I don't mean to sound rude but you're unexposed. Chances are that you're probably amongst the millions of Nigerians who work 9-5 for some meagre 150k a month. Read between the lines. Garbage or scrap collection business is big business. You cannot afford to start it because you are too poor. Most of the people you find doing this business started as scavengers, and gradually, they have a place of their own where people bring in scrap metals for them to buy. They gather them until it weighs a couple of tons and take them to buyers who in pay millions of nairas for it. For example, a kg of copper costs about ₦13,000 or so. These scavengers would buy it off of you for half the price while you struggle with your meagre monthly salary. Normally, I don't even expect you to think of it like this because you are incapacitated. You are too broke to be able to afford to go into the business so I I'll excuse your ignorance.

Sorry to disappoint you, I'm a p2p trader on multiple exchanges so you can do the income maths better. Self made Idiots like you always know someone doing it and making moneyyyyy. Dont worry your children would grow up to become scavengers making millions. Say Amen?

There's so much money in garbage business. I was in obudu cross rivers recently. I met this Hausa guy from Katsina who's based in Obudu. Guy makes an average an average of nothing less than 800k monthly. So don't be too quick to assume everyone you meet is poor. Heck this guy even has a secretary a d a cleaner he employs and he's paying them 40k monthly. Like I said, don't be too quick to jump into conclusions based on what you see.

Even if you're blind , can't you read? Even if you're Iliterate? Why are you not on a garbage site making 800k monthly if it's such a lucrative job.?You can see poverty etched out and you're whipping out an imaginary outlier story to defend your bias.

Marrying unprepared is dangerous. But this poster is not enlightened. How did this poster verify that the family he saw is poor? The family may be rich or poor. The point is that the poster, who has not verified the financial status of the family, is judging a book by its cover.

Many garbage sellers are very rich. Some of them own parcels of land and houses. The man walking barefooted might be due to the lifestyle he has developed for himself over the years in the business. Using what you see them doing at the moment to judge their financial status is like using farming to judge the financial status of a man you meet in a farmland. It is like thinking that every Aboki that is following cows up-and-down in bushes is poor.

I admit that garbage business is a dirty one. But it is wrong to assume that every garbage seller is poor. Criticise the appearance of the business. But don't judge the financial situation of those in the business unless you know their account balances.
