Actress, singer, and philanthropist, Juliet Ibrahim has indicated that Ghanaians only believe she’s on screen because of her skin color but not because she’s a talented actress.

Google’s Android Wear operating system for smartwatches is 2 years old, and it still hasn’t caught on with consumers as well as the Apple Watch has. But the company is hoping to change that with the biggest update to the OS to date: Android Wear 2.0.
The new OS offers a number of improvements over its predecessor — including, most significantly, standalone apps that can run without the need to have a paired smartphone.
According to Google, standalone apps will let you use apps like Spotify on your smartwatch free of your phone. That means you don’t have to wear one of those chunk arm straps to hold your handset when you go for a run. You can simply stream your favorite tunes from your wrist.
But there’s a catch. Your watch still needs to connect to the internet. So if you’re going for a run and want to stream music, your watch will need its own cellular internet connection. Around the house, you can use standalone apps by connecting to your home Wi-Fi or via Bluetooth.
Google has also made some significant interface updates for Android Wear 2.0 to make things like notifications easier to read. One particularly interesting improvement is the new QWERTY keyboard Google added to Wear.
Before, you could only reply to messages from your wrist using canned or voice responses. But Android Wear 2.0 now lets you type out your replies or write them. Samsung’s Gear S2 smartwatch also offers a keyboard layout that lets you type responses. The Apple Watch, meanwhile, offers canned, voice and emoji responses.
Android Wear 2.0 also lets you add small bits of information from third-party apps, including things like your steps, notifications, and calories burned throughout the day. Android Wear already offered a handful of watch faces that offered similar complications, but now you can add them to any watch face you want.
The improvements to Android Wear 2.0 certainly sound impressive, but none of them truly make me feel as though I need to go out and buy an Android Wear-powered watch. Still, I’ll reserve my final judgment until I can actually get my hands on an Android Wear 2.0 device.

In a move that could be the biggest thing to happen to the Facebook news feed since it was introduced, it appears the social network is quietly testing a massive revamp that will add a lot more news to the feed.

As seen in screenshots that surfaced on Twitter on Friday morning, Facebook is experimenting with a new layout on mobile that highlights multiple news sections, with topics such as World & U.S., Sports and Food. However, the primary (and presumably default) section is still the classic news feed we're accustomed to seeing.
Facebook confirmed to Mashable that it's testing the new, sectioned news feed, in addition to the current format, though it's unclear if the feature will ever get an official launch.
While the feature being tested isn't entirely new — we've seen some versions of topic-focused feeds in the past on iOS — the format revealed in the latest Android-based screenshots haven't quite been seen before.
"People have told us they’d like options to see more stories on Facebook around specific topics they’re interested in," a Facebook spokesperson said via email. "So we have been testing a few feeds for people to view more and different stories from people and Pages based on topic areas."

The rest of the world has long believed that Africa can’t produce its own scientific inventions. This myth can be traced back to the time of slavery and colonialism – systems that led even Africans themselves to think that nothing good could come from the continent.

The myth is cemented by history books. These are replete with stories of scientific innovators from the developed world. I am not suggesting that the role these people played should be dismissed altogether. They contributed enormously to the modern world. There must, however, also be room to celebrate African innovators who have not yet been recognised for their contributions to science, medicine, technology and food security. These would include the likes of biomedical engineer Selig Percy Amoils, electrochemist Rachid Yazami, nuclear scientist Sameera Moussa, palaeontologist Berhane Asfaw, surgical pioneer Haile Debasand plant geneticist Gebisa Ejeta.

There are plenty of innovators on the continent today who are doing remarkable work. Zack Salawe Mwale is making it easier for people to cook one of Malawi’s staple foods. Nigeria’s Kunlé Adeyemi built a floating school to deal with his neighbourhood’s flooding issues. Gloria Asare Adu is pioneering the use of bamboo in Ghana. Thérèse Izaycreated a humanoid traffic robot to make the Congo’s roads safer. Jamila Abass is using cellular technology to empower small-scale farmers in Kenya.

But a list of names alone will not bust this myth.
Building more young scientists

Africa needs to start demonstrating to the world that it is capable of producing its own innovators. It can do this in two ways: by investing in the continent’s youth and creating opportunities for the new generation of African inventors and innovators to take up their place on the global stage.

