The truth is that while northerners will find it extremely easy to move to their respective states, that cannot be said of the Easterners. That's because the northerners rarely like living in rented apartments and love staying in the midst of their own people. Even northerners who make reasonable amount of money would rather keep the cash or invest it in the North. I know northerners who sell trucks of food items in Enugu but still sleep on mats and don't even own a pin in Enugu. They take their millions back home to their region. Many northerners still return to their states to vote every 4 years.

On the other hand, Igbos rent house, go ahead to build and develop any place they dwell, extending their homes to strange lands. They live among the locals and only try to expand when they attain some level of comfort in their host communities. This makes it almost impossible for the Igbos to relocate as many of them have settled in their new homes, married and their 3rd to 4th generations have married the locals without connecting with their Igbo roots.
