For tech professionals in Nigeria, there's an extra challenge. Recruiters abroad may not recognise your employers, your institutions, or your certifications. A well-written CV, therefore, doesn't just list your experience. Instead, it translates it into language they understand and trust. That's the gap we're closing today.

What should your professional summary actually say?

Most summaries are a waste of space. "Passionate and hardworking developer with strong communication skills" tells a recruiter nothing they can use.

1. Your CV dies before any human sees it.

You must have heard of ats. In case you haven't, it is software recruiters use to manage and search through applications. If 100 people apply for the same role, no recruiter worth their salt is going through all 100 one by one. They search and filter inside the ats using keywords from the job post, and only the CVs that show up get read. So the ats doesn't reject you with a score like people think. What happens is worse. Your CV simply never surfaces, and you fall into an abyss nobody ever gets to. Those instant rejection emails you get? Usually knockout questions on the application form, like years of experience or work authorization, not a robot reading your CV. And here is the part most people miss: if your CV is one fancy Canva design with columns, tables and graphics everywhere, the software cannot parse it properly. Your details come out scrambled, so even a keyword search won't find you. Simple, clean, single column format wins every time.
