriptions. This was too much. Nigerians went crazy with joy. They couldn’t wait to lay hands on the TStv decoders. Beyond the four great inventions of China that included the compass, gunpowder, paper making, and printing, there were also many ancient technological inventions that can be said to have come way ahead of their time, or so is our arrogance making us believe. Technology has evolved over the years that some technological inventions of just a few years back at today totally useless and unrecognizable. Once upon a time, making it tomato sauce was such hard work I see how to use a grinding stone crush your tomatoes one after the other. Let’s not even get started on the source of heat for cooking, google can help you out of that. Did you know, however, the ancient times were not entirely devoid of technology? In fact, some innovations were so amazing that they are able to survive until modern times. Ancient Technological Inventions 1. Hydro technology In recent times, Peru has been faced with serious water conditions such as having polluted water and the effects of environmental change on the country. This problem seems to be paramount in Lima and it has forced Sedapal, the water utility body to look backward for a solution. In 500AD, the Wari culture built a stone canal which collected mountain water especially during the raining seasons I set them down the mountains into the springs. This helped the people of that time to fight the water pollution menace and might as well help today. 2. Flexible glass In 2012, Corning made a flexible glass known as the Willow glass which was resistant to heat and very foldable. This was a very remarkable fit but not the first of it’s kind or so history claims. There are different accounts from Petronius, Pliny the Elder and Duo Cassius about a glassmaker who made the ‘vitrium flexile’ buy sadly was ordered to be killed by the Emperor who considered it a possible means of devaluation to precious stones. Truthfully, his invention was way above his time. 3. Stone walls Peru just seems to have had a lot going on for them in ancient times. So they also had stone walls built so smugly and to fit in Inca that it has beat the imagination and knowledge of all till date. The stones were placed with each fitting accurately to the one adjacent it, irrespective of angle or shape. How this was even a possibility beats my mind! 4. Town planning Digging up old sites has countless times proved very interesting and brought to bare so many unimagined treasures. When Archaeologists dug up Mahenjoro in Pakistan, they knew it was 5000 years old but they never expected a beautifully planned city with well laid out sewers, stone walls, cisterns, wells with good drinking water and what have you. It would be no surprise if they had a detailed course on town planning. 5. Cement Another of the ancient technological inventions is Cement. Today, cement is basically a mixture of clay and limestone brought to a hot temperature of 1450 Celsius and gives up so much carbon to the atmosphere. This is in contrast to the ancient Roman cement made from volcanic rock, lime and seawater and which consumed less fuel being mixed at 900 Celsius and also caused little or no pollution. Not surprisingly, it is also said to have been much more durable than what we have today. 6. Death ray In 2004, Discovery Channel’s TV show, Mythbusters, unsuccessfully tried to recreate an ancient weapon called the death ray and so termed it a myth. However, some MIT students in 2005 not only recreated it but also set a boat ablaze. This weapon was built by the Great Archimedes in 212 BC and was used by the lost city of Syracuse in Sicily against enemy ships. 7. Damascus steel This strong steel made from a combination of different materials and Asian wootz steel around 300BC was able to cut other metals. The recipe for this steel was guarded so jealously that all attempts to recreate such amazing quality failed until recent times. The Levant people from over 2000 years ago sure had a swell time making swords from this and using them. 8. Wheels The Mesopotamians are known for the creation of pottery in ancient times. This love led to the invention of wheels around the time of 3500 BC and in 3 centuries, it was added to chariots and today, we have it on almost everything. This is definitely one ancient invention that still draws awe today as it makes so many machines very useful to man’s survival. 9. Steam Engine The first steam engine in the world was invented by Heron Alexandrinus who is also known as Hero of Alexandria. Referred to as aeolipile, after the Greek gods of wind. The Steam engine was designed with nozzles to expel steam which was created by boiling water. The next reinvention of steam engine was in 1577 by Taqu al-Din who was a philosopher, engineer, and an astronomer. From all indications, the people of old times had technology going on for them and as modern, as we are, we might still have a lesson or two to draw from them. These ancient technological inventions have opened the doors for newer things. *** Source: https://wiredbugs.com/ancient-technological-inventions/

