Im a Malaysian. Malaysia is the name of the country, Malaysian are what you call the people here and Malay is a type of race in this country. We have the Chinese, Indians, kadazans as well as a race in this country. So to be calling someone whom is not a Malay race a Malay can be an insult. Just like calling an Igbo person a Yoruba person when actually the person is Igbo and not Yoruba.
