Phones / Without Anyone Noticing Iphones Get A Feature To Secretly Call The Police by stevespack(m): 2:04am On Nov 11, 2016
Just few days ago Apple rolled out iOS 10.2 beta 2 earlier this week and one of the features that nobody noticed, but which could come in super handy, is Emergency SOS, which lets you call the police without anyone noticing.

Those familiar with the Apple ecosystem might remember that iPhones already had a way to secretly call the police by telling Siri to “charge my phone to 100 percent,” but Cupertino decided to remove it, most likely because everyone was aware of it, so the command wasn’t so discrete as it was supposed to be at first.
But with iOS 10.2 beta 2, Apple is testing a new Emergency SOS feature that makes more sense and is inspired from the Apple Watch, which also got similar functionality with watchOS 3.

Specifically, starting this beta, and most likely with the stable version due in the coming months, iPhone users will be able to alert the police by simply tapping the power button five times. The purpose here is to be able to do the whole thing while your iPhone is in the pocket, so nobody around you can notice that you’re calling the cops.

Once you do that, the iPhone displays a three-second countdown that allows you to cancel the call should you have pressed the power button accidentally, but if no action is performed, the phone contacts the emergency services and provides information such as location. Of course, you must be living in one of the 14 countries that are supported at the moment, such as the UK and the US, but Apple will most likely expand this feature to more of them in the coming months.

By default, this feature comes enabled in iOS 10.2 beta 2, but you can disable it from Settings > General > Emergency SOS.
On the Apple Watch, those who want to discretely call the police can keep the side button pressed for five seconds, after which the same counter shows up before eventually alerting emergency services.

Kindly mind my words here. i don't mean bloggers i mean Prof bloggers indeed. Which i believe any serious person can be with just a time. Lets head to the point then. Today is no more news that Professional blogging is a very new idea with a lot of potential for entrepreneurs who have insight, drive, and a basic understanding of today's innovative web technology. The ranks of so-called pro
bloggers are still quite small, and there are very few people who make their living entirely off of their blogs. However, every day there are more and more people who have managed to turn their weblogs into cash cows that supplement their income. The number of pro bloggers is growing by leaps and bounds, but it is difficult to say whether this trend will continue.

Many bloggers dream of entering the sphere of professional blogging. There are very few people who
happily devote an hour or more each day to their blog without at least occasionally wishing that they could earn some kind of financial reward for all of their work. Several models exist for making money with a blog, the most popular being to sell advertising space through Google's AdSense program or directly to a company that wishes to reach the demographic that your blog appeals to. However, there are very few people indeed who can make a comfortable living just by selling space
on their blog sidebars.

A lot of the people who read weblogs are bloggers themselves, in part because of the fact that the people who use blogging technology on a daily basis are most likely to be interested in what other writers are doing with the medium. This fact begins to explain why the people who succeed in the world of professional blogging are mostly people who have devoted themselves almost entirely to learning about, talking about, and writing about blogging. More than any other topic, pro bloggers turn their attention to the phenomenon of blogging itself. A lot of pro bloggers make the topic of blogging the stunningly self-reflexive ongoing focus of their blogs.

Of course, professional blogging is destined to become much more complicated in the future than it is today. In the current moment, pro bloggers who attract the largest audiences and make the most money are mostly concerned with investigating the blogging movement and with offering advice to amateur bloggers.

However, as the kinds of people who regularly read blogs changes, and the demographics of bloggers expand and diversify as blogging software becomes more user friendly, it is very likely indeed that the world of pro blogging will begin to reflect these changes. Indeed, it is very difficult to predict exactly what kinds of blogs will be reaping the greatest financial rewards five or ten years down the road. The world of pro blogging is one of constant change and flux, which is part of what makes it so exciting. http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/11/lets-talk-about-simple-things-you-must.html

Phones / Lets Talk About: Apple Making It Impossible To Steal An Iphone by stevespack(m): 1:39am On Nov 05, 2016
Believe me stealing iPhones is a waste of time these days if owners use passwords or fingerprint protection (and the FBI knows it well), but Apple might soon be making it impossible for someone to walk away with the phone without getting caught.