The coming of social media has brought with it a lot of gains to its many users around the world. From operating businesses to just having a good time reaching out to family and friends, social media has served as a way of enriching human interaction and promoting starters in the field of entrepreneurship. However, as good as it is, social media has also brought with it too many problems that have caused a lot of controversy around the world. One of these problems is fake news. Fake News Fake news has taken over social media. People now deliberately go online to propagate falsehood. They will, for instance, sit in the comfort of their homes and compose messages that they clearly know is false then. They will then send these messages out to unsuspecting persons asking them to forward the information to other people. At the end of the day, these fake messages will spread very far and wide, causing problems in the society. A Good Example One sound example of the damage that can be caused by fake news will be found in the period when the Ebola disease ravaged through Nigeria and caused a lot of people to panic. People became very cautious about touching others and businesses became less operative. Soon, a message was spread all round social media, asking people to bathe with warm water mixed with salt because it will prevent Ebola disease from penetrating their bodies. This message spread round very quickly that many people actually believed it. They proceeded to bathe with salt water, urging family and friends to do the same. Of course the news was fake and some of the people who bathed with the salt water, developed serious complications afterwards. There are many other instances of these fake news and they are rampant all over Facebook and WhatsApp. WhatsApp, A Home of Fake News WhatsApp has come to be known as one of the places where fake news spreads the most. On WhastsApp, fake news spreads with the speed of a fire set to dry grass. On a daily basis fake messages and news articles are sent around WhatsApp with people encouraging others to share and pass around. This is a very dangerous trend which can go a very long way to cause very serious problems in the society especially if people are too lazy to verify the information they are consuming. This is why it has become imperative to do something about curbing the trend of fake news making the rounds. WhatsApp Introduces New Feature To Curb Fake News WhatsApp, which of course, happens to be one of the most used instant messaging systems at the moment, has decided to make a move to curb the spread of fake news. The tech giant recently announced the launch of a new feature globally that will make sure to highlight when a message has been forwarded and not composed by the sender. You need to understand that fake news spread fast when people just forward messages on WhatsApp which they have received without confirming the authenticity. The people they forward the messages to also forward them to others and thus the fake information continue to spread. So this new feature is out to expose people who just forward messages without verifying them and possibly end the trend of false news. The introduction of this new feature was made on Tuesday through the official blog of WhatsApp following the many calls from various parts of the world, including India, to tackle the spread of fake news which is eating deep into social media. In the statement, WhatsApp which is owned by another tech giant, Facebook, said, “Starting today, WhatsApp will indicate which messages you receive, have been forwarded to you. “This extra context will help make one-on-one and group chats easier to follow “It also helps you determine if your friend or relative wrote the message they sent or if it originally came from someone else. “To see this new forwarded label, you need to have the latest supported version of WhatsApp on your phone.” It will be recalled that not long ago, WhatsApp while replying a notice by the Indian government to employ serious and immediate tactics in preventing misuse of its platform, revealed that it was testing a new label that highlights when a message has been forwarded by users of the messaging platform. WhatsApp had revealed that “This could serve as an important signal for recipients to think twice before forwarding messages. “Because it lets a user know if content they received was written by the person they know or a potential rumour from someone else.” Think Twice Before You Forward Messages The instant messaging platform also added: “WhatsApp cares deeply about your safety. “We encourage you to think before sharing messages that were forwarded. As a reminder, you can report spam or block a contact in one tap and can always reach out to WhatsApp directly for help.” Source: https://wiredbugs.com/whatsapp-introduces-new-feature-to-curb-fake-news-all-you-need-to-know/

