The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has declared that its ongoing strike will continue despite the reopening of all schools by the Federal Government.

This was made known by Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, National President of ASUU
He said that all the issues the union raised with the Federal Government are yet to be addressed.
“The government is free to open their schools, just like our members are also entitled to their dues,” Ogunyemi said.

He went on to explain to ASUU members are being owed between three to six months of their salaries.

The Federal Government has approved the reopening of 104 Unity Colleges across the 36 states in Nigeria which commence on 11 October 2020.

this was made known by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

he said the approval was for students in Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School.
Adamu noted that students can now complete their academic session which ends in December.

EducationCOOU University Lecturers Shun ASUU Strike, Resume Duties by schoolwatchdog(op):
Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State branch, said they have resumed academic duties in the university, and would not join the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.

The Chairman of the university’s chapter of ASUU, Prof. Okey Aniebo, two weeks ago stated that lecturers in the university would not resume for duty as the institution reopens.

Aniebo said institutions lacked basic facilities for learning, while staff were also paid abysmally.

But lecturers in the university after a meeting on Tuesday denied Aniebo and members of executives, stating that they were being selfish with the struggle.

EducationNiger State Announce Date For Term Academic Session by schoolwatchdog(op):
Niger State Government has announced the reopening of schools for the third term of 2019/2020 academic session on 4 October

this was made known by Hajiya Hannatu Salihu, the Commissioner for Education.

Salihu said that the decision to reopen schools was a result of a series of meetings with stakeholders.

The Abia State Government have announced monday, 28 Sepember for the reopening of primary and secondary schools to complete the 2019/2020 academic session with one week for revision classes.
This was made know by the State Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu.
The State Government also disclosed that the promotion examination which is expected to start from Monday, 5th October to Friday, 16th October, 2020, will be used to assess pupils/students based on the tutorial from first and second term, as well as the radio and television classroom program.