The company has patented a new technology that essentially keeps Find My iPhone active even when the device is turned off, so you can locate a stolen iPhone quite easily.
First of all, some context. Find My iPhone is a feature that allows owners to locate their phones from their iCloud accounts, but the whole functionality is lost once the device is powered off and the SIM is removed. Couple this with an iPhone that lacks password protection and you get quite a loot, especially given how much an iPhone 7 costs these days.
But Apple’s patent US20160323703 proposes a more advanced version of Find My iPhone that can work regardless of the state of the phone, so you can locate an iPhone no matter what the thief attempts to do.
Running in an unpowered state

As CultOfMac notes, the patent reveals that iPhones could come with a dedicated timer that automatically kicks in and turns on Find My iPhone every once in a while to send location data to the owner. This doesn’t mean that the iPhone is powered on, but only using an unpowered state, with extremely low battery impact, so Find My iPhone can work even when the device almost runs out of battery.
Find My iPhone could send location information using this new system via email or text if a SIM is still available, but it could also connect to known Wi-Fi networks to get Internet access. Furthermore, Apple could improve the feature by allowing it to connect to public wireless networks that do not require a password, but this is an idea that the company is probably still considering given the security risks.
For the moment, this technology is still in patent stage, but it simply makes sense for Apple to offer it on future iPhones and we really wouldn’t be surprised to see it available on the next-generation model coming in 2017. http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/11/lets-talk-about-apple-making-it.html

is this really true?

Phones / Lets Talk About: Why Some Iphone 7 Models Are Faster Than Others And How To Tell by stevespack(m): 3:00am On Oct 23, 2016
Well If you feel like your iPhone 7 is slower than your friend’s, you’re not crazy. There’s a big chance that the model you bought comes with hardware which makes it substantially slower than others, and recent tests show how and why this is happening.

Although you’d expect all iPhone 7 models with the same size to have the same performance, it turns out that they do not, and it’s all because of the hardware that’s being used by Apple. This is why iPhones sold in the United States, for instance, are faster than those sold in Europe, which come with different hardware that proves to be slower. But let’s take everything one at a time to discuss the difference.

"Read and write tests"
One of the changes that Apple made to the iPhone lineup with the introduction of this year’s generation was the demise of the 16 GB entry-level configuration, replacing it with a 32 GB model.

And while more storage always comes in super handy, there’s a big chance that you’re not going to be pleased with it. Tests performed by Unbox Therapy on YouTube have shown that entry-level iPhone models are substantially slower when it comes to reading and writing data than those coming with more storage.

For example, the tests have determined that a 32 GB iPhone 7 can read data at a speed of 656 Mbps, whereas a 128 GB iPhone 7 does the same thing at 856 Mbps. The difference is huge, and although you might not see it at first glance, it becomes more obvious when comparing the two side by side.

A 32 GB iPhone 7 writes data on the internal memory at 42 Mbps, while the 128 GB version runs the process at 341 Mbps. The difference is shocking and it means that the iPhone 7 with more storage is no less than 8 times faster than the entry-level configuration.

"Signal strength"

The huge difference continues in the case of modem performance as well, and once again, it’s all because of the hardware that Apple used on the iPhone 7.

There are two different modems, from Intel and Qualcomm, respectively, and it looks like the majority fall in the first category.
This time, tests conducted by Cellular Insights show that there’s a big difference between the performance of an iPhone 7 with an Intel modem and one with a Qualcomm version, with the latter being no more, no less than 30 percent faster.

How is this possible? Cellular Insights explains that in ideal conditions, all models perform pretty much the same, but it all changes when the signal is weaker.

“At -96dBm the Intel variant needed to have Transport Block Size adjusted as BLER well exceeded the 2% threshold. At -105dBm the gap widened to 20%, and at -108dBm to a whopping 75%,” the tests show.

