No... use your phone like Dat first... but if you notice battery drain, then you might need to update and reset. A new user complained about the battery until she had to factory reset. Though her rom version might be different from yours.
Thanks Mufti Agba. I dey feel you here. Presently, I don't have any issue with the phone. Everything working fine. I just need physical protection for it to avoid story that touch.

GrandMufti:
Yes if you update through OTA . You can avoid the factory reset by downloading the full rom and flashing manually.

Your best bet is to read the changelog before deciding to update or waiting for about 3 weeks while reading feedbacks from those who have updated
I also saw the notification to update but as I know understand una English for here again, I no try am. All these factory reset they worry me. If I update and factory reset, won't I lost the update again?

Another thing is that note 5 AI run Android 8 Oreo while 5 Pro runs Android 7 Nougat though I heard pro can also be updated. If you check gsmarena and compare the two, just click differences you'll see that it seems 5AI dual is better.

As for me, I need two things now, the guy wey help me cut my sim wanted to forcefully sell screen guard for me but I know say my people get Tempered glass for here. I beg I wan buy. Number 2, 360 degree case, the soft case wey follow this thing come no fit hold am if my children throw way this phone. I beg help my ministries, I get pikins for house wey always drag phone with us.

Hello House, I got my Redmi Note 5 from Jumia today but I must tell you that it's not 5 note pro. The phone is note 5 AI dual camera. I've been following the reviews of the phones on gsmarena.com before I bought them. Both 5AI and 5 Pro have the same thing (only my few different) from look, chipset, same battery capacity etc. The difference are in camera, 5AI has dual camera has note 5 Pro has but 5AI has AI features (whatever that is, you can get it through Google as we are not in class) also 5AI has 13mp front camera with AI features as well but 5 Pro come with 20mp super selfie though apertures are different.
From what I've seen on gsmarena.com, 5AI has quick charge 3.0 while note 5 Pro has quick charge 2.0 (though you'll have to get your adapter yourself to get these).

If what I'm posted is what you've been buying has 5 note pro kindly let me know.

Hello house, I never get my phone oh, but I want to ask, as all what I've been reading here is somehow.

Must you root your xiaomi phone before you enjoy it?
Can one continue to get proper update through OTA without unlocking the bootloader?
Are xiaomi official OTA update not good enough?

Please I need answers. Thanks

Same question going through my mind. Jumia price is cheaper currently 70k for redmi note 5 4/64g variant. Are there any difference with the ones sold here by our in house dealers?
You'll get free delivery if you are in Lagos, Abuja and PH. Also get 5% off if you pay through JumiaPay.

I made my order day before yesterday in the evening and yesterday when I tracked, it's already in Abuja. I hope delivery will be today. I can't wait.

BeardedTraveler:
Desire 10 pro is almost 2 years old, uses MTK and it's ugly (those bezels)

The Gionee is more than a year old too,MTK too. I won't be spending top money on MTK again, not after my last experience with MTK.

Redmi Note 5 is the CLEAR winner, not even because this is a Xiaomi thread.
I checked gsmarena for note 5 review, what I saw was note 5 pro but I couldn't see any note 5 pro on aliexpress.

Hi everyone, somebody directed me to this thread and I've gotten lot of information about Xiaomi here. My reservation is just about the warranty. Most time you buy phone even here in Nigeria and within short time it brick without having anything to do to it.

If there is a way information can get to Xiaomi to see the need to have a service center in Nigeria, it would have been good. Seeing the number of Nigerians using this product can motivate them and its an avenue for expansion. Who Tecno and Infinix help but because of their stupid service center (where they will be attending to you like they are helping you) people tend to buy their products much.

From the look of it, I may join Xiaomi club soon just that I'm confused on what to choose base on my budget.