According to the Coinmarketcap, there are as much as 1656 cryptocurrencies that have a total market capitalization of more than $277 billion. One that is yet to find itself there, however, is the AKoin cryptocurrency which as you can guess from the name, was created by Aliaume Thiam, or was he is popularly known, Akon. Joining other extremely popular cryptos like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, Dash, and many others, Akoin comes for something completely different, to serve as the currency for the futuristic city, that the singer has his mind on creating in the capital of Senegal, Dakar. There are many things to know about this currency. AKoin Cryptocurrency Facts 1. It was created By Akon As earlier stated, AKoin is a cryptocurrency that was started by Akon in 2018. Of Senegalese descent, the Grammy-nominated singer believes that the cryptocurrency will become the savior of Africa in many ways. Before starting the AKoin, the Missouri-born producer has worked on a number of projects that would bring development to African communities including the Akon Lighting Africa through which he has been working to provide solar electricity to 18 African countries. The project is still building to cover much more countries. 2. Akon’s Wakanda City (Akon Crypto City) AKoin will grow to become the official currency of the Wakanda real-life town that the singer is setting up in Dakar, the Senegalese capital. The city will be developed 2000 hectares of land in the country’s capital and it will be known as Crypto City. The city which is not far from the country’s new state of the art airport will have great schools, medical facilities, and a lot more. It will also be a place for people to do business. It is also on the back of the AKoin cryptocurrency that the city will be built and funded. If everything goes as expected with the Akon Crypto City, it will become the first city in the world to have cryptocurrency as the basis of main means of transaction. The goal of the currency is to bring together digital and real life platforms as regards the activities of the cryptocurrency. 3. Coin for entrepreneurs More than just funding the Crypto City, the American Senegalese singer is also hoping that his coin will help young and future entrepreneurs in Africa. This is because he hopes that it will take care of things like the instability of currency, inflation, and other problems that are associated with traditional banking such as poor services. 4. How it will operate Because it is a crypto, it will operate independent of any central bank, and instead, it will take advantage of the blockchain technology. This means that it will serve as a public financial database that the user will have ultimate control and follow transactions. According to Akon, because of the security it promises and delivers, cryptocurrency will be the savior for Africans as it will give back power to the people. 5. Currency of operation Even though it is a currency of its own just like other cryptos including Bitcoin and others that are more popular, the Wakanda Coin as it has also been referred to as is measured by the US dollars which is the international trading currency also used by other cryptocurrencies. 6. The Value of the AKoin Cryptocurrency For now, the AKoin is yet to make its Initial Coin Offering (ICO) which is a fundraising mechanism that will allow for the sale of crypto tokens in exchange for the new currency, or the AKoin. It is the transaction here that will determine the value of the newly introduced currency as it will rise and fall based on this. Once that is done, the AKoin Digital Wallet will be set as well as the AKoin Token and the apps. Not to be confused Not to get things mixed up, there is also another cryptocurrency which is known as the Acoin, and it is completely different from the Akoin. The former is already in circulation with a 1.22 Million total supply. It was launched in 2014 and has a market cap of $112,136 USD. Source: https://wiredbugs.com/akoin-cryptocurrency-facts-wakanda/

Click https://www.nairaland.com/4160166/how-began-speak-isabella-day#69311883 to read the second part of "How I Began To Speak With Isabella The Day After She Died" *** My heart stopped when I saw what had happened. For a moment I was paralyzed with shock then I ran towards the dangling figure and climbed the rock, standing behind her and holding her up so she wouldn't choke to death. Isabella would not have it though. She kicked my legs and bit my right arm which was firmly strapped round her breasts, wailing loudly in the process. I held on tight. Her kicking and biting and crying went on for a long time - I don’t know how long though. However, after some time, she stopped kicking and just kept weeping. I didn’t speak to her. I didn’t know what to say anyway. I just held on to her. My hands were already weary but I knew I had to get her head out of the noose. When her weeping had reduced considerably, I balanced my feet better on the rock, pulled her up higher and began to loosen up the knot. She didn't protest but she was shaking uncontrollably as her cries rang out again in the silent bush. I managed to get her head out of the noose and we both fell to the ground. I was panting heavily from the effort to free her. She was coughing and crying at the same time. Quickly I sat up, raise her head