Overall, the Qualcomm modem seems to offer substantially better performance than its Intel counterpart, and for the moment, there’s nothing Apple can do about it. The next-generation iPhone, however, can change this if Apple decides to go for the Qualcomm processor, but this is very unlikely given that this is the more expensive version and Apple probably went for the Intel modem as a cost-cutting measure.

"How to tell if your iPhone 7 is faster or slower"
Determining if your iPhone 7 is the faster or the slower version is a piece of cake. In terms of storage, this isn’t difficult at all because it says right on the box if you have the 32 GB or the 128 GB version, but you can also go to Settings > General > About and look for the “Capacity” entry that says how much storage you have.

As for the signal strength, it’s also very simple, and it all comes down to model number (which you can find on the back of the iPhone, on the box, or using dedicated hardware information apps):

iPhone 7 models featuring Qualcomm modems are available in the United States, in China and Japan, while the Intel version is sold in the rest of the world. There are also some Intel variants in the United States, but the Intel iPhone 7 can be found at Verizon and AT&T.

"How different hardware (and different performance) could impact sales"
Unsurprisingly, the markets were Apple’s iPhone comes with Qualcomm hardware are also the ones where the company is recording substantial sales, and statistics provided by App Annie come to confirm this.

China, the United States, and Japan lead Apple’s business in terms of App Store revenue, with China itself generating no less than $1.7 billion in the third quarter. The United States is second with $1.5 billion, while Japan is third with $1 billion in sales.

As far as the sales share is concerned, though, Apple still has a long way to go to compete against rival Android in each of these markets. In the United States, Apple’s iOS is the second mobile platform with a share of 30.9 percent in the 3-month period ending August 2016, while Android is leading the chart with 65.2 percent. In China, Android is number one with 85.9 percent and iOS is the runner-up with 13.5 percent, while in Japan the same rankings are maintained with 66.7 percent versus 31.9 percent shares.

At first glance, Apple’s decision to offer the Intel (slower) modem in 90 percent of the markets is entirely a matter of costs, although after these tests it becomes more obvious that tech-savvy users would love to have a Qualcomm device.

It remains to be seen if Apple decides to change this approach when the next iPhone sees daylight, but in terms of costs, Cupertino clearly doesn’t see any reason to do this. http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/10/lets-talk-about-why-some-iphone-7.html

Webmasters / Lets Talk About: Online Stores Currently Infected With Card-data-stealing Malwar by stevespack(m): 2:47am On Oct 14, 2016
In spite of the fact that WordPress continues to be the most hacked CMS platform, compromising online shopping platforms such as Magento, OpenCart, and others is by far more lucrative for online crooks.
According to Willem de Groot, security analyst for Byte.nl, the number of online shops infected with malware
has skyrocketed in the past year, as crooks found that online skimming presents a greater target and more anonymity than real-world ATM skimming.

The recent surge in online skimming has fueled a growth in carding sites, which now often sell payment card data stolen via compromised online store payment pages and PoS malware, rather than data acquired from ATM skimmers.

"Online skimming has gone up 69% in 10 months"
De Groot, who is also one of the people behind MageReport.com, a Magento site security scanner, has been keeping track of online stores infected with malware ever since November 2015, when he first saw an uptick in such cases.

A general Internet scan of 255,000 online stores has revealed the presence of various malware variants on 3,501 shops.

When he repeated the scan in March 2016, he found 4,476 infected stores, which represented an increase of 28 percent. Ten months later, in September 2016, de Groot found 5,925 infected sites, up 69 percent from November 2015.

With the recent discovery of the MageCart malware, de Groot repeated his scan once again, on October 10, when he found 5,911 infected stores. The good news is that the MageCart report scared enough webmasters, and on October 12, the number had gone down to 5,761, with 334 admins cleaning up their stores, while 170 new stores were infected.

