Manners in every country are different; what is polite in China or Thailand may not be polite in the USA, Australia, UK, Germany, France, Canada, Nigeria or New Zealand. There are however basic rules you can follow and still fit in anywhere in the world. Below are the basic rules you must follow while you dine: 1. Put the napkin on your lap. 2. Wait until everyone has been served to begin eating. 3. Everyone begins eating at the same time. 4. Do not make sounds when eating. 5. Sit up straight at the table and bring the food to your mouth: do not lean down to your plate. 6. Do not lean on your arm or elbow while eating (as well as before or after eating): you may rest only your hand and wrist on the edge of the table. 7. Try to be friendly with others. If you are a man, you should pay attention to ladies sitting closest to you. Pass the dishes to them, serve them, etc. Equal attention must be paid to children. 8. Hold the knife in your right hand, and fork – in your left hand. 9. Cut large pieces of meat, potatoes and vegetables into bite-size pieces; eat the pieces one at a time. 10. Each time you cut a small piece with the knife, put it into your mouth with a fork. 11. When eating spaghetti, hold your fork in the right hand. Wind the noodles up on your fork: the spaghetti on your fork should be eaten in one bite. It is very impolite to eat half your noodles and allow the other half to fall back on your plate. 12. While eating, remember not to talk with your mouth full of food. 13. When the hostess/host offers you food, give her/him a direct answer; if you refuse the first time, she might not ask you again. 14. At the table, ask others to pass you dishes that are out of your reach. Good _expression to know is: “Please pass me the___________.” 15. When you have finished your meal, place your knife and fork side by side on the plate. 16. Never use toothpick at the table: it is impolite. 17. Before you leave the table, refold your napkin and put it beside your plate. 18. When you are unsure what to do, observe the way your western friends eat in order to avoid mistakes. |

This is the story of a young boy whose parents were murdered during 2002 riots in Kaduna. He was aged 11 years at the time. His parents, Mr Austine and Mrs Josephine Moses, were missionaries until they met their untimely death. The boy left his house to play football but returned home to see that all his parents had laboured for had been razed down and he would never see his mother and father again. He was taken to London by his uncle almost immediately after the incident. While in London, he began deploying his football skills. Though his parents were murdered, his passion for football was never killed. He played football for his school and later for a local Tandrige League club until Crystal Palace FC approached him. From that point, his career progressed in leaps and bounds. This player played for England's under 16, 17, 19 and 21 teams between 2005 and 2010 scoring 11 goals for England during this period. He later moved to Wigan Athletic and now he plays for Chelsea. This footballer is called VICTOR MOSES. His story is a touching one, I share his pains. I also share his courage. He had a choice not to step into Nigeria again but he didn't take that option. When the call to serve his fatherland came, Moses dumped England and embraced Nigeria... That is patriotism! Today, we see a Victor Moses bringing joy to every Nigerian including those who may have inspired his parent's death... That is Love! On Sunday, Moses would stand for the National Anthem and pledge allegiance to a country that couldn't defend his parents... That is faith! Moses would deliver the "African Cup of Nations" trophy to Nigeria not minding what had happened in the past... That is forgiveness! Moses rose through bitterness and despair to the limelight of hope and courage. He never gave up on his country. He persevered... That is purpose! If someone like Victor Moses, despite the bitter past, never gave up on Nigeria, then why should we....! ONE NIGERIA |
Four persons were killed on Tuesday, along Ibadan/Ife highway, in an accident left three others seriously injured. Reports say the crash occurred when a Toyota Hiace bus hit a stone left on the road and lost control. The bus was said to have left Lagos and was heading towards Abuja when it had the accident. It reportedly burst into flames when it hit the stone around Asejire area of Ibadan. An official of the Oyo State Emergency Management Authority, SEMA, said the accident was so fatal that axes and cutlasses were used to remove the trapped passengers. Out of the seven passengers in the car, four of them were reportedly burnt to death while three others were rescued and rushed to the hospital. The Unit Commander of the FRSC in Egbeda, Abiodun Akinlade, did not confirm the casualties, but lamented that the crash could have been prevented if the driver had driven with caution. |

Big Brother Africa Amplified, Millicent Mugadi, the tall and sexy Kenya actress has won the first stage of her ambition to become a council boss of her people in the on going Kenya elections. Milly, as she is fondly called has been causing a lot of stirs in the Kenya political environment as the only lady seriously working hard at her political party named TNA to beat the men to it. The presidential flag bearer for TNA is the son of the Kenya’s first President, Jome Kenyatta, Uhuru. In a brief chat with Milly shortly after her victory at the primaries, she said ”I won my party elections as the Councilor where I wrestled politically with the incumbent councilor. I will be battling out with other political parties come March 4th this year. I could not believe that politics and movies are different ball games entirely. In fact, acting is not the same thing as politics as I saw hell since my incursion into politics. But, sincerely, we must give it to African women who are making relevance in politics, they have really tried to beat the menfolk to it, now I know it’s not a day’sjob at all. I am so humbled by the kind of support I received during the last primaries from my people and hope by 4th of March, God will give us victory over other opposition parties. For now, I’m the only lady so far in my area,” she said.

Ten Reasons to Throw Out Your Microwave Oven by Anthony Wayne and Lawrence Newell From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, we will conclude this article with the following: 1). Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term - permanent - brain damage by "shorting out" electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue]. 2). The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food. 3). Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods. 4). The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body. 5). Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down. 6). The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens. 7). Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America. . The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.9). Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations. 10). Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence. |