her up and held her in my arms as she began to cry even louder than before. But she didn't object when I drew her closer and embraced her. Her body shook against mine and I didn't know when tears crawled down my own eyes and fell on her hair. I knew that whatever it was that she had gone through must have hit her with a terrible and completely devastating blow. She must have gone through a really horrible experience and only she could understand that now. "It is okay" I told her "you're gonna be okay. I promise" She didn't say anything, just kept on crying bitterly. The sweet fragrance from her hair rose to my nostrils and clung to it. Suddenly she sprang up and began kicking and hitting me. For a moment, I was startled then I regained composure. I knew she was still hurting. She had to be allowed to beat herself out of her depression. “You need to calm down...” I started "How dare you?” she cut me short “Who made you a savior to come after me? Are you crazy? Get out! Get out!" she shrieked. She left me alone and began walking away. I sat still watching her, not offering a word but observing every of her move so she would not do anything suicidal. She was walking with sagged shoulders and a very shaky body. I felt a lot of pity for the girl. She didn’t go far though; after walking for about eleven yards, she collapsed on the floor again, crying. I didn’t know what to do. This has been the strangest experience I have ever had. First of all, it was the weirdest thing to follow a stranger who had “died yesterday” into the middle of a woodland. Who ever does that? And on top of that, I had watched someone I had the most admiration for try to commit suicide right in front of me. God! Joseph would not believe this when I tell him. After a while, she sat up, facing the opposite direction. She was no more crying but I could hear her sniffling. "There's nothing to live for" she said, finally "you should just let me be." Isabella’s voice always penetrated my soul. The sound of her voice made me feel like icy cubes were walking down my spine. It gave me goosebumps and in spite of myself, I wanted to hear her speak some more. I stood up and walked to where she sat with her hands clasped in front of her. I Sat beside her. "There's always something to live for" I said. At that she turned and faced me, an angry look on her face. “What is there to live for, when you have degenerated from being a human being to an object? A mere object for gratification.” I didn’t understand what she meant so I kept a straight face, staring into her wide open eyes. She turned away. “You should let me be. I know what I am doing. You don’t understand me. You can never understand me. You are one of my problems” For the first time, the sound of the voice gave me a fright. I didn’t like what she had just said. You are one of my problems! How could she say that? That was being completely unfair. All I ever did was try to save her from tragic death. I just kept looking at her. “Last night was filled with serious heat and even the AC struggled to shield us from its scorn.” she began speaking again. I wondered what she was talking about. Was she telling me her story? That was so unreal. It was too soon. I bent forward to listen to her “Jacob, my fiancé had come just come inside the bedroom from the toilet with a towel tied round his waist. He was finally going to do it.” She continued “We had been dating for three years and I had never let him touch me. I told him I wanted us to wait till marriage or after he had met my parents and he agreed. He never struggled with me and I appreciated that. Last week, he went to see my parents and everybody was happy for me. So last night he demanded for s*x as if it was some prize he had won. I couldn’t deny him. He had seen my parents. Surely we were going to get married. It was not so bad letting him in.” She paused and sniffed. I watched her face closely. It was filled with utter sadness and tiny wrinkles appeared on her forehead. “Jacob removed his towel and stood there n*ked then demanded that I did the same. I didn’t object. We had a passionate night and I could only imagine what our wedding night would be like. This morning when I woke up, Jacob was not on the bed. I thought he had just gone to the bathroom to bathe but when he did not emerge after an hour, I began to look for him. He was nowhere in the house. I called him but both his numbers were switched off. At first I was not too bothered because I felt he could have rushed out to attend to urgent business and didn’t want to wake me up because he didn’t want to disturb me. However as the day wore on, I became concerned. By 9am today, I called his friends and they confessed they had not seen him too. By 10am I was frantic. I called his number again and it rang. I was furious and decided to tell him a word or two about my anger but when a voice came over, my body went cold. It was a female voice.” She stopped again and wiped her eyes. I began to guess what her plight was. She had been cheated on. But was that enough to make her want to kill herself? I decided to keep listening. Maybe there was