This was the same epistle you preached during buhari era!

You better receive sense and don't let them chop you and your children's life.
Of course Tinubu is continuing from where he stopped. It's a journey in the right direction.

Politics › Re: CNG: Why Is Tinubu, Ministers, Senators, Governors Not Leading By Example by Softmirror: 5:02pm On Nov 28, 2024
AcuraZDX:
If the president really believes in this whole CNG innovation, he should put it in his official motorcade that carries him and and his entire family.

If the president is not doing this,
If the president is not leading by example,

If those in Government are not gambling with their own lives, then no Nigerian should listen to them.
Do you have any evidence to show that the president hasn't?

ttaiwo09:
In Nigeria, positive effects are not automatic, it could take years with very little or no positive effects. But if the government was to add to the hardship in the land, it's always automatic.
That is a law of realism. It takes longer time to build and a lot lesser time to destroy. The problem is we lack patience. When did the Ph refinery kick start even Dangote when did it kick start?! I am confident that things will stabilize but it ll be very gradual.
Politics › Re: Dollar Drops Drastically by Softmirror: 4:55pm On Nov 28, 2024
Didijiji:
why is it gradual?

Are we still importing?

Subsidy was not removed gradually

And where is the fuel price deduction happening?
It seems you already have a fixed mindset before asking this question. Mind you it is on this same, Nairaland that you people still argued that the government was still paying subsidy which simply means it wasn't totally removed but was gradually removed.
Politics › Re: Dollar Drops Drastically by Softmirror:
Didijiji:
We were made to understand that using FX to import fuel puts a strain on our exchange rate

Now Dangote and PH refinery are taking care of our internal demands with little or no need for importation using forex,

HOW COME DOLLAR RATE IS STILL OVER 1.7k Naira?
It is going to be very, very gradual. It is not automatic. Just like the fuel price which little by little amount is being deducted gradually to lower the price of fuel.

I assume you are talking about shed roof.
Has it's pros and cons, highly susceptible to wind.
Some people build because of aesthetics, those high roofs in Nigeria has purposes no just for aesthetics, they are more resistant to wind than less steeper roofs and some other purposes I listed before.
We have been building hip roofs for very long in Nigeria without problems but not as steep as they are being made today and seemly as if our roofs must be so steep. Sincerely it's just an aesthetical architectural contemporary trend today in Nigeria of 'follow-follow'. It's not about the climatic factor or that people are using the roofs as a storage. That is my point.
Politics › Re: We’re The Real Ambassadors,’ Davido Fires Back At Critics Over Nigeria’s Economy by Softmirror:
We should not forget that Davido is very much a politician, who is inclined to the PDP. He has demonstrated that a lot in recent times. A true patriot knows that Nigeria's economy is only going through a transformation for the better and very best of which the reality is, Nigerians must face this phase of economic challenges before getting there. It's inevitable. That's a bitter pill we all must swallow. No two ways about it if we must succeed. It's a phase that we will pass into prosperity. A lot of countries paid their own prices in the past for the comfort they are enjoying today. Things will eventually stabilize. I am very confident we are on the right path to bliss.

JagabanBorgu:
Something that's designed for temperate regions can be adopted to suit your own needs, if someone designed it to allow snow fall off, someone else can adopt it act as insulator for heat coming through his roof, we all have different reasons why we adopt different designs, it can serve different purposes and that kind of roof is good for areas around the equator with high heat.
The kind of roof best for places of intense heat are slope roof. There design is different.

Politics › Re: Why Do We Build Houses With Very High Roofs In Nigeria. by Softmirror: 11:07pm On Nov 27, 2024
DomPerignon:
This design is extreme and meant mainly for areas in Europe with high snow fall so that snow will not accumulate on the roof and risk bringing the whole thing down.

But it's important to have an elevated roof structure that has adequate clearance between the roof and the ceiling.

This will help to reduce heat trapped by the roofing directly radiating downwards . A very slim difference between the external roofing and internal ceiling will create a heat trap.

Also , angular roofing oriented towards the path of most storms can help prevent storm winds from destroying the roofing. The angular roofing gently guides strong winds away from the roofing upwards in an aerodynamic fashion. Flat roofing with tiny openings will be destroyed if strong winds blow over it. This will see to even the ceiling being destroyed. In old school roofing designs, holes are made in opposite directions of the base of the roofing so as to allow heat to radiate out and wind to flow through it without damaging both the roofing and ceiling boards.
Exactly!

Some people doing it may not know why they are doing but others doing know why they are doing it.
A high roof prevents water retention on the the materials that makes the roof, creates enough room in the roof which some people use for storage of different materials, a high roof creates thermal insulation within the root, that is to say, the heat conducted through the external roofing sheets is not totally transferred into the room, some are stored within the artic.
The use of sIiding window over louvers is not totally for aesthetics, it lasts longer than louvers on most buildings.
That's economic importance.
You have made good points but sincerely, such roof designs are primarily designed for temperate regions.

Our roofs in this part of the tropics don't need to be so steep as it's being constructed this days. Such roof designs were made for free flow of snow in temperate regions. That's why the make their king post to be are raised so, so high.

There are lots of factors that is being considered when making architectural designs. For example high earthquake prone areas have not only a unique kind of design but also a choice of material. I understand your point but sincerely it's very much inclined to aesthetics than functionality when this very steep roofs are designed in this part of the world and very much a contemporary trend.

It has its advantages one which is, it makes it easier for our solar energy engineers to navigate freely inside the roof to the outside during installations.

Lifemanage:
The building was not cross ventilated...high roof is waste of forest wood and resources. Cross ventilation through windows is how heat is reduced in house. If U doubt it, open one window of Ur car, close the other side, and tell me how hot it is; then open one window and the other side window and U will not need to ask to increase the roof of the car. Where Una get this analogy of high roof from self? It is carpenters lamba to collect more funds
It's very much of an architectural aesthetic, not really about functionality and very much a trend. You are right.

It's like the sliding windows we now mostly use today which is meant for temperate regions. Louvers are the best for tropical regions like ours. I think people prefer aesthetics over function.

🥴 To be very honest, 2face is a great guy who always builds himself for the future. In the past, anybody who knows 2face knows how so difficult it was for him to express himself. The only thing you go dey hear nah "yes o". But today he has built himself to a greater height not deterred but determined. I envy such mindset.
