It will be the portion of his brothers in Nigeria too. |
Codepain:Yeah especially some people like this fellow 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 |
yarimo:Suffering and pretending lifestyle is so bad. |
Nigeria has reached a dangerous political precipice. What is happening today with Tinubu led government has brought the political and socio-economic mechanism of Nigeria to the fore. The connivance, scheming and rudderless political machinations of the past 64 years has been laid bare with the last Nigerian Presidential elections that "produced" Bola Ahmed Tinubu. All the events of the pre and post elections of this period revealed a Country balkanized with ethnic prejudice. A Country so deeply enmeshed in tribalism and institutionally vowed exclusion of a particular race in certain positions, even if it entails hoisting a moving corpse, in the contraption called Nigeria. The level of corruption at the centre is so scandalous that one begins to imagine if there is conscience in the spiritual make up of this people leading the Federal Government of Nigeria. My spirit contrite when I look at the agony and hopelessness of Nigerian citizens. The aged, widows, orphans and the incapacitated, what is their condition in Nigeria of today? There are two lessons to learn by Nigerians from the socio-economic and political situation of the past 24 months. One, the " Hunger Protest" that raged across the Nation, especially in the North and South West, is a clear indication that hunger and starvation that bad leadership and governance precipitates knows no tribe or racial prejudice. It is a natural phenomenon that unsettles all. It is oblivious of religion, tribe or party persuasion and loyalty. Two, supporting a candidate in an election based on tribal, religious and ethnic sentiment is political harakiri, as in the case of BAT, an ill-wind that blows no good. Consequently, Nigeria is in dire economic straits, rising insecurity, starvation and hunger has pervaded the society; in midst of plenteous human and natural resources. If you take a deep look into the faces of Nigerians you will see frustration, despondency and glaring signs of suicide contemplation. There is no sign of reprieve at all. During the reign of King Louis XVI of France between 1774 to 1792 the notoriety of his government and the poverty in France that led the famous French Revolution that started from 1789 to 1799 is a far cry of what is happening today in Nigeria. Even the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has not shown any sign of remorse. His last National broadcast in response to the "Hunger Protest" depicted a quality of menace and exuded the confidence of a man that is merely " taking his turn". Even, the National broadcast gave subtle encouragement to the law enforcement agencies to crush innocent citizens of Nigeria driven to peaceful protest by unbearable hunger and hardship. Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senator, in utter disrespect for Nigerians made jest of the protesters, telling them to continue on the streets while he and the other "owners" of Nigeria are ensconced in Aso Rock Villa enjoying themselves. I think Aso Rock Villa is a contemporary Nigerian version of Versailles of pre- Revolution France. A place that is not in touch with the happenings in the larger society. A place for the Lords of the Land and their Mistresses, away from the hoi pollois of Nigeria to avoid poverty tainting them. However, all the advanced Countries of the world that their societies are heterogeneous have always put the best of their best in political leadership positions without recourse to racial lines. In fact, quality, real quality is their sine qua non for choice of candidates they elect to positions of trust and responsibility; not mediocrity or biased ethnic sentiments and propaganda. And that is why they have succeeded in building strong egalitarian societies not the epileptic socio-economic and political structure of our clime. Nevertheless, BAT has less than three years, all things being equal, to finish the political revelry with his buddies. All the emotional tantrums, by way of Hunger Protest, agitation and all, are infinitesimal fraction of the solution to the political malaise. It is of no consequence. BAT is more hardened than King Pharaoh. Let us continue to leak our wounds till the next elections. Still, it all depends if we change our timid, retrogressive and archaic political mentality. Or the vicious political cycle that has arrested, stunted our political growth and socio-economic development will continue ad infinitum.
