The clash with the Police yesterday came as the Nigerian Army, late Monday night, explained why soldiers used live bullets on the protesting Shi’ites. Trouble started again, yesterday, as the IMN members, who were on a march along Adetokunbo Ademola Way, Wuse Zone 2, engaged policemen that were positioned to prevent a breakdown of law and order. Vanguard gathered that as soon as the protesters sighted the policemen, they started throwing missiles, including stones, bottles and other dangerous objects at them. An eyewitness told Vanguard that a petrol bomb was thrown at one of the new patrol cars recently donated to the police by Dangote Group of Companies, which burnt it completely. A senior Police officer, who spoke on grounds of anonymity, said the policemen being attacked had to call for reinforcement, which led to arrest of no fewer than 400 of the IMN members. The officer said those arrested had been detained at the Federal SARS facility in Abuja from where they will be arraigned in court. The suspects

THE organised labour on Wednesday rejected the N22,500 proposal by the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, as the new Minimum Wage. Briefing journalists at the Labour House, Abuja, President of Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba said with the new twist of things by the government, labour has gone back to its previous demand of N66,500. Ayuba Wabba, NLC President Wabba said that the N30,000 which was the agreement at the end of the Tripartite Negotiation Committee meeting was a product of compromise. He explained that 21 states responded through a proper memoranda at the initial stage of the negotiation and even the quoted figures. “There was public hearing and inputs were made before we arrived at N30,000. A female witch doctor believed to be part of a car theft syndicate has been arrested by the police.

The popular Kenyan witch doctor identified as Annah Mutheu was arrested at her palatial home in Tala, Machakos County following an operation by security operatives that lasted about fifteen hours, according to reports.

The police said they arrested the witch doctor and one other suspect who led the them to the scene.

More than 10 vehicles, many of them four-wheel drive, were found parked at her compound, with officers saying Mutheu was at pain to explain their ownership.

The native doctor who claims to be the richest in Mchawi area in Kenya, moves around in expensive cars, and is reported to have heavily invested in petroleum merchandise as well as commercial and rental buildings.

One Tobi Kodaolu, 20, has recounted how he lured a commercial motorcyclist, Oni Oluwajuwon, into the bush and killed him in Ogun State.

The suspect was arrested alongside his sibling, Kehinde Kodaolu, 16, and another suspect, Hammed Babalola, 18, after committing the crime, last Wednesday, at Iyana Efon via Orile-Ilugun.

The suspect, who is a farm laborer, revealed that he had known Oluwajuwon in the neighborhood and on a fateful day, he requested for his service, which he readily obliged.

Tobi said when they got into a thick bush, he asked the motorcyclist to stop and he began to machete him. “I used my cutlass to cut him many times. And when he was gasping for air and certainly dying, I took away his motorcycle.

I later came to meet them (referring to his accomplices) and we headed for Abeokuta,” he said. The suspect said he intended to use the motorcycle for commercial purposes in Abeokuta.

Though the accomplices said the suspected murderer admitted them into an oath of secrecy a week before the killing and robbery, Tobi maintained that his sibling and the other suspect were not involved in the killing.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said the remains of Babalola were abandoned at the scene of the crime and that the suspects have been responsible for the series of motorcycle snatching in the area.

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the EFCC, says it arrested a suspected Yahoo boy after an intelligence report, as exotic cars, forged documents were recovered from him.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office has arrested one Oke Omoniyi Benjamin (33) from Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State for internet fraud.

Benjamin was arrested sequel to an Intelligent Report received on 27th August, 2018, alleging that he is into internet fraud and has also defrauded a number of foreigners of their money through fraudulent schemes.

The report however stated that Benjamin used the proceeds of his fraud to buy two cars, and also own a unisex salon known as Signatures Unisex Salon located at No. 238, Ilawe Road, opposite Baptist School, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

At the point of arrest, Operatives of the Commission recovered an Acura TL, 2010 with Registration Number BDG 969FH and a Lexus ES 300, 2002 with Registration Number EPE 829FJ, two Laptops, two Phones, forged documents and several counterfeit cheques of various foreign Banks.

Man arrested for producing, distributing fake alcoholic drinks in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 38-year-old for producing and distributing fake alcoholic drinks.

Emmanuel Nwodu was arrested along Mosalashi market, Sango, Agege with two cartons of alcoholic drinks suspected to be adulterated.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed that he produces the drinks in his one-room shop at Mosalashi market, Agege.

He later led operatives to the said shop at Mosalashi market where he concocts the drinks.

A search warrant was executed and the following items were recovered therein: two 30 litres of chemical, suspected to be ethanol; two cartons of Elders Aromatic Schnapps, suspected to be fake; fifty one (51) small bottles of Chelsea dry gin, suspected to be fake; thirty-five (35) pieces of Chelsea cork; five(5) labels of Lords, Chelsea and Elders alcoholic drinks.

The suspect was charged to court on Wednesday.

On April 3, 2018, at Ajuwon market, Mushin, the Command arrested and prosecuted a 55-year-old trader, Benjamin Ojukwu, for producing and distributing fake wine and alcoholic drinks.

Also, on April 11, 2018, the Commissioner of a police, CP Edgal Imohimi, arrested the owners of an illegal brewery, valued at over N120 million, where fake stout and malt drinks were produced at Igbogbo Bayeku area of Ikorodu.

The factory was subsequently closed by the authorities.