twist to the story. “I asked the woman who had answered the call who she was” she continued “and I was shocked when she said she was Jacob’s wife. According to her, they had been married for four years. Four years! And I never found out. Jacob promised he loved me but he was already married” She looked at me and the fresh round of tears flowing down her face broke my heart, I wished she could stop crying. “I couldn’t believe this was happening to me all over again” she said and I understood her sadness. She may have experienced too many repetitions of these scenarios. She may have been jilted too many times by men who were captivated only by her beauty and wanted to tap from it. I was right. “All my life men have looked at me as if I was an object of s*xual gratification.” she said “They say I have huge hips and a lovely face and so they want to sleep with me and then go off to marry another woman. I was only good for s*x. Good only for s*x. I have been with seven men. After promising heaven and earth, they all leave after sleeping with me. That was why I would not let Jacob sleep with me till he had seen my people. Look at what Jacob did to me” She began to cry again. I was about to speak to her when she began her outburst again. “I watched my younger brother, Gideon, die because if Jacob. I had given him the money I had which was supposed to have used for Gideon’s treatment. I thought I had finally found the man who would love me not because of what he saw on my face or in my hips, or what was between my legs, but because of what he saw in my heart and in my words and in my life.” She was speaking through her tears now. “Now I can’t live with the guilt. How can I survive this? I hear my brother, Gideon’s voice every night. I killed him for Jacob. And now Jacob is gone. I better die. I can’t survive this. I feel worthless. No one even cares about me. Nothing matters anymore.” She stopped I didn’t know what to tell her, how to comfort her. It was too grueling a thing to do. How do you tell a completely broken woman that she should keep the hope alive? I decided to try. “I am sorry about...” “People like you make the world a crazy place.” She cut me short yet again “Why did you follow me here? Why were you so interested in me? Why? Why? Well, I know why. You followed me here because you’ve seen Isabella with her beautiful face and her huge hips and you can’t help but chase after her, woo her and sleep with her then move onto the next target. Oh my God. Why did God make you men in this world? This planet will be better off without you all!” I kept quiet after she had stopped talking. She was no more crying now. She just stared into the distance, as if completely oblivious of me. I didn’t know what to tell her but at least I’d found out her name and I understood her pain. “Isabella” I began. The sound of her name on my lips gave me profound joy. “I am sorry you had to go through all that. The world is filled with selfish people who only want to use you and then dump you. They come to you like innocent lambs but they are dangerous beasts trying to devour you like cooked yam. However we must keep our heads raised high for hope of better times. Better times always come. I have been in your shoes Isabella. Not only women go through these things. I’ve been with women who were only there to take my money and disappear into thin air. Women I thought loved me. It’s like that. You must be strong Isabella.” I told her She raised her eyes and looked at me and I couldn’t read what was in it. I didn’t know whether she was feeling what I was telling her or not. “And, Isabella” I continued “not all men are the way you have described them. No matter how terrible your experience has been with men, you need to know that there are still good men out there. Great men who can love you earnestly without asking for anything in return. There are such out there men and I know many of them. You can’t lose hope, Isabella and you definitely can’t kill yourself off for anyone. Remember they would continue to live long after you may have died and you would have given up your destiny for some asshole who would really be punished for his foolishness. Come on, Isabella, you are young and beautiful and obviously very smart. There’s a lot to live for. A whole lot my dear. Just keep the hope alive” By time I finished, Isabella was looking at me again. This time I could read the expression in her eyes. They told me of the deep appreciation she had for my words. I knew I had won her over. “No man has ever spoken to me like that before. Thank you!” she said and my joy knew no bounds. I felt like flying. Ok, so I bet you are itching to hear the end of the story. Well, the story has ended o. What more do you want to hear? I saved her and we went home. Finish. And, oh, I need to add that I was given a hero’s treatment in her household because everyone felt that without me she would have been dead. So now, I am a hero in Isabella’s home. That’s really cool, don’t you think? And, also, well... Isabella and I are now married. It’s been almost two years and we already have a cute young boy between us.
