If I am socialist/welfarist in thinking and subscribes to government interventions always, via subsidies etal, plus government control, I.e ownership/running of processes and entities private sector is better suited to run/define, then why should my independent-minded adult children be obligated to follow my belief and automatically align with me instead of Asiwaju?

I will make simple analogy so that you will understand(from the simplest). We all know that people(which includes ones children) want the best position/outlook/outcome , therefore,people make decisions based on these criteria .

Firstly, in a family , the father (leadership) "must" teach his children certain values ,which includes contentment ,family loyalty & pride .

We all know that fingers are not equal ,if a father is only able to provide rice and ponmo for his children,they should eat it with joy without comparison with the neighbour that could afford rice and turkey for his children.

A contented child will happily eat what his father provide without complaining.

A loyal and proud child will not go to the neighbour to eat turkey because his father couldn't afford it .

A father (leadership) should be able to convince his children why eating rice and ponmo now doesn't make them inferior and also lead his children out of poverty ,a father that failed in communication and chartering is an irresponsible father .

You spoke about some qualities of BAT which made the son to follow him instead of the father because the son has freewill/independence.

I don't know if you're a father or not ,or you have one ,but if a son doesn't see his father as his first role model ,then I will tell you now in plain terms,that father is an irresponsible and a failed father ! If you're a father , I'm sure you will not be happy if you take a step in one direction but your son took the step in another direction especially the step of your "enemy" .
