Pagans in my hometown in Ijebu worship a mermaid goddess called Yemoja at Oluweri River.

They say fishes in the river don't ever get cooked i.e. become soft to be edible (though I don't believe that).

When next I travel home, I will confirm and see if that's really true or just a myth.