Africa is home to the world’s largest population of 15- to 24-year-olds. This is set to double by 2045. In response to this, African governments have recognised that in order to build a sustainable future, they must equip their populations with the skills that are needed to build the continent from within rather than relying on technologies and ideas from elsewhere.

There is some work being done in this regard already. For instance, in 2005 the African Youth Forum for Science and Technology programme was launched to provide young African people with a platform on which they can actively play a role in policy and decision-making processes. Another initiative in this vein is the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement. It gives young graduates the chance to get involved in advancing science and technology.

Far more of these initiatives are needed to motivate young people in Africa to take science and technology’s potential seriously. Only then will the continent start to recognise its own potential in these fields.
Universities lag behind

Although most African governments have come to recognise that the only way forward is through homegrown science and technology, many universities aren’t keeping pace. Research suggests that more and more African graduates want to work for themselves and are committed to changing their societies. This also suggests that many are innovators at heart. Neither their schools nor their universities appear to be equipping them for life as inventors or self-starters.

These concerns have been raised by both scholars and educators, among them Bame Nsamenang and Therese Tchombe who argue that the current African education system does not seem to reflect the realities on the ground. The system needs to be altered so that it is in tune with these realities – and so that it teaches children just how much people in Africa are able to do to address their own continent’s problems.

It is also important that schools and universities in Africa not only highlight and idealise theories and thinkers from elsewhere in the world. This will help their graduates see what is possible and stop thinking of their continent as a place without innovators.

Some institutions are setting the pace here. South Africa’s University of the Western Cape is offering a flagship programme on Critical Thought in African Humanities through its Centre for Humanities Research.

The Pan-African University, which is being established by the African Union Commission, is another example. It aims to prioritise science, technology and innovative research that’s uniquely African, and to highlight the kind of work that’s coming out of the continent.

Such work is an important start towards Africa recognising its own potential and hailing its own homegrown innovators. Empire is one of the juiciest nighttime soaps around—so we're going to take with a grain of salt the fact that the last we saw of the best character on the show in tonight's penultimate episode of season two, he was bleeding out on a red carpet after being freakin' SHOT.

And Jamal took the bullet for his homophobic, possibly sociopathic father, who had only a few scenes earlier said he hoped his middle son died from AIDS. Those are totally the words of a human garbage fire, not a father whose son should sacrifice his life for him.

Actually, to be honest, it seemed like Jamal tried to stop Freda from shooting Lucious (because he cares about her and didn't want her to make such a destructive decision) rather than trying to stop Lucious from being shot.The whole reason Freda stormed toward the Lyon family was because she found out that Lucious is the one who killed her dad, Frank—imagine how upset she'll be when she finds out that Cookie is the one who snitched on Frank in the first place.

Before the shooting, Jamal had decided to sever ties with his family and shelf his album, but now the whole Lyon family is sitting in the hospital waiting for word about his fate. And, uh, so are we—and it looks like we'll have to wait for next week's season finale to find out what it'll be.

The teaser for the season two ender also featured a confrontation between Rhonda and Anika (now that Rhonda has realized Anika is the one who pushed her down the stairs), Anika seemingly jumping off a balcony (!!) and Lucious and Cookie tying the knot again. This show is nothing if not eventful!

And, by the way, Jamal seems to be the only one who recognizes how insane his family is right now, meaning he's the only tolerable Lyon at the moment. (Cookie's still amazing, but she's just as cray as Lucious. The Benin Football Federation (FBF) have been banned from global football after a court ruling in the country blocked upcoming elections.

A court ruling in Benin on Wednesday, May 4 locked the FBF from holding their presidential elections.

The ban will be lifted once a new Executive Committee has been installed. The decision was made at the inaugural FIFA Council meeting being held in Mexico.

“The Benin Football Association (FBF) was suspended with immediate effect due to a recent injunction by a local judicial court which impeded the holding of the due election," FIFA said in a statement.

It is quite unfortunate that in this country everybody pay more attention to those people making troubles around instead of appreciating those who are peacemakers, for example our today's government focus on north east and some other areas that are causing troubles without recommending the peaceful areas for maintaining peace in the Country. We all are in one way or the other guilty of this problem, and must start learning to appreciate people when necessary.