"Some high-profile sites are infected"
You might be tempted to think that only old and niche websites suffer such infections. It's not true. De Groot highlights some pretty high-profile sites on his most recent infection lists.
He mentions the online store of Icelandic singer Bjork, the store of Audi South Africa, and the website of the NRSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee).

"Some webmasters don't understand the problem, or just don't care"
Cleaning up these stores is not a simple job, since updating some online platforms such as Magento requires some level of technical skills, and it's not a one-click button job.

But de Groot doesn't have a problem with the technical side of updating online stores, since all online platforms provide very good documentation to get this done. His problem is with the human factor. Here are some of the replies he received from store admins whom he notified:

"Online skimming malware is now more complex"
And if the ignorance of online store owners weren't enough, de Groot, who's been keeping track of different malware families, says he's seen a rise in sophistication for the malware's code.

He mentions that in its first variations, the malware - usually a JavaScript file secretly loaded on the online store - would wait until the user would access a page with the "checkout" term in the URL. Nowadays, malware has support for various types of checkout and payment extensions and uses very complex code obfuscation.

Besides getting harder to detect, the number of online skimming malware has gone through the roof as well. De Groot says that in almost a year, online skimming malware has gone from one single threat to nine varieties and three distinct malware families.

"Google, Visa, and Mastercard should intervene"
"Companies such as Visa or Mastercard could revoke the payment license of sloppy merchants," de Groot proposes. "But it would be way more efficient if Google would add the compromised sites to its Chrome Safe Browsing blacklist. continue http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/10/lets-talk-about-online-stores-currently.html

Webmasters / Lets Talk About: Simple Ways Of Setting Up Spam Blocker And How It Work by stevespack(m): 3:14am On Oct 03, 2016
Now let me start by explaining what A spam blocker is all about. First i will say A spam blocker is one way you can effectively cope with the deluge of spam that is targeted at your inbox each day. This type of anti-spam software works by blocking any unsolicited email from getting to your inbox. It is generally about
90% effective in blocking this spam, along with any viruses and other malicious code that may come with it.

The spam blocker differs from a spam filter in that its function is specifically to block most of the incoming spam. The spam filter works by organizing email that it identifies as spam into folders, and leaves it to you to take further action on. The spam blocker, on the other hand, is specifically programmed to prevent spam from getting through. With a spam blocker, you do not have to deal with the spam it detects and blocks.

So How Does a Spam Blocker Work?

The spam blocker will log into your mail server email account every 10 minutes, inspecting it for spam email. It immediately destroys any viruses, and gets rid of any obvious spam such as email that contains adult or pornographic material. Undesirable email is flagged and then redirected to a folder specifically for spam. You will have an opportunity to sort through this spam folder to verify that no legitimate email is mistakenly diverted there. Any email that it is on your white-list or which it determines as legit will be left on the server to be downloaded as normal.

If an email is from an unknown source and the spam blocker cannot clearly categorize it as either legitimate or spam, it is quarantined in a specific folder until you either move it or delete it. The quarantined spam is usually held in this folder for up to 30 days, or until you take action on it. The spam blocker keeps track of the particular action you take on each quarantined email e.g. if you delete the email. It will "remember" this action and use it to create a new filtering rule that it will apply to future incoming email.

What are the Benefits of a Spam Blocker?

- A spam blocker frees up storage space. Most mailboxes have a very limited capacity to store email. Spam takes up space, and a spam blocker generally prevents large files from making it into your main folder.

- By blocking spam rather than just filtering it, the spam blocker helps minimize the amount of time you have to personally sort through your spam email.

- Because this anti-spam software deletes spam, it drastically lowers the risk of a computer virus infecting your system.

Phones / Lets Talk About: Why You Can’t Turn Off Glance While Charging Windows Phones by stevespack(m): 2:24am On Sep 22, 2016
I believe you will totally agree with me here that Glance screen is undoubtedly one of the top features of Lumia phones, and although some other phone makers are trying to offer similar implementations - as is the case of Samsung and its own Always On display on the S7 and Note 7 - Microsoft’s version just seems to make more sense and work correctly.

