The one who plotted to get Awolowo jailed was Akintola. He was in alliance with Balewa and Saraduna and they exposed Awolowo crime of embezzlement of Western region funds during Coker Commission.
Awolowo was tried, found guilty of diverting western region funds to his AG party expenses and his flamboyant lifestyle of private jets and all.

Akintola and Awolowo family were also fighting over the coca cola distribution rights in Western region, it was all greed and the end result was that the Western region went up in conflict known in history as "Wild wild west" and "Operation wetie".

It's pathetic when you Yorubas try to rope Zik into your issues.
Zik was many years ahead of Awolowo in education and accomplishments, if anything it was Awolowo who envied Ziks high heights!

Not only did Awolowo discharge his duties with bitterness, he did so with ultimate wickedness.
He endorsed the use of starvation as weapon of war against Biafran children, and he ensured that the 3Rs proposed for the rebuilding of the East after the war didn't take place, instead everything was channeled towards Lagos!

If Awolowo had a switch button to press and wipe Ndiigbo off the earth surface, he would have, but God was bigger than the man with tiger crawl facial marks.
Ndiigbo survived all Awolowo threw at us during the war and after the war when he inspired Indigenization policy that handed Nigerian economy to the Yoruba elites right after he made sure Igbo elites couldn't participate through the 20 pounds policy.

Awolowo was a wicked soul but his evil plans for Ndiigbo all failed.
All those companies they stole through Indigenization policy, the Yorubas being poor managers of business ran them all moribund and plunged the country into economic crisis with sky rocketing unemployment. Most old money in Yorubaland have their roots in that Indigenization policy heist while the Igbo were forced to go into petty trading to restock capital to be able to make any comeback into the formal sector of the Nigerian economy.

Even as evil as Hitler Germany was, the allied forces restituted Germany back to economic force through the Marshall plan, but instead of same for the East, Awolowo out of bitterness went for wickedness. Zero marshall plan was made to restitute the Eastern economy that was the fastest economy in Africa before the war. And he and FG facilitated and endorsed the abandoned property saga in old Rivers state to further cripple the Igbo economically while making sure our relationship with the Eastern minorities became forever damaged and beyond repair. That's how evil and bitter Awolowo was.
