Unemployment is a social and economic problem that most countries are facing today. The situation is made worse in a society such as Nigeria that abhors poverty but glorifies materialism with less emphasis on hard work. This social malaise no doubt is caused by many factors with population explosion as one of the major causes of unemployment. Nigeria has the largest population in Africa with over one hundred and seventy million people. Out of the number, more than fifty percent are within the labour force of the country. This implies a serious pressure on the few available job opportunities. Also, Nigeria academic curricula from primary school to secondary school level which are geared mainly towards theoretical rather than practical education exacerbates the problem of unemployment. As a result, prospective job-seekers are not relevant to the various endeavours in the public life where they seek employment. In order words, many graduate of high schools have no place in the economy because they do not have any skill to offer for exchange. The course of study is another factor that reduces the prospects of employment for fresh job-seekers in the country. Some of then suffer from incurable aversion to practical or entrepreneurial ventures which require application of skills. It is interesting that the government in recent times has begun a new emphasis on technical and entrepreneurial education which encourages self reliance and new approach to the challenges of unemployment in the country. Fresh graduates and other job-seekers should embrace the trend as white collar jobs where people will just sit under air conditioned offices,do little or nothing and get paid are in short supple or not available. Some times, employers of labour are not helping matters as they offer jobs to people based on certain prejudice such as ethnicity, sex, religion, family, bribery and political affiliation. Unemployment in Nigeria is indeed growing at an alarming rate. Many of the youthful population out of frustration, have been forced into criminal activities such as internet fraud(yahoo yahoo), armed robbery, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, political thuggery, and other despicable crime for a living. But it is not right for the youths to see crimes as a way of getting back society which has failed to give them an opportunity for a better life. Government should therefore, ensure that the agencies responsible for addressing the issue of unemployment carry out their work creditably. Also, the federal and state government should restructure the academic curricula to suit the demand of the present day economy. Young graduates should learn to apply their knowledge and talents to productive ventures as a way of overcoming unemployment. Again, loans and credits should be made available for young graduates who wants to start up smale scale businesses. To read more on this visit http://lorinemedia..com |

Until now the people of this country have not been able to appreciate the durable probabilities or the consequences of putting together of more than two hundred and seventy ethnic languages under one geo-political entity known as Nigeria. It is this contrivance by the colonial masters under Lord Lugard in 1914 that has placed the country in the present political ordeal after hundred years of existence. Thus after the country has acquired independence, passed through excruciating war, decades of military dictatorship and subjective series of leadership, Nigerians are still conscious of their ethnic origins, religions and backgrounds. Consequently, divisive forces of ethnicity and tribalism have either called for or attempted to secede from the mothering entity. In the fiftied the North threatened to pull out of Nigeria under their nine-point agenda. In 1963, Isaac Adaka Bore of Riverine area of the South declared the Niger-Delta Republic which did not last following the onset of the declaration of Biafra by the Igbos between 1967 and 1970. Since then many other political and religious crises had threatened the unity and continued existence of this country, the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election would have been the beginning of the end but for God’s intervention and the will of the people to ensure the prevalence of peace. Today the embers of acrimony and divisiveness are being fanned afresh by maladministration and lopsidedness in which the leadership of the country is piloting the nation. A lot of injustice, inequity, unfairness and sectional interests seemed to be the guiding principles in the administration of this country, especially from the perception of the peoples of the South - South and South East. Their argument is that the federal government has since the end of the civil war not lived up to the principles of “no victor no vanquish” by failure to embark on the rehabilitation of the South East or accorded the oil producing areas priority in the scheme of things as the major source of the country’s revenue. The current agitation for restructuring the priority however came in the wake of the recent quit notice to the Igbos doled out by the Arewa youth movement on the igbos living in the North. Majority of the people of this country including the leadership, the National Assembly, top politicians from the North and South agree that the only viable option for Nigeria to remain as political entities is restructuring. Many might not agree to the approach to this issue but it must be pointed out that the central issue is the retention of power at the centre but with equity in the sharing of political and national appointments irrespective of party affiliations as well as developmental projects as provided in the constitution. The other option is the devolution of power to the federating states, as obtained in the regional structure of the first republic. Majority of opinion tilt towards the dusting and implementing the 2014 National Conference report. It is believed that this report represents the consensus of Nigerians and would likely shake-off the hangover of a union forced down our throat by our colonial masters. ![]() to see more news commentaries go to http://www.lorinemedia..com |

According to my survey, some women especially young ladies with short hair envy their female counterparts with lengthy hair and thereby feel cheated. The reason being that some are naturally inherited while some blame themselves for spoiling the naturalness (virginity) of the hair at young age by using a cream relaxer on it. hey ladies, do you know you can make that hair grow fast and even more lengthy as you want it to. here are the five simple tips that will help you achieve that. 1 . Use castor oil: castor oil is rich in vitamin E and contains omega-9 fatty acid. mix the oil with equal amount of coconut and olive oil. Apply it on your hair and massage your scalp your scalp. After the massage leave it for 30-45minutes. then wash with shampoo. 2. Whip up an egg mask: egg is not left out as it is one of the essential ingredients to grow your hair faster. it is rich in protein, iron, zinc and phosphorous all these packed nutrients helps make the hair grow fast and strong. apply a mixture of two egg yolk with olive, castor and coconut oil on your scalp. leave for 15-20 minutes and then wash out with a cold water and shampoo it. you can also whisk an egg and add one cup of milk, two tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil, and lemon juice to it. apply it on your scalp. leave for 20-30 minutes. wash with water and shampoo your hair. 3. Stay stress-free: This may sound difficult but it is not too difficult to achieve. it is true that life is full of stress but we should try as much as possible to stay out of stress. according to research, stress is one of the most important factors that contribute to hair loss. therefore, minimize the stress in your life by having enough rest and sleep. it is believed that the growth hormone is released during sleep. 4. Eat healthy foods: Eating healthy foods rich in protein, vitamins, calcium, potassium and minerals will help boost your hair growth. henceforth, always seek for foods high in vitamin B complex, vitamin C and E, iron, zinc, selenium, etc. 5. Massage your scalp: Massaging the hair scalp helps stimulate the hair follicles and promotes blood flow to the hair. a. To achieve this, apply oil or conditioner to your hair. b. gently rub your fingers on your hair scalp in a circular motion for 3-5 minutes. c. wash out the oil or conditioner with warm water.