But there still are things that need to be improved about Glance screen and, unexpectedly, Microsoft is making changes that actually make the feature worse than before.

"Feature removed for improved usability"
" "
For instance, turning off Glance screen while the phone is charging is no longer possible because the company removed this option for usability purposes. This is what a firm engineer explained in a comment posted in the Feedback Hub as a reply to a request to allow users once again to disable Glance while charging.

“Thank you for your feedback! Some less used features have been removed from Settings in order to simplify lookup and improve the usability. This includes removing the option to turn off Glance while the phone is charging,” the engineer said.

“At the same time, this release implements a new system to prevent burn-in on devices while Glance is ‘on’. This is why you no longer see the clock moving up the Glance screen over time. Your feedback has been forwarded to the feature team, and the option to disable Glance is under consideration for future releases.”
Microsoft’s “new system to prevent burn-ins on devices while Glance is on” probably refers to the new behavior that no longer moves the time around every minute, but instead flashes the on-screen text every 60 seconds.

And yet, this still doesn’t seem to prevent ghosting, continue http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/09/lets-talk-about-why-you-cant-turn-off.html

Webmasters / Lets Talk About: Complete Information On All About Mobile Domain Names by stevespack(m): 1:48am On Sep 21, 2016
Back then when the Internet first came out it was restricted to a wired connection to a computer. Eventually technology improved, creating wireless Internet. At that point the Internet could be accessible through desktops, laptops and mobile devices without wiring. This means that the Internet was now portable. And
as more mobile devices are getting created, consumers are exploring how to increase this portability. In fact, wireless Internet has gotten so popular with mobile devices, domain name companies have created a new extension. It's called .mobi.

.Mobi is the extension of choice for websites that are being formatted for cell phones, pdas and other mobile devices. It can be bought from most major domain name companies such as Godaddy, Web4Africa or Network Solutions. As far as registering a .mobi domain name, one would go through the same type of procedure that is associated with traditional domain names. This involves first choosing a .mobi domain name and seeing if it is available.

If it is not available, the domain name company will offer suggestions on what a person can use. Either way, the customer will be given another chance to select another .mobi domain name. Once they get one that is not taken, they can proceed to purchase it. The contract will last one to two years, depending on what they agreed upon with the domain name company. When the contract is up, a person will have to renew their .mobi domain name if they want to continue to keep it.

So, why would a webmaster decide to invest in a domain name that is restricted to mobile devices? Well, it's mainly because they get an opportunity to center in on a market that is relatively new. Since most webmasters or companies are trying to take advantage of the .coms or the .nets, the .mobi has become somewhat forgotten. This means that it is prime for search engine keywords that would normally not be available for traditional domain names. It can also allow a webmaster a branding opportunity for their company.

However, since a .mobi domain name means a webmaster is creating a website specially designed for a mobile phone, it cannot have the types of frills that it could have if it was being promoted on a computer. Good mobile websites need to be mostly textual with very limited number of pics, (if any). Granted, plain text is not fancy, but it doesn't require much loading time. Mobile phone sites should also not be very large nor should they be created with frames or other more complicated layouts. continue http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/09/lets-talk-about-complete-information-on.html

Car Talk / Over 100 Million Volkswagen Group Cars Vulnerable To New Car Key Hack by stevespack(m): 12:27pm On Aug 12, 2016
Please give me just some seconds of your time and hear me out. Read what i have gt for you here i believe this will help you take precaution. Well as usual team of researchers from the University of Birmingham, the UK, have discovered two new vulnerabilities that allow an attacker to create copies of
authentic car keys used by the Volkswagen Group. The researchers found that, during the past 20 years, Volkswagen has been building remote keyless entry (RKE) systems that utilized a small number of cryptographic keys to secure the signals sent from the RKE system to the car.

The researchers say that two vulnerabilities in the design of car keys from the Volkswagen Group allow an attacker to intercept these signals, break the decryption, create a clone of the car key, and use it to steal cars.

"Attack is cheap and works from a distance"
To perform an attack described by the researchers, the thief would first need a special device, which only costs around $40 to make, and would need to be within 300 feet (90 meters) of the targeted car to intercept the encrypted radio signal.

To decrypt this signal, the thief must also extract a shared cryptographic key that can be found in one of the car's components. The bad news for car owners is that Volkswagen didn't use too many of these shared keys, and based on the car make, model, and year, an attacker would know where to look for.
The thief would have no problem extracting the key from a car they have legal access to, and then use that shared key on the car they want to steal. A database of shared cryptographic keys would be very easy to build this way.

"Multiple car brands are affected"
The Volkswagen Group owns Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, Scania, Skoda, and the Volkswagen brands. According to statistics, the Volkswagen group has sold over 100 million cars in the last 15 years, but more cars may be exposed since the Group has been providing remote car keys for its products since 1995.

Flavio Garcia, the expert who led this latest research, is also one of the researchers part of a crew that discovered a security flaw in one of the components used by the Volkswagen Group's RKE system in 2013. Back then, the automaker sued the researcher and prevented him from going public with his findings for two years instead of fixing the flaw.

"Researchers didn't share the full attack details"
This time around, the researchers notified the Volkswagen Group and a third-party subcontractor about the issues. The company allowed the researchers to publish their data as long as they didn't share details that would put customer property in danger.

"[W]e agreed to leave out amongst others the following details: crypto-
graphic keys, part numbers of vulnerable ECUs, and the used programming devices and details about the reverse-engineering process," the researchers explained. Continue http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/08/lets-talk-about-new-discovery-over-100.html

Phones / Lets Talk About: Samsung Galaxy Note 7 With S Pen by stevespack(m): 11:35am On Jul 20, 2016
Well like we all are expecting Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 is expected to take the market by storm after its unveiling on August 2. Still, until then, images of the upcoming smartphone continue to surface online, with the latest depicting the Galaxy Note 7 together with the S Pen.

The image posted by Evan Blass shows the Galaxy Note 7 in Blue Coral color as well as the S Pen. The handset appears to have a dual-curved display, two openings at the top for the iris scanning biometric setup, and the USB Type-C port at the bottom.

This is the first leaked image that reveals the S Pen, which is said to come with additional functionality. The S Pen seems to be offered in the same Blue Coral color, with the tip of the stylus in a metallic shade similar to the one the phone has on the sides. A Samsung representative has recently stated that the S Pen will have added functionality.

"The S Pen stylus could be waterproof too"
Another rumor has surfaced, with Mai Nguyên from Luxury Mobile (via PhoneArena) revealing that the S Pen will have the ability to work underwater. Galaxy Note 7 is expected to come with IP68 certification, and the blogger claims that users will be able to write on the Note 7's display with the stylus underwater.
This seems interesting, and it's enough to get us all excited, but it remains to be seen how Samsung will actually pull that off. Nevertheless, the Galaxy Note 7 will be officially unveiled on August 2, at an event held in New York.

Word is that pre-orders for the smartphone will go live immediately after the unveiling event, which wouldn't be out of the ordinary, considering that third-party accessories are already available on multiple websites. In addition, T-Mobile is said to launch a BOGO deal for the Galaxy Note 7, but that remains to be seen. Source http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/07/lets-talk-about-samsung-galaxy-note-7.html

Phones / Lets Talk About: Complete Review Of Amazon Fire Tablet 7-inch by stevespack(m): 3:10am On Jul 20, 2016
Let me start by reminding you that the Amazon Fire is a 7-inch tablet that, even though a year old, remains one of Amazon's latest devices. While I wasn't overly impressed by the Fire HD 10 or Fire HD 8, the Amazon Fire is a different matter. And that's because even though it doesn't feel that different to the others its price is incredibly low. It costs just $49 – less than what some of us spend on a takeway and a
bottle of plonk. That's incredible value, although cheap tablets can often be totally rubbish.

If you’re a really into your tech you might think the Amazon Fire tablet is one of those. It’s sluggish; the screen resolution is fairly low, and it feels cheap. On the other hand, it's much better than many of the no-brand tablets we’ve used over the past few years and costs less than a lot of them too.

The Amazon Fire is the sort of tablet that would make a perfect gift for a little one who won't be too perturbed by the lowly specs or a good first tablet for someone who's not the most techy. The Amazon Fire has its flaws, but also does enough to make it worthwhile for anyone who doesn't want to spend more, or who wants to keep their kids' grubby mitts off an expensive iPad.
Amazon Fire 29

Amazon Fire – Design
The Amazon Fire has a bulky, textured plastic body that would feel a bit of a con in any tablet above $100.
It actually feels a lot more like a Kindle e-reader. The entry-level plastic that does its job – which is to keep the insides, well, inside – and nothing more. If you’re after sophistication or elegance, you're not going to find it here.

Amazon Fire 19That’s not what the Amazon Fire is about. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that it’s poorly made. Amazon claims the Fire is 1.8 times more durable than the iPad Air 2. As a general rule I don't drop tablets down mineshafts for testing purposes – but it does seem to have that simple-but-sturdy vibe.

Clearly it isn't as well made as the other Fire HD tablets, though. Part of the back plastic by the logo "clicks" when pressed, and the screen covering doesn’t appear to be Gorilla Glass, judging by the pressure required to make it flex. However, it's still some form of toughened material.
Amazon Fire 21As such, the Amazon Fire should fulfil the most obvious purpose of a tablet such as this: It should suit young-ish kids pretty well. Note that if you’re buying for very young children who might fling the thing at a wall at a moment’s notice, however, you might want to consider a Kids Fire tablet. It comes with a chunky case and a 2-year no-quibble guarantee should it break.

You get 8GB internal memory with the Amazon Fire tablet, plus a microSD slot should you want to add more. For storing numerous games and video, this may become necessary. That said, with around 5-6GB memory free from the off, you can install a fistful of high-end games without one.

Amazon Fire – Screen
It's here that we hit the point where those with more money to spend on a tablet will want to bail out. The Amazon Fire's screen is very basic.
A 1,024 x 600-pixel display, it appears blocky even when stretched across only seven inches. It's far more pixellated than your phone – unless you have a very low-cost handset.

Amazon FireThis is something of which you should take note if you’re planning to use the Amazon Fire as an e-reader. The resolution is far too low to make text appear smooth, even though a book displayed on a Kindle e-reader of a similar resolution might actually look quite good. There’s a reason why Kindle e-readers still exist, after all. Browsing highlights the poor 171ppi density too.

I can’t fully condemn the Amazon Fire here, though, since it still delivers the most important basic factors I expect from a tablet. For example, it uses an IPS display, which results in decent viewing angles and fair colour. In the dark old days of ultra-budget tablets, £50 would buy you a screen that was barely visible from some angles. The Amazon Fire's panel would allow for a few people to gather around to view it without it looking a shadowy mess to anyone.

Amazon Fire 7Colour fidelity is relatively poor compared with tablets four times the price, though. But with none of the respected brands offering a tablet at $50 – bar Archos – the question becomes: What do you expect for the price?

That said, the pixellation is actually better than on the Amazon Fire HD 10, which costs several times the Fire. Games and video still look fairly good, with the resolution being less than, but ultimately not a million miles away from, 720p. Note that most Xbox 360 and PS3 games are actually rendered at 720p.
As with its Fire HD siblings, the Amazon Fire doesn’t have an auto-brightness setting, which means you'll need to alter the brightness level manually. The screen isn’t nova-bright, but we found that using about 50-60% brightness indoors was around "normal". There’s no need to max it out unless you’re outdoors. http://eisteve..com.ng/2016/07/lets-talk-about-complete-review-of_19.html
